Since I only mentioned my top three I’d like to add TES:Oblivion to the mix. It’s probably my number 2 and IMO is much better than Skyrim and Fallout because of perfect hand models. It runs great even with 4k, Unique Landscapes mod and TES4LodGen on ultimate, which makes it look even better than Skyrim. I do admit I have a GTX 1080 TI, but I honestly think the game is bottled-necked by either the cpu or the engine itself and not the GPU. This is probably my favorite Bethesda game of all time and I’m happy to say it also runs just as good as Fallout NV and much better than Skyrim and Fallout 4 with Vorpx. If you liked SKyrim and never played Oblivion than there has never been a better time than now!
Mods that enhance VR (all can be found on http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion):
– FOV Modifier (A must! For a constant FOV)
– Oblivion Stutter Remover (Must for smooth framerate)
– Enhanced Camera
– Dot Crosshair
– Darnified UI
– Loot Menu (tweak the mod’s ini to fit inside the vorpx screen)
– Hud and Camera Toggler (set hotkey in mod’s ini file. Google “oblivion key code” to find out the codes for different keys)
Look through this list for Gameplay mods:

And this for graphic mods (be conservative):

Be warned Oblivion is a crash fest compared to Skyrim, so don’t through to many big overhauls into the mix all at once!
Skyrim works but FO4 doesn’t.
Edit: Creating a Desktop Shortcut, through the vorpX tray icon, directly to the game exe file worked.
For some reason, my post keeps disappearing so I’ve put it on pastebin.
In the pastebin link, I’ve listed all running processes.
Can you please advise?

I remember that some time ago, I was experimenting with a couple of mods, which allowed me to replace current HUD, and put one with bars very similar to Skyrim, among others, also allowed to touch up the transparency of them, and option to enable/disable among other things.
However, I am extremely interested in trying anything “automatic” that I can get through Ralf to oblivion with Vorpx.
Due to the way vorpX works, the SteamVR super sampling doesn’t really affect vorpX. What’s important is the resolution the game runs with. The internal image scaling is only avaialble in a handful of DX9 games (e.g. Skyrim).
vorpX automatically downsamples as soon as you run a game with a resolution higher than the display res of your headset. The major caveat in this regard is that games don’t launch in resolutions higher than you monitor allows if run fullscreen. So if you “only” have a 1920×1080 monitor, you need to run games windowed to allow resolutions higher than that. Not possible for every game, but for many.
You need to find a compromise between performance and resolution, which varies from game to game. 45fps are a requirement for comfortable VR (check with ALT-F). That said 1920×1440 is a good resolution for most games on a highend system. For older games even more might be possible with a truly fast machine.
Generally you should choose 4:3/5:4 resolutions, widescreen resolutions are a waste processing power since many rendered pixels won’t be visible in the headset.
Is it possible to implement a scalable hud feature for Oblivion as the ones in Fallout and Skyrim? Aside from the obnoxious hud Oblivion is working even better than SKyrim and Fallout, because of much better hand models.
Hi,
I am having an issue with Vorpx today : I can not get it to launch.
When I’m starting Vorpx, the tray icon appears normally, but when I put my cursor on it, it disappears.
I was playing Skyrim normally (on my rift) just one hour from now. But then, just after going out of an inn, my game froze. It already happened before, and the only way I could get rid of this situation was to reset my computer. So I did it again this time.
But then when I reloaded my computer, this happened : Bitdefender said to me “Hi, you are on Bitdefender Total Security 2018 now !” and then I could not start Vorpx anymore.
So here is what I did :
– first of all I restarted my computer (uneffective)
– then, I remembered Bitdefender saying to me it upgraded, so I temporarily disabled it (but again, that did not change anything)
– finally, I re downloaded Vorpx (in vain)
I searched on the internet : I saw one or 2 threads concerning the same problem, but everytime the answer was about virus scans or something like that. But if disabling Bitdefender does not change a thing, then what can I do ?
I have gotten strange borders like that before and it was from weather mods mixed with lighting mods. Mods that add in volumetric fog or ambient mist or maybe even lighting mods can create weird visuals. It has something to do with the combination of these types of mods at least it did on my system. Maybe its the same thing going on with your game. The mod that really seemed to do this was a mod that added 3D clouds to Skyrim. Some people have been able to tweek their ENB to minimize these effects but I never tried. I just lived with it because the small border around certain objects was worth the sweet 3D clouds. As much of pain in the but that it is maybe tr a fresh install, making sure to remove ALL files in install folders as mods are NOT removed when just uninstalling Skyrim, they stay in the folders.
In high contrast situations you sometimes see something like that as an display artifact in any VR game, especially when reprojection (“Timewarp”) is used.
In your image the effect looks stronger than I would expect it though. Provided the image wasn’t retouched, the only option that comes to mind is that maybe time warping doesn’t work like it should, which would leed to motion blur/double images similar to what your image shows whenever you rotate your head.
In case you changed any settings on the Direct VR page of the vorpX menu, please check whether “Async. Rendering” is enabled. Having that on (which is the default) not only helps massively with performance, it also ensures that Timewarp is working.
Also make sure that the game is running at 45fps min. Lower frame rates can’t be compensated that well with time warping.
i’ve seen this timewarp effect during other applications, but i dont think it is the issue here. the image is as close to what i see as i could recreate, ingame it can actually be more intense at points than what the picture shows.
ill check async rendering, think i messed around with it at some point, Thanks :)
i’m not sure if using any mods with skyrim vorpx vr is a good idea.
i played skyrim vanilla with vorpx and i didnt have any issue.
did you try to run it without any mods ?
yea, with or without mods, same issue :P thanks anyway
I had the same problem. I never figured out what caused it, but re-installing Skyrim fixed it.
funny thing, i had just reinstalled skyrim, but i have a steam folder on both my HDD, perhaps it found already messed up files in the reinstallation. at this point, im wiping skyrim from everything, complete fresh install. hopefully the issue is fixed, as it was with your case. thanks :)

First post, not sure if i should be posting here or technical support, anyway.
im loving VorpX, but in skyrim im getting an awful effect or something that is solely ruining the experience. cant capture screenshots, or atleast, dont know how, so i recreated my problem, heres pic album

as you can see, this strange black tracer/shadow trails everything, not when its moving, but when i move my HMD. it doesnt seem to always happen, and from what i can deduce one eye has the effect horizontally, but not vertically, and the other vice versa. it almost appears as if theres some layer ontop of my view, that cant quite keep up with the rest of the world.
Specs for reference, incase its important or something
GPU- r9 390 8gb
CPU- i5 7600k
RAM- 16Gb
HMD- Oculus CV1
afaik im not using any ENB or shadow/graphical mods, just quests, better maps, weather stuff etc
Graphics somewhere floating in the high/max range, apart from this issue, it runs fine.
Any help is much appreciated, thanks :)
Kennysalvi, I’m also a bit intrigued at the new Pimax…and the old Pimax as a possibility of playing games like Skyrim in VR at higher res in vorpx…knowing that Skyrim has no positional tracking. Since (as a Rift user myself) all I need presently (for games like Skyrim) is a boost in visual VR resolution…since open world games like Skyrim need that boost…but only in the open world areas!!
The new 8k version does have 2 4k screens…but…they are doing some driver/hardware level magic that flips 4k between each lens at a high framerate…thus tricking the brain into thinking it is seeing a higher resolution. So in actual fact it’s not really showing or processing 8k imagery…it’s still 4k…or what they are calling 4k/8k. It will be some time before we see 8k…even in 2D screen technology. Presently, the 1080 Ti can do 8k but not at a fps rate than is worth even doing…and probably only suited for desktop style graphics where fps is not an issue.
It will be interesting to see if this product can do what they are claiming.
The Skyrim engine does have its issues but it definitely can handle resolutions higher than 1920×1440 in vorpx. I am currently running Skyrim (old) with 15 visual mods at 2800×2160, high settings in main Skyrim menu…z-buffer…at 90fps, with the odd drop due to original engine optimization issues in certain cities/areas. This is a known Skyrim problem as it happens even in 2D in the same areas.
The reason I’ve asked here is due to what I originally said in my OP. I’m asking the vorpx community for input on the game running in VR not 2D…if anyone has any input on that.
Dark Souls community will only have input on 2D gameplay.
There are 2 different versions of DS 2…original DX9 and updated DX11. Ralf mentioned about 1 year ago that DX9 does both G3D & z-buffer…Dx11 only does z-buffer. (For strictly VR)…I’m wondering which one gives better performance…like Skyrim vs SE…one is better than the other in vorpx VR.
