@ goshops : Just a guess: did you by any chance recently enable the gamepad in the Skyrim options? In Skyrim and a few other games enabling the gamepad disables mouse input, which also disables the vorpX head tracking. Disabling the gamepad in the Skyrim options menu will bring back head tracking if that is the case.

The gamepad will still be usable through vorpX’s built in gamepad handling.

What are the specs on your system? I haven’t had the same issues you’ve had, though I’ve only played FarCry 4 on the rift and it feels great. I did have to tweak vorpx to find my tastes through the settings menu, and the menu disappearing sounds like a conflict on your machine some where. The vorpx menu opens up every time I press delete.

although recently my issue is that I’ve lost head tracking in Skyrim. It was running just fine and then suddenly stopped mid game and nothing I’ve tried since has worked.

After downloading the update, VorpX no longer recognizes my DK2. I get the standard “The configured device was not found. Vorpx will exit now.” message. Earlier today, before I connected to the internet and installed the update, VorpX was running Skyrim like a champ.

I was thinking about this and how it might be set up so it could be easily used and customized for each game without it being to over the top. I’m not a programmer but I was thinking on it anyway.

I’m thinking you could divide the screen into a grid as illustrated on the smash hit RAMBO The Video Game:

That way you could take the grid overlays coordinates for the areas of the HUD layer you want to move, and reassign them to a new coordinate on the same HUD layer. Sort of like a version of battleship if you will, swapping a blocks location to a new blocks location essentially. It might be easier to handle something like this then on like a per pixel base. Just an idea I had and thought it might help make this doable.

There is a mod for Skyrim:
    http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/35154/?tab=1&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fskyrim%2Fajax%2Fmoddescription%2F%3Fid%3D35154%26preview%3D&pUp=1

It allows you to move around and resize the HUD elements. Its pretty awesome. I’m not sure how the guy who made it actually does all of it but might be worth checking into.

Almost certainly the cause of your issue is a glitch in your vorpX or Skyrim config. This message indicates that the game tries to switch to a resolution that is not supported by the display device. Usually this means that either the Rifts display orientation is not set correctly or that the game is not set to the desired display resoution.

Please double check whether you followed all steps in the DK2 Setup Guide and set the resolution of the game to 1920×1080 fullscreen.

You have two options to use vorpX:

    A. The convenient one (works with most games)

    1. Set the Rift DK2 to “Extend Desktop to HMD”
    2. Use the Rift DK2 as SECONDARY monitor in Windows
    3. Set the Rift DK2 to “Portrait” mode in Windows
(might be “Landscape flipped” in Windows 8)
    4. Set vorpX to “Show on DK2″ display wise in the vorpX config app.

    B. The compatible one

    1. Set the Rift DK2 to “Extend Desktop to HMD”
    2. Use the Rift DK2 as PRIMARY monitor in Windows
    3. Set the Rift DK2 to “Portrait” mode in Windows
(might be “Landscape flipped” in Windows 8)
    4. Set vorpX to “Use system settings” display wise in the vorpX config app.

It is important to choose the right setting in the vorpX config app according to your display settings in Windows. It is important to choose the right setting in the vorpX config app according to your display settings in Windows.

    Hi.

The first time I tried to run Skyrim (clean install), it worked. However I had not yet flipped the display, so I saw a split screen. So I exited, changed settings in my control panel.

Now upon launching the game, the screen flickers several times and then an error message pops up:

    “Failed to initialize renderer.
    Unknown error creating the renderer.”

In the oculus config, i have Rift Display Mode set to “Extend desktop to HME”.

    In VorpX I have:
Device Settings – Oculus Rift Devkit 2
Do not use an oculus profile.
    Show rift on DK2

(and yes I have tried flipping the screen back via control panel)

Any help would be appreciated. I just received my DK2 a couple of days ago. I purchased it primarily for Doom 2 and Skyrim. I learned after my package arrived that Doom 2 (specifially GZ3Doom port) only works on DK1, so if I can get Skyrim to work, I won’t be totally bummed lol

I have gotten Portal 2 and FarCry 4 (sort of) but I cannot get skyrim, bioshock, or fallout nv working. I know that its not hooked in because I cannot get the in game menu to show up. it looks like the desktop does thru the rift. (zoomed in and offset to the sides a little) and head tracking wont work either.

Apparently there is some way to disable optimus with fn+f5 on Alienwares but that combination is muted and it is brightness control instead on my laptop >__< I don’t know how to disable optimus any other way either

    Alienware m14x R2
    Geforce 650m
    Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3610QM CPU @ 2.30GHz
    8.00 gb RAM
    Windows 7

I don’t know what the red glow is, maybe you have an ENB running that uses a red filter or some other graphic mod. There are lots of posts related to Skyrim settings. If you read them all that will give you a good starting point to start your own tweaks.

One last problem, There is still a red haze over my screen slightly. Like a red glow comes off everything. Any ideas on colour correction fixes? And how can I make skyrim look the best> It looks kinda weird/blurry/red glow

This program doesn’t work. It has leaked into many of my apps and now they are unplayable. I have deleted the app. the effect remains the same. The screen is fucked up blue and red. Have tried making my skyrim a program thats excluded, but the effect of red and lue is still there, making it so my game cant be played. my rift is off. I tried uninstalling the program to no avail. This program has rruined my gaming LIFE. HOW THE FUCK DO I GET RID OF IT SO I CAN PLAY MY GAMES

Why do people blame vorpX when they can’t get something to work? do exactly what any body else would do, change settings until it feels right. vorpx is a one size fits all pants, it won’t fit everybody and for it to work good you have to adjust it to fit you. yeah its not plug and play easy peasy but its VR virtual reality, its NEVER going to be perfect out of the box. learn to adjust your settings like a big boy and stop blaming vorpx.

As the title says. I’m using Windows 8 everything works except the eyes are swapped. Looks great if I go cross eyed. I have searched and I cannot find a swap eyes function. This is on a fresh install of Skyrim, ie. no mods. I have looked and the only advice I can find is to follow the guide, which I did, the eyes are still of course swapped.

I am very disappointed. Every few months I come back to VorpX and think “it didn’t work for me last time, but he’s probably fixed it by now. There’s no way he took my money and hasn’t made the software work within the last few months. It’ll be great to start up VorpX, follow all included instructions, on a fresh install of Skyrim and have it work.” Clearly, that was too much to hope for.

I would appreciate it if someone can tell me a way to swap the eyes. If, of course, such a way exists.

Can it be that you have the extended desktop for the Oculus Rift DK 2 set as ‘Landscape’?
I need to have mine set to ‘Landscape Flipped’ or else I get the same result as you do.

I hope you get it working soon :)

Another option I like to do to each game is remove the crosshair, most games a 3D crosshair makes my eyes hurt. Also try joy 2 key for controller set up. I use 2 move navigation controllers all mapped out for skyrim and other games. I’m working on an easy tutorial that will explain how to get it all working but its not to hard after you have it down.
