So, FOV scales automatically with manual resolution setting in the ini file:
I changed the following lines and left everything else alone:
iSize H=2160
iSize W=3840
bFull Screen=1
bBorderless=0
Launching the game again, the whole screen was in use, but I wasn’t sure if it was being used properly or if a 16:9 aspect ratio was merely being stretched to fill the desired resolution.
I don’t have Fallout 76, but I saw this article and thought of you guys.

If you’re not bothered by a bit of letterboxing, you can make it a little better with a balanced combination of:
a. zooming the screen out a fair distance (things become smaller)
b. decreasing FOV to compensate (to maintain world scale)
c. re-adjusting 3D strength to your preferred balance of depth vs scale
(increasing makes things smaller but pop more, decreasing makes things bigger but lose some depth)
Also, don’t forget to use the “main eye” option for games that use iron sights. It greatly helps aiming with your preferred eye. Enable expert settings in vorpX Config for access in game.
You shouldn’t have to do anything, vorpX has a profile for Witcher 3 that gets activated automatically when you launch the game.
Hey, Its my first time using VorpX. Can someone please give me a solid guide to how to set this up for Witcher 3 in 2018? I saw some steroscopic pictures of the Witcher world… I’d love to have something like that.
Unmechanical (G3D)
You know me by now, i always try something different. This is a much discussed futuristic 3D puzzle game which was yearning for a S3D profile. Incredible how this little game looks like in VR, just like its been made for it.
– Change desired resolution in UDKEngine.ini under ResX and ResY
– Rename UDK.exe to UDm.exe
– Start game with Udm.exe
– Optimized for cinema modes
– Profile availiable from the cloud

For some reason, in every Source Engine game I’ve tried(Portal 2, Half-Life 2, Black Mesa) my weapons look huge. I tried adjusting the viewmodel FOV, but that doesn’t fix the problem.
I’ve tried looking for a solution in the forums, but for some reason I haven’t seen anyone else bring it up. People talk about how Source Engine games work perfectly but never mention this issue.
Is this a widespread thing? Or is it relatively rare? And does it have a fix?
Also, on an unrelated note, I saw that the latest update for VorpX added Direct VR support for F.E.A.R. 2. Would it be possible for you to add Direct VR support for the first F.E.A.R. game?
Thank you for your patience.
There is no DirectVR scan for Dirt4. The only head tracking that is available is vorpX emulating a gamepad stick with your headset. While rather laggy this method is passable for immersive screen mode, which is used for the game per default.
Should work without you having to do anything normally. If you have no head tracking at all, check whether gamepad controls are enabled in the game’s input options.
The DirectVR memory scanner potentially can cause crashes, writing directly in a game’s memory is a delicate thing to do. Hence the message in that regard that is shown during each scan.
If you know that certain actions trigger a crash, you can temporarily disable DirectVR memory writing with ALT+K beforehand.
Everything I could say now would be pure speculation, so not of much use.
If I have anything more profound to share in regard to high FOV headsets in the future, I will do so. Just doesn’t really make sense for me to speculate. Hope that’s understandable.
Of course, completely understood.
How does Kingdom Come Deliverance play on a non TI 1080 when using the Vive? Is it still playable?

I can’t really say anything beyond what I said in the Pimax thread.
It’s relatively simple: the larger the FOV and the larger the resolution the more horsepower you need. If you have a modern game, let’s say Kingdom Come Deliverance, that runs at an OK, yet not perfect framerate with Rift/Vive on a GTX1080Ti with Geometry 3D, you can pretty naturally expect it to run at a hardly playable framerate when you start cranking up FOV and resolution.
That’s simply how these things work. More geometry (higher FOV) + more pixels (higher resolution) means severely less performance. Wishing it would be different is a bit like wishing the sun would always shine. 🙂 Everyone would love that, but it won’t happen.
Is it possible for you to have VorpX constrain the FOV if FOV adjustment isn’t available for the StarVR?
@ralf
Are you saying if you disable async in vorpx settings you can use steamvr “motion smoothing”?
There are a couple of graphic mods for AI you could try, though I don’t know how well they work with VorpX. A ton of SweetFX profiles too that may or may not hook with VorPX. There are gameplay mods as well and I’ve used some of them. Personally I always switch off film grain as I dislike it. I want games to look as real as I can make them and real life doesn’t have any film grain … Same thing with lens flares.
That is a clear oversight indeed. Will be changed for the next update.
BTW: I just uploaded an updated RE7 profile (author [vorpX]) to the cloud that should finally fix the hand/weapon halo.
It’s more or less untested though, so consider it potentially broken in some other way. Would be great if you could give some feedback in regard to potential side effects, e.g. anything important like UI elements/text/game objects missing. In that case I would have to revert the fix.
So in resident evil 7 I use 2d edge peek to view objects of interest. I’ve usedcamera ht modifier to hide the hideous gun aiming hands which look totally weird like hole punched or something weird. The issue is using edge peek the camera ht modifiers are still in effect and it makes it impossible to see normal things. I’d like an option to keep edge peek a truthful view of the regular game. Possible?
Thanks
:)
