In reply to: Unreal Engine and Vorpx?
vorpexParticipantobserver that was initially released had a hidden vr mode enabled via console, as for redux you can never know if it was because its impossible or no one had patience enough to try every profile possible. Finally it can be running dx12, in which case only cyberpunk profile might work if you are very lucky.
Yes, VR via a launch argument, I have the original with the VR-supported first patch but I still get major artifacts in the right eye. For others, it seems that the issue goes away after the intro, but even after altering graphical settings it persists for me. Other than that, it works pretty well, so truly a missed opportunity on the devs. A few bug fixes and it would’ve been one of the most immersive VR experiences. I’ll have to check out the VorpX profile for it sometime.
System Redux does support DX11, so I’m hopeful some kind of VorpX support could be implemented as it was for the original.

vorpexParticipantUsually if game/demo is made in UE4 its easy to make your own profile in vorpx – just copy a profile of another game that is already working in vorpx and is running UE4, you might have to try several games, but eventually you will find one that works and doesnt have unplayable artifacts in g3d.
Observer System Redux is made in UE4 and I don’t believe anyone has gotten any profile working.

BurniParticipantAh, it´s not the same.
The lighting etc. is not like the original.Yes I agree, the atmosphere of the original is much better, but the remastered version should be supported in my opinion for its modernity/compatibility’s sake, the old one isn’t even available anymore. I’d been playing the original in VR using the last version that supported the native VR launch parameter trick – 20170929 (15301), but there are quite a few graphical glitches.
It’s no doubt that System Redux’s graphical textures are better, but yes the lighting is not as good. I believe Ralf had already tried to support the original Observer fully but to no avail. Perhaps something may be possible in the future for System Redux.
Sorry for the misunderstanding. I should have quoted the post.
My reply was for this post:Doom64 is actually playable in VR through a modified GZDoom with special .WAD files
The Doom64 mod running in GZDoom is not the same as the original steam version in terms of lightning, textures and a few other things.
I would like to play the steam remaster instead the mod.

luka2099ParticipantFossilfuel is unreal engine 4. Try use Observer profile

haintsParticipantHaving tried both versions, I actually prefer the original Observer to Observer “Redux.” The Vorpx profile for the original has an excellent sense of depth and I would recommend just sticking with that.
I also played the original in its VR mode without Vorpx and the HUD/UI is invisible, making the game rather difficult to play. The first Vorpx implementation is the best way to play this game in our headsets, IMO.

luka2099Participantsorry for my mistake, I remembered it was developed with unity, instead it uses unreal engine 4. on the cloud I uploaded the profile, starting from a copy of Observer.

jjenssonParticipantI second the hope for an official profile for Observer: System Redux. Never got to play the original but, as soon as the remaster released i got it at intro price.

yaglourtParticipantInstead of tinkering with vorpx and Z3D… just get an older version of the game, it had “unofficial” native VR with great G3D (only the menus ingame are not properly displayed but you don’t really need them).

Michelangel0ParticipantThanks, The Observer profile is just the same result as in later levels there is a fog that affects how the game is being seen too much and is annoying to play.
I’m starting to think that this could only be fixed with the G3D authoring edit…but I do not have any idea how to use it propely.
If there is any other UE4 profile to recommend to check I will try it anyway.

Michelangel0ParticipantI’m trying to fix an issue with D&D: Dark Alliance, no matter which UE4 profile I tried (Abzy, Get Even, Observer, etc) I’m always getting a fog that is only displayed on one eye and makes very annoying to play on later levels, because initial levels apparently do not show that fog in the game.
The thing is that I do not understand what I’m exactly doing but I found that if I have selected VERTEX and later go scrolling through all the numbers one by one from -1 to 35 on 35 I hit the spot because if I hide it the problem is fixed. But how do I apply this??
Therefore I really want to understand in general steps how to use this tool for this and any other game.
Help?
any good tutorial?Jul 1, 2021 at 11:49pm #204986In reply to: Help with D&D:Dark Alliance G3D (UE4)
Michelangel0Participantok thanks! I used the translate hehe… will check then with The observer.
I was trying yesterday to edit further the profiles but it is getting difficult without a proper guide of how to use the profile authoring.
