Hi all, new vorpx user here
I purchased vorpx last week after having watched numerous youtube videos and lurking on the forums.
Everything installed and I can pull up the desktop viewer, vorpx starts and also the configuration utility boots up
However, when I start any game with a vorpx profile, for example dishonored (without steam VR running), the intros run in 3d and I can boot into the game, but when I have played just a few seconds (which look absolutely amazing in 3d) the game freezes, and then the link between my oculus and pc drops out (this happens with a physical cable and also through the new air link feature on the quest 2). The same happens with Crysis 3 which I have on my origin account.
If I am playing a native steam VR game (eg the Talos principle) I can play without any dropouts, so I am assuming the link is good.
I have looked through the various help sections but nothing seems to apply. I have completely uninstalled my AVG antivirus, logged out of my VPN and have also uninstalled any hardware utilities such as HW monitor; GPUZ etc. I cannot see any other software that to my mind be interfering but am assuming there is still something running in the background which is causing conflicts.
It is really frustrating as I feel I am so close to getting everything working.
I am now thinking of buying another SSD and having a dual boot windows 10 PC with the new installation being for purely VR/Vorpx games with nothing other than the OS and necessary programs on.
Any help you can think of would be greatly appreciated
Ian
If you are new to vorpX, you probably want to hop right into the action instead of learning how to configure vorpX. The list below contains first person games that work with litlle to no configuration in ‘Full VR’ due to vorpX’s DirectVR functionality, which can configure important things like field of view, head tracking or resolution automatically.
For third person games that are usually played best in immersive screen or cinema mode not much configuration is required in general, so this list focuses on first person ‘Full VR’ games that can be a little harder to configure without DirectVR.
If you are stuck, make sure to check the ‘Essential Hints Guide’ and the ‘Quick Reference’ in the help. They help you understand a few basic concepts.

Star Trek Voyager Elite ForceI have a problem running Skyrim, where the display has a severe ‘stutter’ every second or so, especially when moving and turning. This is currently making it unplayable. The weird thing is that it’s just started happening recently, out of the blue, and I can’t identify anything that has changed that might be causing it.
This is driving me crazy, so I’d be incredibly grateful if anyone has any ideas, thanks!
I’ve been playing Skyrim (original) with Vorpx for some time (over 50 hrs in), with a bunch of mods installed, and at 1600×1200 with 2x oversampling. It’s been performing reasonably, but I noticed a significant slowdown in places like Markarth. To try and help the performance, I decided to swap out some of the mods (I was running various texture packs, Climates of Tamriel, Realistic Lighting Overhaul etc.). When I did so, I found it wasn’t helping, and I noticed the stuttering described above. So, I switched back to my original config, and the stuttering was still there :( Thinking I’d messed something up with the mods, I backed up my save games and reinstalled Skyrim from scratch. For good measure, I also reinstalled Vorpx. It didn’t help and, even with no mods (and not even the official HD textures) nothing I do gets rid of the stuttering. The way it’s set up now, it should be running way faster than before. Now I don’t think it’s really a performance issue, as this happens even on the initial menu screen, and reducing oversampling and resolution doesn’t help much. I also get the same issue if I switch to Z-Buffer, rather than G3D. Things I’ve tried:
– Reinstall Skyrim and Vorpx
– Uninstall GeForce Experience, and make sure the Nvidia 3D vision bits are not installed
– Tried latest, and older Nvidia drivers (388.59)
– Stop Kaspersky Antivirus and its service (so nothing from Kaspersky running)
– Stop various other things such as Google Drive and OneDrive
– Check for anything dodgy in Task Manager (couldn’t find anything)
– Unplug everything from USB apart from mouse/keyboard and the Oculus bits
– Use Oculus Tray Tool to increase the Oculus service process priority
– Check my Windows power settings are on ‘everything full speed’
– Try running a ‘flat’ game (no Oculus/Vorpx) – no stuttering
– Try running a demanding Steam VR game (Talos principle on high/ultra graphics settings) – no stuttering, it’s perfectly smoothI’m out of ideas, I think. Does anyone have any other suggestions (other than reinstalling Windows, which is not an option at the moment)? Has anyone seen anything similar?
Cheers :)
My specs:
Core i7 2600K overclocked and stable at 4.2 GHz
12GB RAM
Nvidia GTX 1080 card
Skyrim, Vorpx and Oculus installed on SSDsI think they eyes are reversed!!! The far stuff seems nearer than the near stuff. Any way to flip this? I have the 3D Restructuring set to Geometry, 0.20, and it’s delightful, except the near/far flip.
Also, it works like that in the Virtual Theater mode, where you can see the screen, and the seats with the guy sitting there holding a controller.
If I turn OFF virtual Theater and jump into the actual game, when I tilt my head down, a giant black curtain starts sweeping through the screen, making everything go away! It all comes back if I tilt my head back up, but it really tends to affect the immersion. ;)
It’s okay if I keep my head relatively level (which I think the Theater mode does for me, game-wise), but looking down, everything goes away.
Win7, Rift CV1, GTX 980, on top of SteamVR, new fast system, loads of RAM, current vorpX. Any way to reverse the eyes while I wait for the giant black curtain to get ironed out? (Pun!)
Thanks!
I bought VorpX today just to enable VR support on my DK2 with the Talos Principle, which I also bought today.
I have installed the newest Oculus 0.8 runtime, the newest nVidia driver, and (I presume) the newest VorpX (since it just downloaded today and I have read on this site that the downloader always installs the latest version).
The DK2 works just fine for games and demos that I have used previously; all of them have native VR support.
However, when I run the VorpX program (with the corresponding yellow V in the windows tray), and then run the Talos Principle, I get the standard DK2 disclaimer screen in the DK2 but then only a black screen. I also get nothing but a dark grey screen on my monitor with a mouse cursor in the middle. I can move the mouse cursor but can’t do anything else. I have to ctrl-alt-delete, then show my desktop, to find the task manager showing that The Talos Principle is “not responding”.
I bought VorpX today specifically because The Talos Principle is reported as a supported game. So how can I get this game to work with VorpX?
For what it’s worth, I’m not running any anti virus software, any special 3d drivers or applications or really much of anything at all. I keep this PC free of almost everything, I just use it to run DK2 demos mostly and have very little installed.
Thank you!
