hi thanks for reading.
i’m using the beta vorpx version from the forum.
i searched the forum for this problem and the only page in the first few pages of results that sounded helpful, when i clicked the link, the forum said the post was gone!
i have a good enough system for anything except new AAA DX12 games to run at 200-500 percent resolution scaling, this isn’t an fps problem.
i have a 90hz wmr hmd, a 75hz monitor, and geforce 2080ti.
i get no stutter/judder in native steamvr or openxr games (so long as i keep fps over 90) this has only happened in vorpx. i also dont get the stutterjudder if i use vorpx in pure 2d mode or even Z3D mode. i have motion reprojection turned off in my wmr settings and my openxr for wmr settings, and of course both are also set to 90hz.
here is when i get stutterjudder in vorpx and how bad:
worst: G3D, DirectVR, Head tracking prediction On (this setting also causes extreme ghosting of moving objects, i found i get less than half as much stutter and ghosting by turning head tracking prediction off)
very bad: G3D, DirectVR (ghosting and stuttering is still too bad to be playable)
bad: G3D, immersive/cinema (might not improve at all, might just look a little better from being less zoomed-in)
i have tried turning all headtracking options to the least judder modes, that doesn’t help. (judderfree, then safe/off) and also disabling headtracking totally, no difference.
some games i get just enough less stutter for them to be playable they just could look a little better in motion (official elder scrolls) other games way too much stutter to even enjoy (cloud profile homefront). official profiles run a little better most of the time, they are playable and enjoyable but the problem is still at least slightly there.
one official G3D profile i tried worked perfectly fine: warband.
all wmr and openxr drivers are newest, regularly updates. never used another hmd so no conflicting settings anywhere. vsync is turned off everywhere it could possibly be turned off.
please read this post before replying, i will ignore replies that dont take account of the info i posted. please also try not to just post one-line replies, explain and offer multiple stages of tweaking in case your first suggestion doesnt work. thank you.
I just redownloaded the app and burned a couple hours without being able to get a single game I want to play working. I have used Vorpx with success in the past but now it’s not working.
Here are the games I tried:
– Dear Ester: I load the profile and Vorpx tries to attach and fails after several minutes of waiting
– Gone Home: Same as Dear Ester
– Firewatch: The game loaded the first time, asked me to reboot the game, now when I start it, it tries to start, I get a black screen, then I am tossed back to Oculus Home
– Edith Finch is the only title I could get workingI loaded each profile before launching the game, tried rebooting multiple times, tried launching from desktop view, tried launching straight from the .exe.
I really just want to be able to hop in and play games. It seems like every time I redownload Vorpx I have to burn several hours before I get anything working, and even then I have to compromise on which games I play from the supported list. I have read the instructions, and followed YouTube guides to no avail. Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong here? Do the titles above work for anyone out there?
Running on an RTX 3080 desktop, with the newest drivers and the newest version of Vorpx.
A vorpx profile is available for this game.
Hi,
I had been annoyed with the YouTube videos claiming to show how to run the “F1 2019” game in VR using Vorpx and Opentrack, having tried to follow their instructions I realised where they had gone wrong.
Sorry if someone has already shown how to do this correctly but I couldn’t find instructions anywhere that actually worked correctly.
The following method works well for me (unlike the various click-bate YouTube videos) this results in a pretty good experience. The YouTuber versions end up with you looking either looking at a great big VR cinema type screen or where the head tracking either doesn’t work or is terrible.
This method works (its not perfect but it is comfortable and very playable):
VORPX:
From VorpX config go to the “Cloud Profile” tab, search for “F1 2019” and download the cloud file for the game, at the time of writing there is only one file available “F1 2019 BY DONPRIMILLO”- Many thanks to whomever created this file.
Next go to the vorpx config “General tab” and uncheck “Head tracking” and “head tracking roll”
Save and Close Vorpx config but leave the main vorpx program runningOPENTRACK
Download “OpenTrack” from Github – https://github.com/opentrack/opentrack/releases
Run the “opentrack” .exe program (please note that these instruction are for the Valve Index and steamVR but I expect they will work for anyone using SteamVR).
From the main screen choose the following settings:
Input – select “Valve SteamVR”
Output – select “Freetrack 2.0 Enhanced”
Filter – Delete the filter option (no selection needed)
Click on the options button:
“Shortcuts” tab – select “Bind recenter” and choose a shortcut key, I used “Z” but whatever works for you
“Output” tab – select “Pitch” and choose Pitch, Select “Yaw” and choose yaw, select “roll” and choose roll.
Click “OK”
Now close the Opentrack program
You have to close the opentrack software or (at least in my case) SteamVR will not launch if opentrack is running.Steam:
Launch Steam
Got to the “Library” tab and launch the “F1 2019” game, it is important to select the DirectX 11 version only (this should flash up in a windows), note I don’t think VorpX works with DX12.VorpX should flash up a dialogue window and also should launch SteamVR.
Once Vorpx, SteamVR and the “F1 2019” game have all launch correctly and you can see the “F1 2019” game running in the HMD (Valve Index in m case) you press the windows key on your keyboard and then navigate to and launch the “Opentrack” software.Opentrack
Click on the the “Start” button and return to the “F1 2019” Game by click on the icon in the bottom of the screen to make the game the focus.F1 2019 game:
You now need to change the game settings – Within the setting section you need to set the following:
Game options
Setting
Camera options:
Camera select – Cockpit
Field of view – 1.0 (maximum available)
Camera shake – 0
Camera movement – 0
Look to apex – 0
Head tracking with TrackIR – “On” (this is the most important part as this allows the game to see the opentrack output – all of the YouTube videos go wrong with this step)
Save these settingPut on your HMD
Press the “Delete” key on the keyboard which should launch the VorpX menu within the HMD screen and choose the following settings:
Got to “Main Setting” tab
Play style – “Full VR mode”
3D Reconstruction – “Z-adaptive”
Head tracking sensativity – 1.50
Save and exit the Vorpx VR menuYou are you finished, start a race and hopefully this method will work as well for you as it does for me.
I have noticed that playing around with the resolution can make a big difference so you might want to find what works best for you.
Lots of steps but I hope this is helpful to someone…..
I had a play around with this game last night and to my surprise managed to get Vorpx to hook with perfect G3d using the Gone Home profile.
The 3d is perfect if you use Immersive screen mode and you can even lean in to the world like a native VR game.
Just though I would give a heads up for anyone who has or is interested in playing the game.
