Prey has head tracking as well as GTA V, just not Direct VR head tracking. In games without Direct VR head tracking the mouse is simulated for head tracking. For most newer profiles that is dialed in to work 1:1 out of the box, but if you changed a game’s mouse sensitivity, you may have to adjust the head tracking sesnsitivity in vorpX accordingly since both depend on each other.

If you have no head tracking at all in both games, please check whether you maybe indvertanly disabled head tracking in the vorpX config app.

GTA V resolution: 800×600 sounds weird. Please first try to add custom resolutions to your display driver (“Custom Resolution” section in the vorpX help). If that does not help, you can disable the resolution auto setting in the vorpX menu (“Direct VR” page) and set a higher (4:3) resolution yourself in the game’s options menu.

GTA V performance: GTA V is quite demanding, so first to reduce graphics details. If that is not enough to get decent performance on your machine, switch the “3D-Reconstruction” in vorpX to “Z-Buffer Normal”. Doesn’t look as natural 3d-wise, but is a lot faster.

    Ralf,
Vorpx is definitely running, as I have the icon in the task bar.

Do I need to disable watcher prior to gta v starting as I read this can cause issues when social club starts up

One issue I did find was that vorpx was hooking and displays a message to say this will take some time and gives you 3 options to either do nothing, cancel or exclude the program, do you know what I should do in this instance? is this a good sign, still have a blank hmd headset

can I also thank you for your patience and promptness with answering my questions it is greatly appreciated this end

    Kind regards

    Jamie

Thanks. The best thing is that the infamous semi-random $&%$*$ no Geometry 3D in GTA V bug is gone. Even better that it only took a single week to fix it…

I’ve only tried that resolution so far in 17.3.0 with Crysis and GTA V. Crysis works. It’s not just th commandline.txt file. This also happens in steam without that file when I set launch options (named it wrong in the previous post). This seems to be specific to GTAV, but I’ll try IV since it uses the same method.

i normally use z3d, not g3d for gta5… z3d is better and faster.

gta5 during the night hours slows down a lot (using the oculus rift and the Vorpx). what can i do?

Only the original Dear Esther is supported by vorpX. That probably won’t change with the next update, sorry.

Skyrim SE you can fix yourself right now by disabling the gamepad, which makes the scanner more reliable. With the next vorpX that won’t be necessary anymore.

The rest of the answers is true for the next vorpX version and for unmodded games, so if in doubt, remove any mods.

There never was any ‘uncorrect perspective’ issue with GTA V though except the too strong 3D in vehicles.

RE7 works quite well without any mod, everything is (and always was) configured automatically. Slight top/bottom bars to account for a bit of missing FOV, but nothing too offensive. Make sure to restore the profile to default in the config app if you adjusted settings for use with an FOV mod before.

Not sure about your config app issue in the other VR desktop apps. Works fine with the vorpX desktop viewer.

Thank you, Ralf. Your hard work and responsiveness is very much appreciated.

Are you saying the games are fixed now, or will be fixed in the next update?

IIRC, the Dear Esther source is no longer available on steam. I tried the Landmark Edition last month and didn’t have body control. E.g. if I turn 90 degrees to the right and walked forward, I instead walk sideways to the left. In other words, my head can turn 360 degrees, but my body stays stuck in one direction.

Do you know if the GTAVR mod still works with BorpX? It may be what’s been causing y distortion and flickering shadows.

Also, any word on Resident Evil 7? The mod made by CivilWare to correct the game’s FOV no l8nger works since the latest steam update.

Last one, I’m still getting a blank window when I open VorpX configuration via the SteamVR Desktop. Virtual Desktop and Big Screen as well.

Gone Home: fixed, + new auto FOV via ini change.

Fear: no auto FOV of any kind currently (never has been), apparently there is way via an ini edit, I’ll check whether that can be automated.

Skyrim SE: IIRC there was some glitch that could make the scan fail while a gamepad is connected, which is fixed.

Dear Esther: always had full Direct VR (Source engine version).

RtcW: made some changes (again). Should work with current Steam/GOG, probably not with old CD versions.

GTA V: has DirectVR FOV, which is perfectly correct. Too strong vehicle 3D is fixed, in case that is what you meant, also the infamous semi random no-G3D issue is finally fixed, which only took 30 hours or so…

Stanley Parable: works fine here. I’m aware of your report re this, but unable to reproduce.

No matter what i do, Vlc wont hook. gta v and witcher 3 hook fine no issues.

any idea? vlc just shuts down no error message when i why to drop a movie into it, and when i just launch vlc with steam vr and vorpx running, it starts normally without hooking.

tried creating a new profile for it to, by copying the vlc one and directing it to the vlc.exe

    Good news!!

Since we last talked about this, someone has discovered a way around the current EAC as found here:

(Not sure I can post direct link, so google search “fearless revolution EasyAntiCheat_x64.rar” should be page 11)

    1. Put Uplay in Offline mode
    2. Backup and replace EasyAntiCheat_x64.dll
    3. Add launch parameter “-eac_launcher” in steam or shortcut

    Now it Hooks!!

I’ve Uploaded a profile based on GTA5 that has working Z3D, welcome to give it a go. Use in offline SinglePlayer only. In game video settings, slide “Extended FOV” to max. Sometimes going to the menu disables Z3D, just switch it from windowed back to fullscreen until it comes back.

Only tested this briefly so far, but should be fun! Enjoy!

    Dellrifter:
Yeah I noticed that too, and disabled the uplay overlay as part of my winning combo. I’ll test it a bit more today to see if I can get it working reliably every time.
When Uplay does the complaining, I hit ok, and that is when I un-pause the vorpX watcher. Worked twice so far. (Haven’t tried it a 3rd time yet).
The ACO.ini hint helped too thanks! Much better with large FOV, and you can zoom the vorpX screen right in close to give that “Full VR” feel.

    Neida:
G3D is nice to have for most games, but in large open world games like this, I find that you don’t really miss it that much. You get a really good sense of 3D because of how large the world is. Some games, I can’t even tell (like GTA5). Plus, with the added performance boost of Z3D, you can crank all the game graphics up to Max. Even with a 1080ti, I don’t think you could do that on G3D.

I followed many tutorials on youtube and the forums but i still can’t get vorpX to work. I tried emailing the vorpX team but i haven’t gotten any response. I have an Oculus Rift, the new version that now costs $399.99 and set it up. It works fine with oculus games and steam VR games. I tried to see if it works on Skyrim and GTAV but the same thing happens to both. Whenever i launch a game and place the the headset on my head it remains in the Oculus App. It does not switch to the game. Please help.
