RalfKeymasterNot really except for a factory reset/full reinstall. Hooking issues are almost always related to something interfering. Please thoroughly go through the guide linked above, even if it worked before.
Note that some third party AV programs are difficult to disable fully. if you use anything else than Windows Defender, get rid of it. Windows Defender kicks in automatically when you remove third party AV programs.

D-Rey86ParticipantThanks! That is definietely the culprit. Since I have the Windows Store version I had to guess the Epic store .exe name, unfortunately I guessed slightly wrong (‘IndianaEpicStore’ instead of ‘IndianaEpicGameStore’). I’ll update the profile.
19.3.0 with the updated profile will be made available again once I figured out something in regard to RDR2 launcher problem.
Hey Ralf thanks for getting the new update out! Outer worlds looks great even tho I am having issues with directvr not scanning and working – it’s fine tho, I can configure those settings no problem
The issue I am running into is controller support – I have just spent like 45 minutes trying to make the Xbox one controller work with headtrscking, it will work for a few moments if you “move” in the game, but once I touch the right stick, it basically “turns off” headtracking no matter what settings I try.
I just wanted to know if you had an idea of what setting I should be looking at – but ya, I have tried everything I know in vorpx game menu to get the controller to just work with right stick for look + headtracking being on and the right stick just seems to override the headtracking once I touch it and then effectively turns headtracking “off” until I move, stand still and don’t touch it, then headtracking resumes. The two are not working in concert, the right stick movement basically “kills” the headtracking.
Thanks for you time and the profile! HUD adjustments seem great and it looks great!
Thank you for your time and work for us!
Did you end up getting the head tracking to work? That’s my exact problem with the controller

dborosevParticipantYeah I know its just a WMR issue. No other headset still kicking around unfortunately. Just have to put up with it for a while until things get ironed out more. I’m just happy I can play for now, even if it takes longer to get started.

dellrifter22ParticipantIt really is cool! Thanks again Ralf.
I’m at work now so can’t test this, but PCGamingWiki lists an fov mod tool that may help first person. (Can’t link on phone, sorry) Vanilla view is very limited, maybe this can help.
Please don’t try this until you have RDR2 already stable with vorpX. I just wanted to post in case Ralf or someone wants to give it a go.
Can’t wait to get off work. Have a good evening all.

dborosevParticipanthaluzzak: I did eventually get it to work once last night. Didn’t do anything special, just rebooted plus all the known stuff discussed in many threads here. (Check out the discussion in the General forum) I haven’t been able to test enough yet to determine what is causing it to not show in the HMD yet. But this weekend should yield some results hopefully. It definitely started happening each time I installed the game and its DirectX. (I uninstalled and re-installed once) Most of the time, none of my VorpX games worked, then it was just RDR2 that didn’t work. But I don’t have enough tests yet to draw any conclusions about anything.
apollon01: I’ll try that too. I have an Odyssey+, you? Maybe some HMDs have different sensors.

RalfKeymasterYou probably did that already, but if not, checking SteamVR settings might be worth a shot, especially supersampling settings. vorpX normally prevents unnecessarily large headset render targets automatically, but it can‘t hurt to make sure nothing unreasonable is set in SteamVR in the first place.

RalfKeymasterDesktop viewer: confirmed. Probably due to some last minute injector changes for the Rockstar launcher yesterday. I’ll look into it. Will get fixed ASAP. Thanks for the heads-up.
RDR2: I did another one hour or so test session yesterday after the final 19.3.0 release, incidentally even on a Rift (S). My only issue was that I managed to fail the ‘Polite Society, Valentine Style’ mission four times in a row in incredibly stupid ways. Either by getting stuck with the cart, getting shot by someone I didn’t even see or by riding the cart into a crossing train. Guess I’m not exactly a RDR pro… Plenty of switching between cutscenes and interactive sequences without problems.
I’ll do some more testing later and see how it goes. D3D12 support is so new that I’m not entirely confident yet about its long term stability myself, but so far I didn’t encounter any issues here in that regard. Maybe try switching vorpX to SteamVR mode if you have issues with native Oculus, that will also work with a Rift.
As usual also make sure that Windows, graphics drivers etc. are up to date should that happen to not be that case. If you have changed any graphics settings in the game, using the default preset might also be worth a shot, just in case the issues are related to some feature that isn’t enabled with the default medium settings.

LukeRossParticipantRalf, congrats on the DX12 support!! As steph12 said, a huge step forward for vorpX!
I have two issues to report: the vorpX desktop viewer doesn’t seem to work anymore (it doesn’t crash but it does nothing, the Oculus runtime doesn’t even register it as a VR app), and sadly RDR2 is unplayable for me with vorpX at the moment. If I just free-roam it appears to work fine, but during missions, when the game transitions from a cutscene to realtime action and viceversa, most of the times I get a black screen both on the monitor and in the Rift, and nothing more happens. Alt-Tab works but returning to the game doesn’t get rid of the black screen. Even the vorpX logo disappears from the bottom of the monitor screen.
I have no issues with RDR2 if I don’t use vorpX (I’m around 16% of the game and never had a single freeze or crash).

dborosevParticipantWow what an ordeal. I finally got into the game using VorpX, however the game crashes to desktop in the intro screen. So I never even get to see any 3D, just a Z3D outline. But it gives me hope that eventually it will work.
Yes I get the same crash. For anyone having similar issues, I’ll try to sum up things so far.
– Need to run both Rockstar launcher and RDR2.exe as admin. The latter in compat settings.
– Rebooting did seem to help once or twice.
– DirectX 12 is definitely a factor in all this. After reinstalling (and re-downloading) the whole game, VorpX stopped working immediately in the HDM. (still hooked though). The same thing happened the first time as well. So whatever the game is installing (directx i would guess) is messing with VorpX a bit. At least for a while, or sporadically.
– Rebooting seems to have fixed that (FOR NOW).
– All the usual things like drivers, win updates, etc are essential.
– I head bios updates are necessary for AMD machines.
– Dellrifter, I’m at .449 for windows version. A bit ahead of you.I’ll keep posting as I find out more.

dellrifter22ParticipantI still struggle with this, but so far a complete system reboot is solving this for me.
If my headset has gone to sleep or Mixed reality has shutdown I will get stuck in the “Next UP” loop. Sometimes it can occur after closing a successful gaming session. Basically this means I should expect to to a system reboot before each time I want to play. So far this is allowing me to run my HP reverb with steamVR and vorpX.
I always start steamVR manually by the way, before I use vorpX. If you let vorpX open it automatically, you may not even see the “Next Up” splash, but rather just a blank screen instead.
Hopefully it’s a steam issue that gets sorted soon. For now, keep a finger always over that reboot button.

RalfKeymastervorpX 19.3.0 is back. You should get it when you launch vorpX.
Note that the RDR2 profile defaults to immersive screen mode, which at this point I personally consider the better choice for various reasons.
If you want, you can try FullVR mode with the game’s first person FOV maxed out and a 16:9 resolution. Don’t expect FullVR perfection at this point though. Even maxed out the FOV is relatively low, so relatively huge top/bottom bars are required to account for that. The profile will be resvisited and if possible enhanced over the next weeks/months.
This is largely for those who want to try things as fast as possible.

RalfKeymasterNot so good news guys: while testing the final release build I encountered an issue with the Rockstar launcher exiting unxpectedly several times, which didn’t happen for me until a few hours ago. Seemingly randomly the game starts, and next time the launcher crashes while starting it.
These launcher crashes seem to be a relatively common issue and happen with or without vorpX, so they are almost certainly unrelated, but unfortunately they make testing the release build thoroughly quite difficult. So I decided to postpone the release until I can do my final tests in a proper way, it’s already evening over here. Better for everyone that way, just in case there is an issue that didn’t show in dev builds.
Hopefully Rockstar will get this sorted until tomorrow. Fingers crossed.
I’ll keep you posted.

dellrifter22ParticipantNice!!
Now if I can just get the game to launch without crashing Rockstar’s launcher right after I click play, I’ll be ready for tomorrow. Can’t even boot into game so far :/
Hope everyone else is enjoying it so far though.

forlaunchcastParticipantYeah, ditto on the virtual hug.
Anyway to actually play RDR 2 through VR headset, even with no 3d effect? I tried with the vorpx desktop viewer, and my beefy PC grinded to a halt! Tried to make a dummy profile, but it couldn’t inject. I guess it’s the whole DX12 thingy.
Regardless, thanks Ralf. Can’t wait until tomorrow! Hopefully, vorpx will get awesome publicity right off the bat on the biggest game release in years!
