    I notice this on all Source engine games still. Left 4 Dead 2 – for example – in DirectVR works great, but I’m still getting the annoying flicker. It looks like one odd frame here and there of the weapon / hands view shifts, then repositions itself. Every few seconds. I’m going to experiment with some settings now and see what I can find.

    It occurs to me that I should mention that my computer’s monitor is 120hz. Might that be part of the issue with Black Ops 3?

    Also, add Left 4 Dead 2 to the list of non-working (at least for me) games. VorpX causes it to crash and then displays an error of not being able to hook left4dead2.exe.

    It’s possible to ‘walk’ one or two steps in many games with Geometry 3D support. Not really roomscale, but there is positional tracking in many G3D games that allows for a little bit of movement.

    Some games with positional Direct VR support (direct manipulation of a game’s camera, e.g. Bioshock series, Half-Life 2, Left for Dead 2, Portal 1+2, Fallout 4) also allow a bit more than that, which could be called ‘basic roomscale’.

    Thank you Ralf! The problem with portal 2 about the dead pixels was because I was using Z-Adaptive. I realized I had to set it to Off or Geometry. Concerning Left 4 Dead 2, I realized that what was making the game crash was a Windows’ User setting. When playing left 4 dead 2, my computer requested my permission. For some reason, I was not able to see this sign until I closed the game. Not even my task manager was able to take me to my window’s main screen. So the solution was to turn off the setting that makes windows ask for my permission when running an application. After I did that, Left 4 Dead 2 didn’t crash and it ran perfectly.

    Again, thank you so much for your help! The only games I am not able to run now are Slender: The Arrival and GTA V. I read that you said that Slender should have a VR option, but I’m not able to find it. When I try to run it with vorpX my computer crashes. Finally, I realized that my computer not wanting to run any games after I played the first one was just a temporal thing. Today I was able to play many games and all of them worked just fine.

    VorpX basically gives you around 8-10 times less FPS than you will get on your regular monitor. Even games that I am running at around 200-300 FPS still slog along at around 30-40 FPS in the headset. Left For Dead 2 (source engine 2)which runs at 400+ FPS on my monitor is the only game so far that I have seen using vorpX that gives me the 60-90 FPS silky smooth that you want for VR. 45 FPS is sleep inducing. And all of this is on a brand new $700 1080GTX.

    Did you run the Direct VR scanner after entering the actual gameworld to adjust field of view and head tracking?

    Direct VR games (incl. Skyrim) are the ones that work best. Current games with Direct VR support are: Fallout 4, Skyrim, Skyrim Special Edition, Half-Life 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Portal 2, Borderlands 2, Bishock (original), Bioshock 2 (original), Bioshock Infinite, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, Black Mesa Source.     First you should always be aware that vorpX applies VR functionality to games that were never meant to be played in VR. So depending on how you define 100%, either only a few may work without issues or most.

    If you are searching for the games that work best, the ones with the new Direct VR feature, which provides automatic 1:1 head tracking and FOV adjustment, are clearly closest to a native experience. Others will require more tweaking. Currently this includes (more to come shortly):

    Fallout 4, Skyrim, Skyrim Special Edition, Half-Life 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Portal 2, Borderlands 2, Bishock (original), Bioshock 2 (original), Bioshock Infinite, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, Black Mesa Source.

    Hi,

    I recently bought oculus rift and I am very happy with immersion it provides.
    Unfortunatley you can not play many real games with it and I thought that it is time to check some old must play games. Then I heard about this program. After reading many posts I have just one question because there are many opinions for and against (and its look like those against are from people that can not set up games properly, correct me if I am wrong). Does direct vr games stated in last patch,, Fallout 4, Skyrim, Half-Life 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Portal 2, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, Black Mesa Source” looks like a native vr games like for example assetto corsa or Elite? Or the view is closer to zbuffer method which someone said is similar to 3d tv view?
    I don’t mind spending some time on configurations and things like changing to 2d view to check map etc.

    Hi Guys, Alien Isolation I can see is awesome, took some tweaking with the settings but I now have it running on 3 monitors 5860×1080.
    Here is what I did;
    Downloaded the following files,

    from the above steam link, make a copy of the original file.

    In the local files in Vorpx (v17.1.2) configuration choose AI from the local files and apply it.
    Start AI via desktop or steam, it may crash first time but run it again.
    In the game settings I have FOV=90.
    Then in the game press del (Vorpx menu) and set the following;

    Main Settings

    Seperation (3D strength) = 5.00 (set yours accordingly)
    3D FOV enhancement = 1.50

    Head Tracking Settings

    All settings on ultra.

    Don’t forget that you may have to tweak them depending on your machine.

    With regards to the scanner being off the screen that boils down to the written software, so you need to use edge peek.

    The 3D effect in Witcher 3 isn’t as pronounced as in native since it is applied after rendering the game. In contrast to that Life is Strange has full Geometry 3D, which works like native apps by rendering the scene twice.

    You can play both games with the default settings, but if you want to make them more immersive, you will need to adjust settings.
