    vorpX emulates mouse movement, it does not intercept mouse clicks. You should be able to use the mouse just normal.

    Skyrim disables the mouse when gamepad input is enabled. Maybe that is the problem.

    Try the camera mod out with vorpX? It should technically “work” but might need adjusting. There is a cool Skyrim mod that lets you change all the HUD around in a lot of ways. Less intrusive HUD 2 I think, something like that.

    I also tried a bit more permanent solution: Darnified UI allows to setup all HUD elements manually,

    I set up most of my HUD with a few mods and It’s now a lot better. The only thing is there are still some HUD elements that you can’t move. Have you found a mod that lets you adjust where the activate(talk/pickup) text appears and things like that? Also being able to adjust the size of the HUD element would be great. Found any that do that? There is a great mod for Skyrim that lets you adjust basically everything(size, location, angle) its crazy. Would be great to have one that does all that for Fallout.

    So a guide I saw for using Virieo Perception (SP?) to get Skyrim working on the Rift used a 3rd party mod called Enhanced Camera to enable true headlooking without aiming. The rest of the tutorial was mostly garbage and produced an unplayable game, while I was impressed with VorpX’s instant gratification. Is there anyway to accomplish something similar with this, where turning my head doesn’t turn my body? It would also be nice to incorporate the floating HUD so you can turn your head to see conversation options that are otherwise blocked. Any ideas?

    Not working that well for me so far. VorpX config util allways crashes when I try to open it. Virtual Cinema mode worked when trying diablo but other games like Skyrim won’t even hook up, well its a mess with the new 0.5 oculus drivers, had to play around that for a while to properly get hmd detected. Anyway nice feature list on this upgrade, lots of stuff to try out when I get this working.

    Got it working again, uninstalled (no need to delete registry) then installed again and made sure the vorpx stuff launches with administrator rights. Everything seems to be working again and new features are very nice!

    I had set the fov to 120 (applied profile, pressed f11 in-game and the fov got bigger).
    The scene in the video is the one where I noticed it the most, it became much less obvious in the following areas.
    I have this ,,distortion” in Bioshock, Borderlands 2 and some source games, but not in Skyrim or Mass Effect.
    I´ll mock a bit with the fov again and try the 2D fov enhancement and if this doesn´t help I´ll just ignore it.

    Is there any way you could make scaling an option? If toggling the scaling will make it function more like this pip-boy:

    Then I would be all about that. Its an old video of some guy messing around in Fallout VR and the Pip-Boy screen “stays” with the in game pip-boy. Might be easier to navigate at least for this game. The adjustment of the UI is great for games that don’t have a modding community dont get me wrong, I love the feature. Fallout/Skyrim have a bunch of crazies modding them all the time and UI/HUD mods aplenty, so in this instance maybe the scaling isn’t as critical? The pip boy thing is about the last thing for Fallout then Id say it’s perfect for a VR experience.

    Do the games you mention work in the other driver at all? Maybe you want to try Mass Effect 2 and 3 or The Witcher 2 in regard to HUD scaling or one of the many other games that have this feature.

    I grant you the benefit of the doubt one last time before I finally will assume that you are simply trolling here for whatever reason.

    Since we accidentally compared programs so much here, which I normally do not do, please allow me to repeat a few “little” things vorpX does more than others, in case someone stumbles upon this and takes what you say for granted.

    – Two 3D modes in many games to either prefer speed or 3D quality
    – Four or five times as many games supported
    – DX9, DX10, DX11 instead of just DX9
    – The new Virtual Cinema Mode for all three APIs, allowing you to play almost any DX9-DX11 game in your Rift
    – Quite a bit better performance in important tiles like Skyrim

    The problem with Vorpx is that it requires some tweaking to get it to work. Most people were hoping the be playing Skyrim in perfect vr from the get go, and it doesn’t work like that, you can actually get Skyrim to play I near perfect vr, but you will have to tweak fov, 3d depth, mouse sensitivity and so on. Right now there are a lot of profiles in the vorpx options to optimize settings that help a lot setting it up, but it wasn’t like this at the beginning.

    So when someone bought it and had the image completely zoomed, with bad headtracking and awful 3d effect at the wrong resolution, they thought the software was awful, and the fact was that it wasn’t set up correctly.

    At this point Vorpx is really good for beta software, and the best game injector for VR, but it will take some time to learn all the options and how to set them up correctly. I think it will always be the nature of the beast, since we are trying to play games in VR that were never designed for that, however the profiles help immensely with that, and it can only get better.

    I’m really grateful for the software since I think many current games fit perfectly to play in VR, and they are pushing a lot of updates with lots of new games and changes, so I think my money is well invested. It will take years for a solid library of VR games to arrive, so it fills a need for VR software pretty well until then.

    @Nip0c There are options in the in game vorpx menu to fine tune headtracking sensitivity if mouse sensitivity tweaking isn’t enough (HT something, I don’t remember right now) . There’s also a 3d depth option apart from 3d fov adjustment that works well for me. Using too much 3d fov breaks 3d geometry frequently, so you always have to find a balance between tweaking the native game fov from options or ini, 3d fov and the image ratio option. There’re also hud options to minimize the need to use edge peek, it depends on each game though.

    I’ve owned an Oculus Rift DK2 since Christmas of 2014. I’ve enjoyed many of the experiences from small projects like Proton Pulse, Affected, and Dolphin VR to AAA titles like Elite: Dangerous and Alien Isolation. I’m not a developer. I’m just a huge VR fan with enough software/hardware knowledge and patience to get stuff working most of the time and so far I’ve been delighted and I’m very excited about the future of VR. I’m always looking for more opportunities to try new VR experiences and idea of an applications that would allow me to play many of my favorite PC games in VR was promising, but there was a lot of apprehension.

    Like many, I lurked on the VorpX forums, watched many Youtube videos, and read as many reviews as I could about the program and hesitated due to so many complaints and mixed reviews. Finally, last week, I mustered the courage to give it a shot. After all, I’ve blown more than $30 on worse things before and if it worked even for a game or two it might be worth it. Long story short: I am very pleased with my purchase. But before you go clicking the “buy now” button, please read on.

    First, it is important to understand that the most vocal are generally those who are unhappy. This is clearly the reason why there are so many negative reviews and complaints out there compared to positive reviews. We don’t have a plethora of review sites yet for VR where we can go for honest, unbiased reviews of everything VR (though the Rift Arcade and Road to VR do a great job and both have made my daily RSS feed). The Oculus Rift community is still very small compared to the rest of the gaming community so when you have a vocal minority they are going to make a big impact. Unfortunately, happy people are just less likely to go posting about how satisfied they are. Those who are enjoying the product are busy enjoying the product. Those who aren’t happy are posting on forums everywhere with sometimes constructive criticism but far more often emotional ranting. Don’t let this completely deter you.

    Is VorpX a consumer-ready product? No. Absolutely not. Why not? Because it’s exclusively designed for the Oculus Rift and the Oculus Rift is NOT a consumer-ready product. It is that simple. It’s software in beta designed for hardware in beta. We are all still in the testing phase. Even most experiences designed from the ground up for the Oculus take some tinkering around to get working. I’ve encountered very few applications that utilize the direct-to-rift function properly. The vast majority of the time I must extend my monitor to the Rift, set the Rift as the primary display, close one eye with the Rift on, and execute applications or move them over to my main screen for easier execution. This is not a consumer-ready experience and that is okay because this product is still in development.

    Does VorpX work? Short answer: yes. It’s an experimental application designed for experimental hardware for software that was not designed for said hardware. That is a nightmare from a developmental perspective and the fact that I’ve gotten it working with 9 out of the 10 games I’ve tried it with is pretty impressive. Some of the games that I play regularly do not currently have stereoscopic/geometric 3D support but the cinema option is very cool and even emulated 3D is fun to play around with. For those games, VorpX is still not my preferred way to play but it has nonetheless been an enjoyable experience.

    For the games with full 3D support, it has been absolutely awesome. Portal 2 looks great in VR and becomes almost a completely new game and Skyrim has so far been nothing short of incredible. Over the past few days, experiencing Skyrim in full 3D has made it my favorite VR experience thus far. The VorpX interface makes it easy to zoom out to letterbox view when I need to access the UI and zoom back in when interacting with the environment. I plan to play the entire game through exclusively in VR using VorpX and I’m looking forward to every moment.

    It is important to note that, just like most other VR experiences, you’re going to need to tinker around with VorpX in most cases to get the best experience and sometimes even then things may not work out. This is the nature of the beta experience. I can’t stress how important options like interpupillary distance are. You can use the built-in IPD calibrator or google ways to measure your IPD manually but these options are IMPERATIVE in order to optimize your experience.

    If you’re patient and knowledgeable enough, VorpX should be well worth the $30 price tag. In many cases it will allow you to experience some of your favorite games all over again in a brand new light. For the experiences that don’t work for you, search the forums and if you find nothing post about it but try to post as productively as possible. Keep in mind, there are updates regularly and the most recent patch has expanded compatibility and implemented some great options. VorpX is a great step in the VR process and, for this humble VR fan, makes the bright future of VR even brighter and definitely has made the wait for the official release of the Oculus Rift much easier.

    Hey everyone!

    Been using VorpX since I got my DK2 and haven’t had any problems until today. I was playing Skyrim lastnight without any problems what so ever! Today, I start up my computer and VorpX updates. My problem is VorpX will crash once it starts. I can not use it anymore! Any ideas?

    I have updated my video drivers and rift SDK/runtime and everything is current and up to date. I sent an email in so I can re-download and do a fresh install of VorpX as well; just waiting on a reply from them.

    Running Windows 8.1
    2x AMD Radeon HD 6900 (not running in crossfire)

    Like I said, it was working perfectly fine lastnight. And now it isn’t even able to run.

    So it basically only renders the view it thinks your facing so decoupling would in a way “confuse” it and sometimes not work?

    What about highly modifiable games like Fallout or Skyrim? Would that be more of a user made type mod?

    On games it works with it would be cool to have the option even if isn’t that many. Is it a fairly varied process that depends on how each game works, thus requiring a lot of effort to even test to see if it works? Anyway good to know, thanks.

    Hmm, not sure if we are thinking about the same problem.
    My issue is with the movement happening within the game itself while I am in the VorpX menu. Like in Skyrim for example, while I am trying to use the mouse to make VorpX adjustments, the mouse is still controlling the camera in game, and causing me to feel dizzy or sick.
    If we are indeed on the same page, would you mind explaining a little more on how this 3d edgepeek will help with the issue? I’m not sure I understand….

    …I just received my DK2 a couple of days ago. I purchased it primarily for Doom 2 and Skyrim. I learned after my package arrived that Doom 2 (specifially GZ3Doom port) only works on DK1…

    The latest release of GZ3Doom works with the DK2 (GZ3Doom1.8.6_i http://rotatingpenguin.com/gz3doom), and I understand that Doomsday also works with the DK2.
