20/01/10
vorpX 20.1.1 has been released.
This is a medium sized maintenance release, mainly aimed at improving/updating existing profiles and addressing a few issues that have been reported recently. On top of that Immersive Screen and Cinema play styles can now be configured for comfortable reclined gaming and a couple of smaller improvements have been implemented. The release also comes with three new game profiles.
As a new service some short descriptions of the games that got profiles added. Let me know if you consider that useful or unnecessary fluff.
Journey
This is an enhanced version of the PS3/4 masterpiece from 2013 that finally was released for PC a few months ago. Find your way through a barren desert in search for a mysterious mountain on the horizon. A unique game with a whopping Metacritic score of 92 for its original release that you will find in many top lists of the best games ever created. More captivating than ever in 3D with vorpX’s Immersive Screen Mode.
A Hat in Time
Feeling grumpy today? This is for you then. A cute 3D-platformer that will put a smile on your face immediately. Who needs Mario when you can have A Hat in Time? Defaults to Immersive Screen Mode, but if you have the stomach, you might also want to try FullVR, vorpX takes care of adjusting the FOV etc.
Little Nightmares
A Steam surprise hit from roughly a year ago. Guide a little girl in a yellow raincoat through her little nightmares in this 2.5D platformer. If you haven’t tried that already, you will be surprised how much fun games like this can be on a huge (virtual) 3D screen. A must for everyone who likes games like Limbo or Inside even a little bit.

Great. I also implemented a fix for the underlying issue in the meantime. One of those little code changes that are an improvement in general, but have a negative side effect in one or the other unusual case. With the next update Arma 3 will run fullscreen again.
No hooking problem here with Arma 3 and the latest vorpX.
Hooking issues that suddenly occur after a vorpX update may be related to some overzealous AV software disliking the new version.
If you use anything else than Windows Defender, try to disable your AV software for testing. Note that some third AV programs are notoriously hard to disable, you may have to disable several modules. If that helps, try to add an exclusion for the vorpX program (typically C:\Program Files (x86)\Animation Labs\vorpX) and the game install folder.
Alternatively consider switching to Windows Defender, which is less likely to cause problems. On Windows 10 Windows Defender kicks in automatically when you uninstall third party AV programs.
I have been playing ARMA3 for a while on a Pimax. Since the last Vorpx update in December the game will no longer start in Vorpx. When I start the game the screen goes blank with the Vorpx logo at the bottom and just stays like that. The VR goggles display show ARMA3 starting next. Anyone else come across this?
Thank you Ralf i think i get max payne 2 to work its crash when ever i press esc to go back in the game menu, but its work. Its hard to use the vorpx menu i shoot when i press with mouse in vorpx menu or move when i navigate with keyboard keys maybe pause key work. dgVoodoo2 is really interesting profile maybe can i play classic carmageddon 3dfx next is it possible ? I was playing with dgVoodoo2 carmageddon 1, 2 3dfx emulation back in the day.
Hello Vorpx community hope everyone is good.
Having a slight problem here with Arma2 and Vorpx.
The game starts and all I can see is the games background animation, there is no menu UI ie Singleplayer, Multiplyer, Quit game etc.
I have literally tried all the Vorpx settings ie Full VR mode etc and no luck, I’ve changed the games resolution and interface resolution to 4k, 1080, 720 and still no luck.
What I can see is some sort of transparent square in the centre of the screen but there’s no UI or anything, just a blank transparent square?
Has anyone got any idea why there’s no UI on this game? Is there some sort of 3D UI setting active?
Thankyou for your time and hope to speak soon.
Hi. I’ve had Vorpx working for a short while in one game (Farming Simulator 19) And I stopped to play another non VR game, rebooted my computer (due to the headset not waking up bug) and tried playing arma 3 and Farming simulator 19 with both games having inverted head tracking despite any options I set in the games and in the Vorpx menu. I have also tried factory resetting vorpx and even reinstalled vorpx entirely to try to fix it. Im running windows mixed reality with the HP windows mixed reality headset. Windows is up to date, my graphics drivers are up to date. Any help will be appreciated.
Thx. I did a longer test session.
Apart from the window-mode-advice I had done everything before (even restore settings). But did it again – with no effect. The Long Dark and Arma 3 are running well – as in the past and without any addressed issues (The long dark looks even better though!).
Since the problem occurs with Arma 2 and Take on Mars only, I thought its an issue with the game profile. But I am running out of ideas. It might be a freak-problem.
If there are not any ideas left, I ll wait until I set up my tribble boot (reinstall OS in one or two month time) and see if it occurs on the new OS too. Best
I have trouble hooking Arma II: black Vive display, but working head-tracking (observable on the computer screen). Only a mild glow at the edge of the HMD.
I rest to the factory vorpx-profile. I reinstalled Arma II completely.
With other games vorpx just works fine (Arma 3, Long Dark), only the Arma II profile seems to make trouble. Any suggestions? Thx
I have refereed to this post for the Arma3 config: https://www.vorpx.com/forums/topic/arma-3-settings/
where you explicitly call to enable Head Tracking.
Only without OpenTrack, with OpenTrack there would probably some kind of conflict between OpenTrack and vorpX’s head tracking.
it seems like it is now working when disabling the VorpX headtracking but unfortunately there is some kind of delay (50-70ms) with the headtracking so i might have to tweek the settings a bit.
Thank you.

I have tried to start Arma with and without opentrack (2.3.1-beta3).
I dont own any gamepads nor joysticks etc. Only mouse and keyboard.
I will try to disable VorpX head tracking, but i can not take use of the ingame menu because i cannot see it^^.
Hey,
I have read a lot of posts related how to setup Arma3 for VR. I have read through the basic trouble shooting but still i have some weird display when starting ARMA3 in VR mode.
You can see that here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BVziMxCfyxQ&feature=youtu.be
(dont mind the times the recording went black, this happens because i did not move the headset)

I took a few 3d 360 screenshots of Metro Exodus in Nvidia Ansel today. These can be viewed in Virtual Desktop or on the Oculus Go. Perhaps this could give ralf an idea for how awesome this could be in Geometry 3d ;)
These are stereo cubemaps similar to Carmack’s render the Metaverse contest (the format). Looks amazing and really gives you a sense of what a AAA game like this would look like in VR.. *sigh* One day.
