Skyrim has an issue, apparently unsolvable, were you can’t use headtracking while playing with a controller. To fix that issue, you can either:

-Play with keyboard and mouse, and headtracking
-Remap your controller so that emulates keyboard and mouse, by using Vorpx internal tool or other external tools. I wasn’t totally successful with that.
-Play without headtracking (positional tracking only)
-Skip this one and hope for a proper native VR version on the next year, if Fallout will be a success. This is what i chose with this game.

Some of what you write is true, most of it is pure nonsense. Just play at another resolution if the suggested standard res is too low for you. Or maybe you played everything in cinema mode or whatever you mean by lacking screen distortion.

I’m using VorpX since DK2 days and to date my best VR experiences still are VorpX games. Skyrim, Fallout 4, Portal 2, Half Life (Black Mesa), just to name a few, are a lot more immersive experiences than 95% of the stuff on Oculus Home. Once there are more real games for VR that will obviously change, but it will be quite a while until then.

Menu scaling is not available in EdgePeek mode on purpose. With a lot of games menus aren’t always fully usable while being scaled (Fallout Pipboy is a prominent example), that’s why it gets scaled back in EdgePeek mode.

The next vorpX version will have head tracking without mouse simulation for Skyrim though. A nice side effect of this is that it solves the glitch you describe since the cursor won’t move anymore when you move your head.

It’s been a very long time since I’ve last used my Oculus DK2 and I thought I’d get back into using it again. Only problem is, it doesn’t seem to want to work with vorpX anymore.

I had to download the latest Oculus runtime software in order for vorpX to co-operate at all. But whenever I try to run anything through voprX, all I get is a black screen on my DK2 with just the audio. I tried this with a few games (System shock 2, Fallout 4, Fallout New Vegas just to name a few) and all of them do the exact same thing.

I tried everything recommended elsewhere on these forums and elsewhere but nothing seems to work at all so far~

Heck, I’ll take any of those other games. I find it impossible to go back to regular 2D games after playing so much with VorpX.
I have a HTC-Vive myself, so I’m liking the Vive support so far (keep it up!). Been playing fallout 4 with it, and loving it. Playing in Lounge mode, geometry, close up is just like being in actual VR without losing all the UI stuff. Absolutely Love it! Best thing I’ve experienced in gaming for years!!

Definitely add as many games support in Geometry as you can, that’s my 2 cents. And keep the Vive branch up to date as well, its been great so far!

I have put in all the reconmended settings i can find (ini edits, vorpx optimized gsme, etc). I can get the game to look right if i am stsnding still looking foreard. The scale on things look right, but the problem is the mition and head tracking. It instantly creates a neasiating feeling because it just feels and moves slightly off. It feels as though it moves a little further than it should. Has anyone gotten it to have head tracking like oculus home or orher native apps? I was able to get decent playability on skyrim back on dk1 days, but second time around, and nothing feels right so far.

I don’t see SkyVR happening either, though I wish it would. As for Fallout VR, I’ll buy to see how they did with native, it but if it’s teleport only, I’ll stick to VorpX/Original. Teleport in an open world game is sheer idiocy.

Honestly, I doubt that Skyrim remastered, comes with native support.
This would see a big part of my dream come true, but do not think so at all for several reasons.

    * Only several days left for its release, if so, never commented anything.

    * ID software are not friends now with Oculus, Fallout 4 Native support is announced for 2017 with HTC Vive, probably work with Oculus Cv1 by SteamVr, but this insurance company that does not provide at all support Cv1 on their own or effort .
I would put my hand in the fire for this belief.

    * Finally, Fallout 4 has only shown to date a demo system with teleport, I personally need another option extra of movement, in order to progress forward with joy,but pointed out, recharge and performing actions with touch or motion controls.

However, I hope the gods listen to his words.

If one day, we have games Bethesda, with native support, and motion controls, and choice available to walk forward, at the same time, then my dream into virtual reality, it will come true completely.

You can switch to Geometry 3D in the vorpX ingame menu. Fallout 4 defaults to Z-Buffer 3D, which doesn’t look as good as Geometry 3D, but is a lot faster (almost twice in Fallout 4).

Caveat: for Geometry 3D to work at a VR compatible frame rate in FO4 (at least largely), you will need a GTX 1070/1080 and play with medium graphics settings.

If you want to reduce potentially visible bars, make sure the Image Zoom slider is at its max. position in the vorpX ingame menu (image page). Just be aware that this will require a higher FOV and resolution to look correct/good. Both further reduce performance.

Decent performance (45fps+) is extremely important for a comfortable experience, so you should always primarily keep an eye on that. ALT+F displays the current frame rate. Depending on your PC you may (and probably will) have to make compromises for games as demanding as Fallout 4.

    Hi,
I have been tying to configure Fallout 4 on the CV1 but everything looks flat like I am just playing on a giant monitor with no 3D. I have tried the game settings optimizer and local/cloud profiles. The vorpx ingame settings don’t make a difference and it’s the vanilla game. I had the same problem with crysis but I just used the game settings optimizer and it fixed it. There is also a giant gap on the bottom and smaller ones on the top and sides. The edge peek is off so it is not creating them and I have re-configured the rift sensor and the center positional tracking multiple times but that doesn’t seem to make a difference. Are there fixes for these problems?

    Thanks

Not a new 3D reconstruction method, but something that simplifies setting up games tremendously and enhances the overall experience.

To not make an ultra large secret out of it: it’s a hugely expanded and refined “Direct Head Tracking” (name will change since it does more now), which previously was only available a bit hidden for Fallout 4 to test the basics. For games that fully support this, it gives perfect 1:1 rotational head tracking, perfectly calculated FOV and in some cases also positional tracking (which means finally positional tracking for Z3D modes!) simply by pressing a button and then waiting a few seconds. Expect about 30 games with this in the next update.

Simply put: no more configuration hassles + better head tracking for games that support this feature.

I vote for a top priority with this profile game,at the time of their arrival time of launch (October).
Every day, count time remaining and I wonder if we will be able to make better use of hardware with the new version of Skyrim (remastered),with some improvements, including 64bit version.

My main goal with Vorpx, fully well above any other existing games, are definitely Bethesda games (full vr and 3D geometry),with the help of some mods and tweaks. (Skyrim, Oblivion, Fallout 3 / NV / 4)

I recently got a new GTX 1080. I still I have doubts whether this unit and return to jump or not,Titan x pascal and i7 6700k cpu …

Hello, thanks for making vorpX, I’m not sure how long you could just live in oculus home before getting bored. I am trying to get FO4 running using the rift CV1 and vorpX 16.2.0, here is where I am at:

Rift working OK – no issues, can do all the usual VR things through oculus home ect.
I have managed to get the vorpX desktop viewer working OK. very nice for movies.
Set-up FO4 through the vorpX interface, and set up the profile.
Disabled windows defender, and have added all the voprX .exe’s to Malwarebytes exclusions and even turned it off.
In the windows services I have disabled anything that I have seen recommended to be off for vorpX.
Reduced from 3 to 1 monitor.
    Disabled all MODS for FO4.
    Created a vorpX shortcut also.

So when I launch from Steam the pre-loader window opens, when I click on play the load window disappears, then comes back, and so on.

When I access the FO4 exe directly I get the long permissions error.

I have been looking at this on and off most of the weekend, but with no luck. Am I looking for a needle in a haystack? or have others had issues similar to mine?

Thanks for your help with this in advance… Cheers

It might work despite the warning that is shown (depends on how exactly the d3d9.dll that you put into the Fallout 3 hooks the game), but if not, there is nothing that can be done.

Since such an override DLL almost certainly hooks some of the functions that vorpX needs to hook, there is no way to handle such a case in a controlled manner, hence the warning is shown. Under normal circumstances there should never be any system DLL override in a game directory.
