Sorry if this has already been answered, but in light of Tridef being shut down and making the software unusable for all users, in the event VorpX ever shut down, would the authentication requirement be patched out first? I understand the need for it while active, I was just hoping to get an official response on the matter.

Unfortunately i only played kingdom come with regular mods and vorpx, i wasnt aware of any motion control stuff going on with that one. If you got info on that, im 100% interested cause that game could be awesome if you were actually prepping the swings.

I really recommend tho – having been messing with VR since DK2.. Walking Dead Saints and Sinners is the best implementation of VR into an actual “GAME” that ive seen yet. I really would recommend you refund skyrim and fallout and get that if youre short on cash. Skyrim and Fallout are great – but they are very much so “vr tacked on” – it works, its fun, just like games in Vorpx are fun even tho they arent 100% VR…

But if youre really looking for the most legitimate “oh shit, this is what you CAN do with VR”… i think Walking Dead makes the strongest argument for VR that ive seen in all these years since DK2 first got out into the wild.

And i did try Dark messiah of Might and Magic and it just didnt hold up for me well enough to get past like the first hour or so.. might be exactly your type of game, so might have a blast with it.

My best vorpx experiences have been Dark Souls 3 and Sekiro with first person mods. Mass Effect andromeda with first person mod… and others but my brain cant think of em all right now, lol. i got evil within 2 running in vorpx at one point, i think i used a dishonored profile and that worked awesome, but people have said it doesnt work anymore with that profile, i dont know, youd have to test it yourself, but if you get it to work, it was awesome with the first person mode in that game.

Dark Souls 3 is great in first person vr if you wanted to try it but you cant use the lock on – you need to basically play a 2 handed rolling character without a shield or magic, the ‘mod’ to get it in first person just doesnt ‘play well’ with the lock on. For Sekiro its much smoother and that isnt really an issue, loved em both in Vorpx. Sekiro does have mods on nexusmods to add ‘invincibility frames’ to your dodge like Bloodborne if you wanted to make it a more ‘palatable’ experiene. It can be difficult if youre getting ganged up on in that game and dont have i frames in first person, i played without it, but i can definitely see how it could be essential for some players.

This is a pain in the a** to get working on newer Windows Os (1901) and up due to the NVidia 3D Vision driver is no longer supported it requires a hack to get newer drivers to work with the newer OS versions the work around is using a older NVidia driver 425.XX which will work but you must block driver updates via Group Policy.

ahhh its even worse than the instructions made it sound then haha, too bad, that woulda been cool :\ lol. Thanks for the info

Before I answer the question the usual Star Citizen disclaimer: the game is not officially supported due to its ever changing alpha status. The provided profile is meant for those you like to try the game nonetheless.

That said: a square resolution would only make sense for the ‘FullVR’ play style with perfectly matched FOV, I’m not sure whether that is still possible with the latest SC version since unfortunately it doesn’t allow to set the FOV via ini/console freely anymore.

The easiest way to get it working in FullVR is sticking to a 16:9 res, max out the FOV in the game options, and then use an image zoom value of ~0.65 (at the expense of a reduced vertical FOV). That’s what the profile does per default. Not perfect, but super easy. For a perfect solution you would have to find a way to raise FOV beyond the max value in the enu like it was possible in earlier SC versions.

BTW: Never use exact square resolutions, even for FullVR games with a high enough FOV. That can partially mess up G3D heuristics in some games. Always add about 5% or so horizontically.

@Ralf – ok, but how can i get rid of this “upscaled” feeling? – it’s really wired to play that way.

    @TheBalt
    – i’m on VR community since vive – sot pretty early, but i was always playing original VR games – the best one for me (for now) was Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice – after finishing i’ve got vorpX to play some full title again but as i said it’s not even touching that experience.

I’ll try walking dead – thanks for mentioning.

As i mentioned before i’ve tryed Alien Isolation on vorpX and it’s suck pretty bad. Then i’ve tryed free VR mod for that game and… it was outstanding – like the game was already wrote for VR – if you don’t believe me just check this out: https://github.com/Nibre/MotherVR/releases (for now i recommend 0.6.0 version cause 0.8.0 got some ugly bug with pressing the button all the time). But still on 0.6.0 it works very well.

Alien Isolation WAS developed for VR. It was a sideproject inside the development process while the DK2 was released. When Alien Isolation released on day 1 you could command line it to do VR with an Oculus DK2.

This is an entirely apples and bananas scenario, when you bring in games that are designed ground up for VR, which alien isolation specifically had a team building a VR version of the game while developing the actual game. It WAS built for VR – Vorpx is NEVER going to compare to native VR, if thats your barometer, then yeah, you wont get that experience out of Vorpx.

And honestly asking this to ‘work out of the box’ is just simply impossible. Vorpx is doing what these games were fundamentally not ‘built’ to do (which in the case of Alien Isolation, it was built for VR, thats why you found that good mod – its not a mod, theyre just skipping the command line stuff i had to do 5 years ago with the DK2)

So.. yeah, if youre basing it off of ‘it doesnt compare to REAL VR titles’… then no, Vorpx will never be what you want it to be.

If youre willing to say “hey playing dishonored 1 and 2 in full 3d, leaning around corners and everything sounds cool without motion controls – but i might have to fiddle with some settings for 20 minutes”… then youre a Vorpx user. If you dont want to have those kinds of game experiences, then yeah, its just not a program for you unfortunately.

I wish there was an easier way to do this stuff, but honestly, the tech here in vorpx is grade A compared to everything else on the market that even attempts to do what its doing. There have been others before, im not sure how long youve been in the VR communnity, but there were like 4 of these programs going around during DK2 days of trying to ‘turn old games’ in 3d vr games and Vorpx ended up being the best of the bunch that were trying it.. but this is all from like 4 years ago, if you werent around for all that then i can understand you not have the perspective of just how good vorpx is… cause i tried the alternatives.. they were not good. Vorpx works.. if youre willing to work with it. The others – they just didnt even have the basics down.. and thankfully Vorpx survived and we still getting updates :)

but if youre looking for a fun game anyhow – just tried walking dead saints and sinners.. its amazing! Go check out some vids of it if you get a chance, but totally worth a purchase, i think atleast

    Well i’ve tryed:

    – Crysis – doesn’t even start.
    – Shadow Warrior 2 – Everything is so much upscaled, dark (it’s heavy to see anything), when i’m turning or moving everything is shuttering – it’s unplayable.
    – Bioshock – far now the best – working pretty god but still everything is so upscaled.

I think i will not using vorpX for now i believe you shouldn’t charge money for this software. Where and how can i get my money back?

I wanted to add, the reason for my previous post trying to encourage you to keep the program isnt just because it does work when you find the rights settings.. but ive put it thru absurd scearios and the part that always works is vorpx.

I played Dark Souls 3 with a First person cheatengine mod with Geometry3d.

I played Mass Effect Andromeda with a first person mod with vorpx and geometry 3d.

I am currently in a first person mod playthru, with vorpx, in Sekiro.

This program can make games play in a way you never thought possible, coupled with the proper mods and stuff. Sekiro in first person VR is intense and amazing, Mass effect gets a bad rap but man, just gameplay wise in first person with that games insane combat system was an absolute blast.

I didnt mean to sound demeaning toward you in the previous post, i apologize, i just wanted to emphasize what this program CAN DO when you just work with it a little bit.. its totally up to you to ask for a refund, im not sure of those policies and like i said, i have nothing to do with the staff or company or anything, just a user… but this program has changed games i never thought would be fun to return to (like deus ex) or games into entirely new experiences like Sekiro modded out.

If you already got your refund and are done with it, all good.. just wanted you to know, this program has potential for incredible gaming experiences if youre willing to put the time into getting your settings right.. it sucks that the settings arent an easy across the board thing, but, it really just depends on each computer and their setup and preferences for how they want to play… what may seem like too complicated of options right now for you are going to be exactly the options you want once you learn the program a little bit. My best bet would maybe look around youtube for vorpx tutorials to maybe get your feet wet on the fundamental stuff..

but really man.. it made mass effect andromeda not suck. :P hooray for vorpx, they saved the mass effect franchise for me :) lol

Thanks for your time, sorry for bugging on your post twice

    take care!

You purchased a product that requires some ‘work’ from the user because it is doing something that was simply never intended – turning 2d games into VR experiences. Your computer, resolution, game settings and vorpx settings ALL play into this.

the games you have complained about i have made run very well and enjoyed even on an old card, im using a gtx 780.

I am not the creator of vorpx… but as a long time user, i can tell you that your complaints are 100% rectifieable, by you, if youre willing to put the time in and just fiddle with settings for a few minutes. Its literally impossible to make a perfect profile for every PC and headset – you need to use your game settings and the vorpx in game menu to get the games looking as theyre ‘supposed to’, unless theyre one of the directVR officially scanned games. Crysis not launching is 99% chance a driver issue or something and not vorpx’s fault. If you want to totally refresh your drivers and see if that rectifies your launching problems, there is a program called DDU, google it, itll basically reset all your drivers/directx info and set you up with a ‘fresh’ graphics card and that may fix your crysis problem… i really doubt its related to vorpx unless something else is fundamentally broken in your system

At some point you will get left behind if you want to continue to use a 10 years old OS that not even its manufacturer supports anymore. That’s just the nature of things, sorry.

From a VR developer’s perspective supporting Windows 7 doesn’t make too much sense anymore. The latest Oculus hardware survey shows only 0.4% of VR users are still on Windows 7, a number that doesn’t really justify the extra work for testing and potentially applying Windows 7 specific fixes. So if you want developers to provide you with the newest versions of their software, at some point you finally will have to say Goodbye to Windows 7.

Can’t say yet when exactly that will happen in case of vorpX, but it sure will.

Okay, this does work but its a bit more confusing than i had thought – i had already launched into vorpx in game and it was running but it seems like taking the “rights” permissions off this folder remove Vorpx’s ability to inject. We will have to be making config changes to the folder to launch the game in Vorpx – then remove right permissions after game is launched, this may be a confusing process for some so i do not recommend this fix unless youre comfortable with toying around with these files. This wont break your game permantely or anything, but you will be messing with folder permissions to get ‘into the game’ in Vorpx, then deleting the SGA files and then removing the “write” prviliges after the game has launched.

So far this has worked fine doing it before even entering the game world for me, but you have to give the permissions to the folder as it would usually have, launch the game in vorpx, switch out to the folder and delete the SGA files and then remove Write permissions again, that is working for me now.

good luck if you were having problems as well, sorry it was more confusing than i initially thought, but vorpx needs access to that folder at launch so we need to make sure it has that, then, you can remove SGA files and write permissions

    Hello,
I have a problem with Fallout 3 GOTY the GOG Version.
When I launch the game there is only a black screen on startup, sometimes there is a big flashing grey triangle. The sound is ok. I can’t even bring up the vorpx-menu in the game. I tried different resolutions and settings but it always looks like this.

When I pause the watcher the game starts normal and everything is fine.
When I first start the game and then select ‘resume watcher’ it tries to attach to fallout 3.exe but after some time I get an error message.

    My system:
    AMD Ryzen 7 2700
AMD Radeon R380 (drivers up to date)
    Windows 10 Pro 64bit
    16GB RAM
    Oculus Rift with touch controllers
    vorpx version 20.1.1

I hope someone can help me because Fallout 3 was one of the most important reasons for me to buy vorpx.

Idk if this is the proper place to start this thread but anyways. I downloaded and messed around with VorpX a couple months back and tried to get it to work with Metro 2033 Redux & Metro: Last Light Redux. Fast forward a couple months to now and I uninstalled Vorpx to move some stuff around. I went to replay 2033 and the FOV was locked like it was when I played it in VR easy fix right? I uninstalled 2033 and reinstalled but its still locked in the VR fov. And the same thing is happening with Last Light.

Currently it seems to be Epic only, not sure whether that’s just for a certain time or not. Definitely better than PlayStation only as before though. :)

Probably unwise to say that, but personally I don’t get the widespread notion of Epic as bad guys. The Epic store is just one more client in addition to the four (five including X-Box) one already needs for playing most major games these days anyway, even more if you take Blizzard, Bethesda etc. into account.

My settings were great before but a patch has broken them.

I am running normal Skyrim, not Skyrim – SE and it’s been working fine. I haven’t played in many months and last night, VorpX updated to 20.1.0. The profile was updated for Skyrim. The gamepad emulator mode has never worked for me and I’ve always set Override X-Box Gamepad to Off. This time, I do this and everything works fine except the Y-axis on the right thumbstick. I cannot look or move the camera up or down. If I move the right thumstick slightly to the right or left so that it’s mostly Y-axis but just a little bit of X-axis then Y-axis does respond but it responds only very slightly. It’s by no means a workaround but I shows that there is some input happening somewhere. The closer I get to true up/down Y-axis, the up/down motion stops entirely.

This is definitely a bug because if I exit VorpX, right thumbstick works fine.

Somewhere, the Y-axis is being overridden by VorpX even with Override X-Box Gamepad set to Off. Head tracking is disabled and all other settings are from the cloud Skyrim profile (default) for 20.1.0.

I’m not sure which new patch version broke my stuff since it’s been a few months.
