It’s a bit hard to see, but that certainly is not a vorpX logo. Provided it’s not a display defect, it’s probably a lens reflection.
Most importantly check with other games, might be some bright screen element in this particular game. Also change the cinema background to “None” in the vorpX menu or switch the “Play Style” to “Immersive Screen Mode”. Maybe it’s one of lights in the vorpX cinema environment that reflects in the lens. If that does not help try in a completely dark room to make 100% sure it’s not some lightsource from outside the headset. Assuming it’s a reflection, there has to be a source somewhere.
To make this clear again: vorpX does not draw anything over the image in the headset.
Yeah, I guess I did misunderstand you. I had no clue you were using an HMD. Right on! OK, well, AOE Online has no official profile, so its not super surprising that its only showing up in 2D. However, you could try creating a profile for it using one of these profiles: http://rjkole.com/gamestuff/engines/index.php?selengine=Havok
The game is listed as coming out in 2011, so just use search (CRTL+F) to look for previous year games to find established profiles. For instance, Dark Souls, Left 4 Dead 2, Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising all have listed profiles (you can tell because they have the Pipes || after the year).
In the VorpX Config, you just have to download (“Import”) one of those profiles from the cloud, then in the Local Profiles panel, locate the newly downloaded profile, then select “Create Custom Profile” give it the name of the Game. In this case, Age of Empires Online.
Now, locate the new profile you just made in the same Local Profiles panel (It’ll have the name you gave it). After selecting it, associate it with the actual game .exe file (Under “Assigned Programs” there should be a blank box, but to its immediate right, press “Add” locate the main .exe file for the game).
Next, press “Apply” on the VorpX Config Window, and try starting AOE Online. If it hooks, and displays in 3D, you got it! (You may want to go into the VorpX in-game menu by pressling DEL and tweaking and testing the 3D strength, etc, and flipping between 3D modes to be sure that it is actually in 3D)
Finally, you may have to try more than one of the games in the Havok list in the link I gave you above from RJK.
Sorry if this is confusing, I’d do it for you, but I don’t own AOE Online to test it out.
Good luck! 👍😃
everquest 1 is such a old game, i believe it runs with dX9 ?
i have no idea if you can get this game to work with vorpx, been like 10 years since i last played everquest 1 so didnt have a chance to try it.
you could try to copy game using dx9 and link those profile copy to everquest exe, try one by one maybe some profile could hook ?
you can run unsupported game just fine using vorpx, lately i ran darksiders 3 from start to finish with Z3D/G3D using some official profile game, but you have to try by yourself and pray to get one working.
Hello there,
I m very new with vorpx maybe I did something wrong etc. I m trying to get Jedi Knight 1 to work with vorpx…unfortunately there are no custom profiles for this gmae out there yet. So I tried to hook it up with vorpx via dgvoodoo but when I start the game I only am able to play via cinema-mode not real 3d vr. Can anybody help me out plz. Is it possible to play this great 90s gem inside vr??
I use WMR and SteamVR to use VorpX. I don’t have an O+ though (lucky you!). If I were experiencing this problem I’d uninstall SteamVR and reinstall it. If you haven’t used SteamVR to play VR in the past, maybe you don’t have “Windows Mixed Reality for SteamVR” installed? Its on steam. I’m guessing you do, but there is always a chance. Also, in the SteamVR settings (I’m guessing you know how to get there, I’ll put a video below) you can adjust super sampling, which may or may not be a problem. Also, I’m guessing you don’t have crazy, super high settings and mods installed for whatever game you are trying? Sorry if some of my questions or suggestions are totally wack, just stabbing in the dark.
I tried the original profile, but nothing works well so far with geometry 3d or not. Does anyone have tips on settings good for this game. My PC spec is Intel 8800 with 1080ti. My god is always low as well. Thanks
i tried many profiles, but while the game hooks with some of them, there is no Z3D.. let alone G3D, i heard performance is not really good on flat screen, so for now G3D is probably a no go, but Z3D would be great !
so if anyone here manages to make it works in Z3D, please let us know :D
I am new to vorpx. I have been trying out Star Wars Battlefront 2 with my Dell Visor WMR headset. The VR images have a horribly high contrast. Darkish colours are near black and light colours are bleached out. There are only the two extremes. Altering the vorpX brightness will improve one (eg dark colours) whilst worstening the other (eg light colours), and reducing saturation removes colour. Is there a way to reduce the contrast so that the image is no extreme like this?

Also wondering if I can set a key to toggle head movement on and off. This feature would be great for cockpit style games where you can also toggle ‘free look’ on and off in game.
That sounds indeed odd. Just a shot in the dark but if you happen to use an Oculus headset, before reinstalling Windows you could try to switch vorpX to SteamVR mode instead of native Oculus just in case it’s some weird issue regarding the Oculus runtime.
I am huge fan of 3rd person games as well. Some “older” ones that come on my mind, Arcania, Divinity 2, Hellgate: London (if you like HUGE monsters and extremely noisy fights, probably my favorite game so far), Avatar (riding the dragon makes you feel like youre actually flying, crazy experience), Cursed Mountain (Adventure), Damnation, Dark Sector (IIRC), Game of Thrones , Hunted: The Demons Force, Rise of the Argonauts, Turok (2008), Torchlight .. Two Worlds of coarse, Velvet Assassin.
