RalfKeymasterI have no experience with your PS4 gamepad mapping software, sorry. I wouldn’t really be surprised though if using an external/additional gamepad mapping tool causes glitches.
RalfKeymasterPlease check whether mouse and/or VR controllers work. If they do, maybe you can use those instead of your gamepad.
RalfKeymasterGothic/Gothic II work fairly well with the dgVoodoo renderer.
The problem with user made mods is that their creators fairly often break/change things, which in turn can easily break vorpX profiles. Maintining a profile for a mod of a 15 year old game that not too many people are interested in anymore is just not feasible, sorry.
dgVoodoo is a bit special in this regard since it provides access to multiple games, which justifies investing a bit of time. However, please still understand the dgVoodoo profile as a little bonus for those interested in trying some old games. That’s what it is, nothing more.
RalfKeymasterA few more tests, this is what you can expect: 3D: many DX7/8 games, no 3D: DX6 and below, Glide.
Also no good general way to separate HUD/shadows without breaking other things in many cases (or entire games). Would have to be done on a game to game basis and would still not be possible for every game due to shaders usually being re-used for multiple things by dgVoodoo.
Still quite nice to play around with a few DX7/8 games. You’ll probably like it.
RalfKeymasterFirst person games are shown in FulVR mode (360 environments) while third person games usually open in immersive screen mode per default since typically that makes most sense for these games.
You can change any game to FullVR mode in the vorpX ingame menu. Press [DEL] to open the menu while in the game. The option is the first one in the menu and called “Play Style”.
One very important caveat, don’t skip this: Full VR mode requires a game’s camera field of view to match the FOV of your headset or the image will look “zoomed in” or warped. vorpX can do that for many, but not for all games. If vorpX can’t do it for a game you want to try in FullVR mode, check the “Essential Hints Guide” in the vorpX help. It explains the general options you have in regard to FOV. What can be done varies from game to game.
RalfKeymasterIf your headset supports Steam VR, you can use the Steam VR mode in vorpX instead of the generic headset which should also provide head tracking. Just select “Steam VR” in the device selection box in vorpX in that case. Judging from a brief check of an online article about your headset that should work.
Otherwise you best bet is probably OpenTrack for head tracking, although the chance of that working isn’t too great either if your headset doesn’t support a standard way of reading out head tracking data.
RalfKeymasterNot really help, but an explanation: the game in the supported games list is Knights of the old Republic (KOTOR), which is a single player RPG, not SWTOR.
RalfKeymasterThe name field has to look EXACTLY like in the key e-mail. Your name followed by the e-mail address in parantheses. It’s best to copy & paste the whole line to avoid typos.
RalfKeymasterYou can create a trouble shoot data archive with information about your system and log files in the config app (trouble shooting page). Don’t expect an immediate answer, but I’ll take a look at it for potential improvements of the GTA V auto-resolution.
Just in case: please also double check whether the game actually runs at 800×600 or just displays that value in its menu, should be easy enough to verify on your monitor. GTA V says 800×600 in its options whenever uncommon resolutions (like set by vorpX) are used while in fact everything works as it should.
RalfKeymasterSemi good news for you: having a few hours to burn I fumbled around with dgVoodoo2 and the latest vorpX dev build a bit more last week and was able to get two games working with 3D: Gothic and Gothic 2 (both DX 7 I think). However, still no 3D in most other cases, namely the actual Glide games I tried.
Please understand that this can’t be a priority. While experimenting with very old games is a lot of fun, it’s not what the majority of users expects from vorpX, so I can only spend time on something like that every now and then in my spare time.
With the next vorpX version the dgVoodoo2 profile will be included semi-oficially, so you can use it as a base for custom profiles. Don’t expect too much though. Judging from my tests last week you will get 3D only in a few cases, most dgVoodoo2 games will display in 2D though.
RalfKeymasterIf you have a commandline.txt file in your game folder from applying custom resolutions earlier, please remove it. Also try without mods to make sure it’s not some mod causing problems.
If none of that solves the issue, I’d be glad if you could send me a trouble shooting data archive to support |at| vorpx com.
RalfKeymasterLet vorpX handle the resolution, which is the default way of doing this in newer vorpX versions. If you do, it sets an even narrower resolution than 4:3/5:4. Helps with performance.
RalfKeymasterI understood you pretty well, apparently I didn’t make myself clear enough. The parameters above (0.0, 0.0, 1.0) provide a side by side image without any distortion.
The rest of my post mainly tries to explain that a game’s camera field of view also plays a crucial role regarding perceived distortion, so if you still see image distortion after applying the correct lens distortion yourself, you need to make sure games run with the proper FOV for your phone/lens combo, which vorpX can do for many games after you dialed in the right FOV for your phone/lens combo in the config app.
Lens distortion is the easy part, the hard part is FOV since it has to be solved on a per game basis in many different ways.
RalfKeymasterThe game profile received several updates/enhancements in the last two vorpX versions, so you can be certain that it works fine here, it’s also used by others on a regular basis.
Remove all saved games as suggested above and make sure that Steam doesn’t copy them back by disabling cloud sync. Also delete any .ini file you may have as leftovers from previous installs.
Your issue is not a vorpX issue.
RalfKeymasterThere is no general Unity profile, you may have to try several ones and there is no guarantee that one will work for your game, but you could try these profiles:
Off the top of my head, there probably are a few more.
Unity 4 (DX9):
Slender: The Arrival
Gone HomeUnity 5 (DX11):
Fe
Firewatch
Inside
Ori and the Blind Forest
Life is Strange: Before the Storm
The Long Dark -
