Res: Interesting, I’ll check that. Probably eithecr running the game windowed or setting the desktop to 1600×1200 helps then.

FOV: please try to reset the profile to default in the config app. With default settings it should work normally.

Odd, normally it should only choose resolutions available on your system. However, if you didn’t do so already, you can add 1600×1200 as custom resolution in your GPU control panel. A detailed step-by-step guide can be found in the “Custom Resolutions” section of the vorpX help.

FOV: The profile comes with a default ‘Image Zoom’ value that accounts for the missing rest. If you changed the ‘Image Zoom’ or are unsure whether you namaybe did that, please reset the profile to default in the config app and don’t tweak anything again afterwards,

Can’t really help with that dialog, doesn’t sound like something that belongs to vorpX. Maybe it belongs to some tool that also hooks into games. If you have anything running in the background, try to disable it.

FOV: Please run the DirectVR memory scanner after entering the actual game, i.e. not while the menu is still open. Whenever a game profile has memory scanner support, you should see an according message in the top left corner of the game window as well as in the headset.

After a successful scanner-run, the game FOV automatically matches the FOV of your headset.

If you accidentally already ran the scanner while the menu was still open, it may have cached invalid values. In that case please empty the cache on the DirectVR page of the vorpX menu and re-run the scanner.

I’ll take a look if it becomes reasonably popular. As always no promises though, especially since it’s a multiplayer title. Multiplayer games often have additional protection against hooking into them to deal with cheaters, so I can’t make any predictions at all here.

That won‘t work in many games since a lot of them evaluate the thumb stick key press duration themselves, e.g. for sprinting or crouching while the button is pressed, which wouldn‘t work anymore if vorpX was set to long press.

What you can do however is using the menu/pause buttons on the gamepad instead of the thumbstick buttons, which works in the same way as the thumbsticks per default. The according option can be found on the ‚Input‘ page of the ingame menu.

    Glad you got it working.

One thing: For correct real world 3D and scale leave the 3D-Strength at 1.0. You do not have to tweak any vorpX setting at all for the game to work correctly. Setting 3D-Strength to 3.0 means wandering through a toy landscape where everyone is 60cm high.

I have no experience with that particular AV program myself, but another user recently posted this: click. Seems to be one of those AV programs that aren’t really disabled when you disable them.

You can watch 3D movies with vorpX and MPC-HC or VLC, vorpX has dedicated videoplayer profiles for those, but vorpX cannot convert 2D movies into 3D movies. That is limited to games.

Please try a factory reset in the config app (trouble shooting page). You don’t need a cloud profile for RE7, vorpX already comes with one.

All you should have to do normally is launching vorpX and then the game. Neither SteamVR (gets started automatically if necessary) nor the vorpX config app have to be open.

If it still does not work after the factory reset, please make sure that the game runs on the same GPU that you have your headset conncted to. Gaming laptops typically have a GPU built into the CPU for less demanding tasks and a dedicated GPU for games, which probably is the one that your headset is connected to. With some luck your laptop allows to disable the integrated GPU either with a tool or in the BIOS. Doing that can prevent potential issues if a game for some reason runs on the internal GPU while the headset is connected to the external GPU.

If you are using vorpX together with VD for streaming to the Quest, there is always vorpX’s own timewarp, regardless whether vorpX runs in Oculus or SteamVR mode.

That issue will finally be gone with the next vorpX. For now please change the resolution without vorpX running.

@ steph12: vorpX should choose the right lighting settings normally. if you happen to have disabled DirectVR auto settings, please re-enable that. One of the things DirectVR typically does if possible is automatically setting up game settings in a way that allows vorpX to work correctly.

@ all: for those who don’t want to read through the entire thread here’s the important bit again: the final version of the game uses a unique DX11/9 menu that currently is displayed as black quad in vorpX. The next vorpX will be able to display it (in one eye), but there also is a (better) workaround that you can use right now: adding -oldgameui to the game’s launch options in Steam brings back the original DX9 menu.

You can save your existing settings by dragging the game’s entry from the local profile list to your desktop. Vice versa to restore. There is no real reason to go back though. Just make sure to run the DirectVR scanner after entering the game world.

It can normally and on a fast PC it definitely should. If you have framerate issues beyond what I wrote above (your description of trying Minecraft in 2D sounds like that), please check the trouble shooting guide on top of this sub-forum, especially the part about potential conflicts with other programs on your PC. If you happen to be an nVidia 3D-Vision user, also make sure that is disabled.

There are three things that cost FPS, not just stereo rendering. Below in list form, in case that didn’t become entirely clear above:

    1. G3D roughly cuts the frame rate in half (usually a little bit more)
    2. Raising the game’s field of view to match your headset FOV costs additional performance since more objects have to be drawn
    3. Some overhead for rendering to the headset.

I can’t comment on Minecraft since the game is not supported and I never tried it but with Z3D (or no 3D) and no FOV adjustment you should typically see 85-90% of your mono performance, otherwise something is wrong. In that case please check the trouble shooting guide on top of this sub-forum, especially the part about potential conflicts with other programs on your PC. If you happen to be an nVidia 3D-Vision user, also make sure that is disabled.
