There is no general Unity profile, you may have to try several ones and there is no guarantee that one will work for your game, but you could try these profiles:

Off the top of my head, there probably are a few more.

    Unity 4 (DX9):

    Slender: The Arrival
    Gone Home

    Unity 5 (DX11):

    Fe
    Firewatch
    Inside
    Ori and the Blind Forest
Life is Strange: Before the Storm
    The Long Dark

Gone Home: fixed, + new auto FOV via ini change.

Fear: no auto FOV of any kind currently (never has been), apparently there is way via an ini edit, I’ll check whether that can be automated.

Skyrim SE: IIRC there was some glitch that could make the scan fail while a gamepad is connected, which is fixed.

Dear Esther: always had full Direct VR (Source engine version).

RtcW: made some changes (again). Should work with current Steam/GOG, probably not with old CD versions.

GTA V: has DirectVR FOV, which is perfectly correct. Too strong vehicle 3D is fixed, in case that is what you meant, also the infamous semi random no-G3D issue is finally fixed, which only took 30 hours or so…

Stanley Parable: works fine here. I’m aware of your report re this, but unable to reproduce.

A list of games I’ve tried that no longer work well enough to play. I’m hoping Ralf will include fixes for these in the next update…

    Gone Home: perspective is off

    Fear: perspective is off

Skyrim special edition: DirectVR rotation fails

    Dear Ester: headtracking?

Return to castle Wolfenstein: DirectVR fails and perspective is off

GTA V: I haven’t been able to get the correct perspective in months. Especially with the GTAVR mod.

The Stanley Parable: word is it stopped working in VR all together.

Gone Home has an import profile, but nothing under optimize settings. Is there a specific resolution I should be playing it in?

I’ve gone through the pinned trouble shooting thread and done all of the steps in the FAQ. It hooked once for GTAV the first attempt I made, but was unplayable as it had the IPD waaay to far apart to even read the the VorpX orverlay menu to adjust it, so I exited. Since then I haven’t been able to get anything I’ve tried to hook. Settings are applied on the monitor normally and seem to work, but the game never displays on the HMD. SteamVR stays in the Steam VR home environment and never starts loading. I’m at a loss as to why it worked once and then never again, even after following all the troubleshooting. Any ideas? If a specific game to target the troubleshooting would help, I’d love to get ARMA III working first, or GTAV. Thanks.

Hi all, Is anyone manage to hook Through The Woods game into vorpx with 3d Geometry enabled ? since this game is using unity, I tried the renaming vorpx hack using GoneHome profile, but to no avail, doesnt work, the game would not want to hook with vorpx if I using this rename trick even after I use vorpx desktop shortcut refer to the renamed EXE, still doesnt want to hook, thus I’m kind of wondering.

here is the video of through the wood, i thought this game will look amazing in cinema mode with 3d geometry depth.

    any suggestion ?

WOW! This update was the magic bullet!
Tried the direct head tracking in Skyrim and it is amazing!
All the stutter and jitter of head movement is GONE! Head movement is smooth and natural!!!
I would go as far to say that it fells the same as native Occulus Rift content now.

Very well done! I think VorpX should be sold on the Occulus home store and I would definitely recommend it to anyone and everyone now (even those who are not prepared to spend hours tweaking and configuring). It just works magic out of the box!

    Hello.
I have CV1, Windows 10 Home fresh install, newest oculus updates. Already disabled Windows Defender, Kaspersky, and tried to run vorpx in compatibility with older versions. When I start vorpx, the tray icon appears for a second, than it’s gone.
    Please help!

I just tried things with the new updates (both oculus and vorpx)

Initially I was receiving error messages from vorpx about not being able to find the DK2, which was followed by a message saying that files or folders were missing & I should re-install vorpx.

For this go around I tried uninstalling my antivirus (avast) & then re-installing vorpx.

the dk2 is now detected & I am able to start the desktop viewer!

I haven’t tried a game yet, I wanted to document my process/ steps before going forward. I also want to install another antivirus (avira) as I don’t feel real comfortable without one.

I’ll write more as things continue.

Edit: on install of antivirus (Avria) vorpconfig.exe was flagged as a Trojan. (I then set the warning to “ignore”)

Overall my issue seems resolved! I’ve been able to launch the desktop viewer & a game (gone home) with no issues.

    thanks for all the support

Yep getting the same thing here. I literally purchased VorpX today and was really looking forward to checking Eldar Scrolls Online out in VR at last. Not a great start. I’ve got a DK2 and the newly updated Oculus Home. When I switch on VorpX Control the screen in Oculus Home resets, then displays the message “Sorry we’re having trouble loading VorpXcontrol.exe. Please take off your headset and check your computer for error messages. You may need to close vorpxControl.exe or address windows associated with it in order to get back to VR.”

I’m guessing the new version of the runtime has gone and stopped it working, and we need to wait for a VorpX update?

I tried running Life Is Strange and it hooks properly without issue (looks fine in VR Cinema mode). All of my games are purchased and installed through Steam. This is a fresh install of Windows 10 64-bit with all the latest updates including NVidia drivers. I have disabled my antivirus software as well. I tried creating manual shortcuts for them like Gone Home but still my Rift does not come on. I read through the whole troubleshooter and nothing there resolved the issue. Hmm.

Gone Home: hooks correctly here (Win 10, Steam version), but then freezes when going into the actual game from the main menu. Might be related to Win 10, which seems to require to run the game windowed to work at all here with or without vorpX. Will be looked into.

Metro 2033 Redux: works fine here (also Steam version). May have to be run in safe mode on some machines if I remember earlier reports correctly. If you also have the Non-Redux version of the game, using that is generally perferable BTW as it offers Geometry 3D when run in DX9 mode.

HL2: When support for HL2 was done, there was no VR mode. Besides that it still makes a lot of sense for stand alone mods like Black Mesa. Personally I like the way vorpX does it better BTW, but that’s almost certainly a minority vote.

In general: if you have problems with multiple games not hooking at all, please check the trouble shooting guide in the help. The most likely cause of this is some other program on your machine that creates a conflict with vorpX.

You can also try to create a special vorpX desktop shortcut to a game’s main .exe (right click the tray icon, choose “Create Destop Shortcut”), which sometimes works more reliable than the normal hooking. Doesn’t help with most Steam games unfortunately, but would be an option for the Metro 2033 GOG version for example.

I finally built a powerful computer and am getting back into Rift experimentation. I installed VorpX 0.9.1 in conjunction with Rift SDK 0.8.0.

I then reviewed the official VorpX ‘supported games’ list and tried the first three games in my Steam library that are listed on the VorpX site. The results were disappointing.

    – Gone Home: Rift will not come on at all.
    – Metro 2033 Redux: Rift will not come on at all.
    – HL2: Rift comes on and VorpX is enabled (but presumably worse experience than the native VR now included).

My question is, do the first two games listed above simply not work with VorpX? If not, why are they featured on the Supported Games list?

If 2/3 of the listed games I tried do not work on VorpX, how many others on that list should I avoid?

Otherwise, any suggestions on how to get the first two listed to work with VorpX?

    Specs: Windows 10 64-bit, GTX 980 TI, 32GB RAM, Intel 4970k, SSD.

You were right, resolution was wrong with both Stanley Parable and Dear Esther, once changed they looked fine on the DK2. Haven’t tried SP ingame, but Dear Esther looks amazing, great job.

Gone Home looked really bad imho, maybe inside the house it looks better i don’t know, I couldn’t open the door on the first few minutes and left it there.

I will try zbuffer on Aliens during the day, though geometry looks fantastic and check it out, thanks for the suggestion.

Portal 1 makes problems for ~10% of users. Unfortunately the issue is impossible to replicate here.

Dear Esther is very well tested. Shouldn’t cause issues normally. You should check things like resolution, 3D Strength, IPD in case of convergence issues.

Gone home has a *few* broken shadows that aren’t fixable without breaking most of the lighting.

You could switch to Z-Buffer 3D, which does not have any shader glitches by design. Aliens Colonial Marines for example is a game with excellent Z-Buffer 3D.
