NipOcParticipantI had set the fov to 120 (applied profile, pressed f11 in-game and the fov got bigger).
The scene in the video is the one where I noticed it the most, it became much less obvious in the following areas.
I have this ,,distortion” in Bioshock, Borderlands 2 and some source games, but not in Skyrim or Mass Effect.

to you first point, they call the feature VRboost and the feature is described like this:…to reduce latency to bare minimum, to make it possible to separate head tracking from mouse control, to allow game controllers to properly function…
and since I tried a few games it seems to work
to the second, I tried borderlands 2 and bioshock infinite again and the Hud is still in the lower left and upper right corner, where I can´t see it without “edge peek,” but I don`t know if this is the case in other games
(this is how borderlands 2 looks in the other driver with Hud moved into vision)

to the fifth, I didn´t change any settings and you even mentioned the fisheye effect yourself, you said that smart AR introduces vertical distortion, but others said too that it´s also a problem in other modes.

This problem becomes less obvious with a higher fov (but is still noticeable) and might be only bothering me (it´s not that game breaking as it might sound in my first post). I`ll try changing some options again and see if this will help.to the last, with “more time,” I meant creating the VRboost profile since they need cheat engine for them (tried to make my own profile and it took an enormous amount of time, more than the shader profile), but I never created Vorpx profiles, so I don`t know how much work it is, so I´ll just believe you.

t think VorpX is a bad driver and I appreciate how much work you put into this and I also appreciate the features that you add with every release. I have much fun with the cinema mode, which works really well and is perfect for third person games and if you calibrate the driver right (head tracking, 3D depth ...), the normal mode can also be an enjoyable experience (if you pause now and then and dont move your head quick, to prevent motion sickness).My first post (maybe even this one) may seem a bit harsh because I mostly mentioned problems, but I didn´t want them to seem insignificant and I also didn´t write my opinion or conclusion.
And my conclusion is that VorpX is still a beta driver and all problems can be fixed and even in this state the experience can be enjoyable. Compared to the other driver, VorpX isn´t the losing one (even if it may sound like this), the other driver got rid of many of the problems I mentioned here, but VorpX has more features, a bigger forum, is definitely more user-friendly, has (in my opinion) a better “basis” and therefore more potential (Both have there pros and cons).
And to answer the question, yes it has added enough (many) features, like position tracking, (I think) the game optimizer, fov enhancement, updated profiles… to be an enjoyable experience (as mentioned above).

DukealiciousParticipantUpdate: Renaming Metal Gear Rising’s executable to borderlands2 works well. Set to z-normal, stereo strength 200, letterbox 2, and zoom .80. It is playable and finding that camera mod would put it just over the edge to a recommended game.
DukealiciousParticipantStereo3d gaming has never been easy. It has it’s own challenges. You should read all the official setup posts. With all games in Vorpx start by setting the FOV to 120 or the highest you can provided it is above 90 at least. Do this by ingame sliders, ini edits, console commands, the built in Vorpx game optimizer, Vorpx menu FOV adjustments, or programs like Flawless Widescreen or Widescreen Fixer. Since you are a developer you should be able to pick this stuff up very quick. In the Vorpx menu ingame try setting it to “Letterbox 2” I find that this combined with an FOV of 120 seems to eliminate any view distortion when looking around.
Next you will need to tweak your mouse sensitivity til it matches your headtracking. There are a number of ways to do this whether through the vorpx menu, the game menu, inis, xpadder mouse emulation, or a combination of all the techniques til it fits.
Then you need to set your graphics so you can maintain 75 fps at all times whether in combat or complex outdoor scenes. Use Z3D if you cannot maintain the framerates at the graphic detail you desire in Geo3d.
If it sounds like a lot of work sometimes it can be, but once you have it all setup correctly games in Vorpx are the best experiances you can have in the Rift. Bioshock Infinite or Borderlands 2 in Vorpx blow any demo out on Oculus Share out of the water.
For Skyrim and a gamepad it is better to just disable the 360 pad in Skyrim game menu and in the Vorpx ingame menu. Then use xpadder to map keyboard and mouse imputs to your 360 pad.
Lots of people charge for beta access. That is Steam greenlight and any other early access game like Elite Dangerous. Id rather get a chance to use Vorpx now with updates here and there rather than wait for CV1 release a year from now.

goshopsParticipantI didn’t see a way to edit my previous post, so a double.
Also, to specify the menu, sometimes the image doesn’t zoom back out after exiting the menu. Though I haven’t noticed any patterns to replicate it, it seems to be random but if I do notice a pattern I’ll let you know.

You might have to clean the metadata so you can use it with your profile, also I have a Steam copy, and I am still at the beginning of the game, about to face the first boss with the jump pads.
goshopsParticipantIt does, and I don’t remember seeing an option to map the controller options like that and I’ve tried various times of turning the rift and hoping to see something change in the game settings or in the vorpx menu, though perhaps I was doing it wrong. Regardless, I do have head tracking now in most games, trying to get head tracking in Test Drive Unlimited 2 and Flight Simulator X but haven’t been successful with them yet.
I’ve had no troubles with Dirt 3 or Borderlands Pre-Sequel, took a bit to get Skyrim and F1 2012/14 to work but they work now.

claytontParticipantIv been having the same issues as you when trying to get the gamepad to work properly. The way vorpx handles gamepad imputs doesnt alow for deep customization which is fine since there are programs like xpadder that fill that need. However the problem still persists because the internal gamepad seems to have inputs for buttons that simply cant be remapped and it seems to be causing problems with xpadder. When I start a game the gamepad works flawlessly but as soon as I hit the left thumbstick it brings up a weird vorpx menu with numbers that dont seem to serve any function and after I close that all my buttons are messed up. I cant run anymore, sheathing weapons makes me run forward indefinitely and the start and select buttons do other random things.
As a side note, these issues seem to only affect skyrim and farcry 3 as apposed to bioshock infinite, borderlands 2 and COD MW3 which work flawlessly.

bcozierParticipantWhat Oculus runtime are u using 0.41 or 0.42? You should use 0.41 since that’s what the current vorpx was made for…although I’ve tried 0.42 with borderlands and it works fine with vorpx.

To overcome 62fps limit, search for smooth and change these lines to

MaxSmoothedFrameRate=0To enable Vsync, search for Vsync and change that line to
UseVsync=True
If you are using your rift as the primary display that should give you 75fps with vsync on.

willypatParticipantI was getting flickering pretty bad with some games with geo on…I have a 5870 card. Try your game in windowed or fullscreen windowed if its an option. Borderlands 2 flickered real bad until I used fullscreen windowed.

Windows 7 Pro 64-bitI do have MSI Afterburner and MSI Gaming App installed, but it doesn’t matter if I run those utilities (in any mode) or not run the utilities at all, B.I. crashes. I have not tried completely uninstalling the MSI utilities though. My reasoning is those utilities are installed and I can run Skyrim and Borderlands 2 just fine (all I’ve had time to test so far), so it’s unlikely to be the MSI utilities causing the crash. But of course, with troubleshooting, until you actually nail it down to a real cause, everything stays on the table as a suspect :-)
