RalfKeymasterOne more thing you could try in case of hooking issues is activating the ‘Alternative Hooking’ method in the config app. It might help, but some games require the normal hooking method.
Also please double check (again) for anything on your PC that might also hook into games. If you didn’t do that already, check the pinned trouble shooting guide on top of this sub-forum, it lists various potential cnadidates and also some other, less common, potential issues that may cause your problem.
RalfKeymasterPlease reinstall vorpX after removing BitDefender, just in case it deleted some files. Also remove any other “security” software you may have installed except Windows Defender, which should not get in the way.
RalfKeymasterThat’s almost certainly some hooking conflict. If you use anything else that Windows Defender most likely your AV program although you may think you disabled it. Some more annoying ones flatout block Windows functions vorpX uses to hook into programs. Even if you disable the actual scanner these blocks may still be active. An example of that is BitDefender.
If you use Windows Defender this doesn’t apply, but if you use anything else try to uninstall your Av software for testing purposes. On Windows 10 Windows Defender will kick in instead. Usually more invasive third party AV programs are largely unneccesary on Windows 10.
RalfKeymasterThanks for the heads-up. It’s not a placeholder, but will only work with the next vorpX version since it uses a game specific shader parser for creating stereo 3D that isn’t available in the current release. Shader parsers are written directly in C++ and thus new parsers can only be provided with new vorpX versions.
I’ll re-upload the database without the Sims 4 profile for now to avoid further confusion. You can expect support for the game in the next vorpX. Works great.
RalfKeymasterThere should still be an Oculus option. If it is missing for some reason, try a reinstall.
RalfKeymasterLet me know if/when the issue occurs on regular servers. Keeping things up-to-date for constantly updated games like this one is time-consuming enough already without checking beta versions.

RalfKeymasterPlease send your trouble shoot data per mail to support |at| vorpx com and I’ll see whether I can find anything unusual. For some reason I can’t download your dropbox file.
Please also check whether the games run without vorpX to ensure first it’s not some general incompatiblity between your AMD card and the games in question.
RalfKeymasterStill works for me. I can only test a start area since I don’t play this game, but would consider it unlikely that things are broken completely elswhere.
Try a profile reset and/or full factory reset in the vorpX config app.
If afterwards you still have no G3D, please try to create a new character for testing purposes and let me know if you get 3D in the start area or not.
RalfKeymasterPlease first check whether you added 2560×1920 as custom resolution to your display driver. If you did not do that yet, you can find a step-by-step guide in the vorpX help under “Custom Resolutions”.
If you already added the resolution to your display driver, you might have to set your desktop resolution to 2560×1920 before launching the game. Some, mostly older, games have the unfortunate habit of considering the current desktop resolution the maximum allowed instead of checking what is available.
RalfKeymasterA appreciate the offer, no need to send me a donation though. I’d be more than happy if you just would take my advice:
Stop counting pixels, you make things more complicated that way for yourself than they really are. A higher resolution will always look better, even beyond your headset’s screen resolution, but a super high resolution is worth nothing if the game only runs at 20fps.
Rules of thumb you should keep in mind are: 1. Resolution as high as possible while still keeping the framerate high enough to be comfortable for you. 2. Square/4:3 aspect ratio if you (or vorpX automatically) can set the FOV high enough to fill the entire screen, 16:9 if you need ImageZoom to compensate for FOV. That’s fairly easy and the best advice on could give in this regard.
Hope that helps.
RalfKeymasterNever checked it myself TBH, but if there is not even one cloud profile, it might be a case of some anti cheat mechanism preventing vorpX to hook into the game. Always a possibiloty with online games.
If the game doesn’t even show in your headset when you launch it while vorpX is running, that’s quite likely the case.
Your best bet in this case would be the vorpX desktop viewer with the game set to run windowed. That’s a rather poor substitute to actually hooking into the game, of course, but at least it would allow you to play it in 2D in your headset.
RalfKeymasterNope, vorpX takes care that profiles work the same way across all headsets.
One unfortunate exception exists: there was a bug until last summer that affected FullVR user profiles not created with an Oculus headset with an ImageZoom value <1.0. If you happen to download one of these user profiles the ImageZoom value will not have the exact same effect the user profile author intended.
That does not apply to any official profile though and also not to newer/updated user profiles, so in general there is nothing that has to be adjusted per headset.
RalfKeymasterI’m not really sure whether you understood yet that there is no way to get the image looking right FOV wise in this game without ImageZoom unless you find a way to circumvent its recently introduced FOV cap. So that’s what you have to understand first.
Apart from that: your calculation is backwards. With a lower imageZoom value you need less pixels for 1:1 mapping, not more. The correlation between the setting and the resolution is linear: when you lower the setting by 20%, you need 20% less pixels in either direction.
Also for a pixel match calculation you would have to factor in the lens distortion correction that is applied by SteamVR. VR headsets aren’t monitors. Game pixels are never mapped directly to screen pixels, not even in native games, there always is a distortion algorithm applied before the image is displayed to counteract lens distortion.
Which pretty much brings us back to my original reply: unless you find a way to circumvent the game’s recently introduced FOV cap, you need ImageZoom for FullVR mode. Select a 16:9 resolution in this particular case that you consider looking good enough while still providing performance that you consider good enough. That’s the most useful advice I can give you.
RalfKeymasterI can’t really tell you anything fundamentally different than above twice already, sorry.
If you set the game res to be square and then use the ImageZoom option in vorpX to compensate for missing FOV like necessary for SC you get borders on all sides, that’s how it works. Hence you should set a 16:9 res in this particular case. With that you only get top/bottom bars when ImageZoom is used. Still not 100% perfect, but obviously way better.
Square resolutions only make sense in games that don’t require ImageZoom to compensate for missing FOV. Unfortunately the Star Citizen devs recently removed the ability to force a high FOV via console/ini, so compensating with ImageZoom is your next best bet to get an FOV that doesn’t make the game look zoomed/distorted in FullVR mode.
If that all sounds too confusing, just do the below without thinking about it further. That’s as good as it gets unless you find a way to raise the game’s FOV enough again.
1. Select a 16:9 res
2. Max out the FOV in the game options
3. Set the ImageZoom in vorpX to ~0.65 (should be the default)
RalfKeymasterPlease try a profile and/or full factory reset in the config app, especially if you already fiddled with settings in the vorpX menu, which should not be necessary at all. With default settings you can just start playing after restarting the game once when vorpX prompts you to do so to apply the FOV. You shouldn’t have to adjust anything besides maybe the resolution if you want better image quality.
You don’t have to set the resolution manually in this case. DirectVR can do that for System Shock 2. You can select a quality preset in the vorpX menu. You should see a message about that in the headset as well as in the top left corner of the game window.
There is no 6DOF tracking for this game. 6DOF tracking is only available in Geometry 3D games and games with Direct VR head tracking.
