I’m not having much luck getting SR:SE fps working good on vive. Around 30-40 fps this is after the optimizing with vorpx settings.
also the game looks pretty hazy. I used to run the Skyrim on my dk2 with vorpx and I do not remember it being this bad. I now have a 1070 now and more system ram. I thought it would be running better (cpu its icore 7)

If one has problems with camera modes and head tracking u have to adjust sensivity of the head track in vorpx menue

I have seen several threads here about problems when running Skyrim via MO.
I’ve made some experiments today on a Vive and it seems it works perfectly fine.

Using MO makes sense if you already use it and want to keep using it. Or if you want to keep playing Skyrim not only with vorpX but also on a normal screen.
The profiles of MO are not only about the mods. They have their own ini and save files. This means that you can switch from flat to VR with a single change of an option in a drop down list. The VR and flat profiles will have the correct resolution, FOV and other tweaks as well as the appropriate mods. Switching between flat and VR takes a second. No need to constantly rename files and directories as you would do with NMM or if not using a manager.

In my setup I use ENB Boost Injector that I also start via MO. I didn’t see any performance problems. It seems to me the new vorpX version allows more mods to be installed ( :-) ) which makes ENB Boost essential to prevent crashes.

One important thing that people can be missing when setting up the VR profile are the ini files. They contain not only the resolution and the FOV values, but also the tweaks vorpX makes for the shadows in the game.
The best way to deal with this is : Run the vorpX config, open the default ini files (in Documents/My Games/Skyrim) that are now optimized and copy/paste their content into the ini edit window of MO. It is under Tools – the fifth icon on the MO’s toolbar.

Hope this info helps somebody. This is only for Oldrim. I don’t play SSE (yet) for reasons and have no idea if MO2 will work correctly or not.

You need to restart Skyrim (the original DX9 Skyrim) for the G3D settings change to work. There should be a message stating that, but maybe it isn’t displayed for you for some reason.

You may could also try to reset the profile to its default values in the config app, either through a re-import from the cloud or on the trouble shooting page. Skyrim has Geometry 3D enabled with the default settings.

Also please try without ENB. Only if you also have this problem without ENB, I can classify it as potential vorpX issue. As much as I would like to be less restrictive in this matter, two programs hooking into DirectX at the same time is a matter so complex that it is impossible to provide official support for something like that.

It may work, but if it doesn’t, not much can be done.

How do you play in 1st person?

There are camera mods but I haven’t experimented with them yet.
I just found out that a camera mod for Skyrim is messing up the scan of the Direct VR and is breaking the head rotation. And I’m afraid to try camera mods now.
Which camera mod are you using for W3?

Could you check whether it works without ENB? If so there likely is a conflict between ENB and vorpX. Sonce both hook into DirectX than is always prossible.

Another (although unlikely) option would be that you maybe renamed your TESV.exe to something else? For that unlikely case please make sure to add the renamed to the Skyrim profile in the vorpX config app.

    Hey Ralf,
There is a game breaking bug with skyrim now. The skills screen shows the large black box instead of the skills menu. I suspect it has to do with FOV, as the black box is the screen size it should be without the FOV changes.
BTW, have you considered not auto-updating everyone’s vorpx version, because a lot of times I just get a game the way I want, and then a new bug is introduced which prevents me from playing.

Hi Ralf my skyrim is working really well with an injected ENB but won’t run in Geometry mode, is this meant to be the case? If I set it to Geometry 3D, restart, there is no change.

When I start the game I don’t get the black square in the main menu, instead I get a zoomed in version and have to zoom out. I’m hoping this is an easy fix

TL;DR: Skyrim SE + VorpX + DirectVR = Gold Standard for VR wrappers

First off let me say I bought VoprX a long time ago, so I’ve seen the progress, the hard work, and all the noise surrounding this product. I know it has been too complicated for some, and just plain doesn’t work for others, but that hasn’t been my experience. I’m also a huge Elder Scrolls fan since Daggerfall, and Skyrim has been one of the best gaming experience I have had even before VR came along. I have used VR wrappers with DK1, DK2, and CV1. I’ve used TriDef, Veirio Perception, and VorpX because let’s face it they all had their strengths and weaknesses when things were first being researched and experimented with. At the very end of 2016 Ralf released version 17.x of VorpX and once again changed the game for me. I thought I had a solid Skyrim profile dialed in previously, but Direct VR changed everything. So much so, that once I got Skyrim and Skyrim SE all dialed in again I started a new games all over from scratch. I can’t say enough about how great the experience is now. I can play longer without eye strain, the scale of everything is spot on, and warp/distortion (that was minimal already) is gone. The sense of presence and immersion went way up again. I find myself walking everywhere instead of running. I walk around just going WOW! I wanted to take a moment just to say that the $40 I spent on VorpX would have been worth it for Skyrim alone and I really appreciate all the hard work and effort Ralf has done to keep this software advancing and improving with every new release. Skyrim with VorpX is the experience I compare all other VorpX profiles to. Don’t get me wrong there are a lot of games that VorpX works great with and the new Direct VR has improved those as well. For me though, Skyrim SE is the gold standard, and to be honest I haven’t had time to try many of the other games yet because I’m completely lost in Skyrim all over again. Thank you Ralf and VorpX.

Hey guys, I’ve been enjoying Skyrim with VorpX for a while but now that I’ve leveled a little bit I’ve encountered a new problem:

The perk tree is not visible, even edge peek doesn’t help. It looks like there is a black screen over the regular screen. Only the skill names are readable, but you don’t see the actual perk tree.

The same black screen overlay is visible during the loading screen (where the in-game tips are shown and in the background should be some kind of object, either people, monsters or items).

Anyone who has a solution to this problem?

The option to disable the mirror window will be brought back with the next update although it doesn’t really make any sense anymore technically. So if you think that may help you with your issue, maybe it will. I wouldn’t count on it though.

Since your problem isn’t related to vorpX, it would probably make more sense to solve the actual issue you are encountering on your PC with Skyrim. Unfortunately I can’t really help you with that, sorry.

Did you apply the Game Settings Optimizer settings in the vorpX config app? Skyrim is one of the regular test cases here and I can assure you that in runs smoothly at 45fps (and full 90fps in interiors on a fast machine) on a 60Hz monitor with vopX 17.1 with the mirror window shown. It also has the exact same performance as before (on Vive even slightly better).

I applied them of course. And described “60 FPS lock issue” happens to me without VorpX and even with Oculus unplugged. I run Skyrim SE, get 24 fps during first logo and then cap of 61 in actual game. Fat horizontal distortions are present, which tells me it’s not a VSync issue. I even overclocked my monitor to 65 Hz so 60 is no more native. No change. I know it’s an issue and I’m sure it takes place only on some systems. What causes it is a mystery. I found that in some cases Win10’s Xbox DVR may cause similar problem, but disabling it did nothing aswell. Problem like this seems to be sort of common (for Win10 users?), as like there: https://us.battle.net/forums/en/overwatch/topic/20747694749 . Soooo… just saying. VSync off doesn’t help, fullscreen/bordelress neither, changing monitor refresh rate neither. Any other game feels free to run at 100+ fps without VSync.

When I first tried Skyrim SE, I thought the head tracking didn’t work. Then I figured out – oddly – that the head tracking works when the Vorpx menu is opened, but not once it is closed. Then I realized the Vive controller and keyboard shortcut ways to open Vorpx can throw the head tracking out of sync.

May not help at all, but worth telling you.

vorpX already applies that tweak when you use the Game Optimizer for Skyrim. But that’s not even necessary as I just tested with a fresh, untouched .ini file. vorpX’s new internal VSync handling alone works perfectly fine for the game.

But I guess you are right. I’m always keen to remove options that aren’t really necessary to make things simpler. And while this one indeed isn’t really necessary anymore, it will still be back with the next update for those who want to use it.

    For skyrim disable vsync with
    ipresentinterval=0
    in the ini file

Having the mirror screen on the monitor is a great option but nice to have an off switch for those who may not want it for whatever reason.
