You could try a copy of another DX11 Unreal engine game profile (e.g. Bioshock Infinite). No guarantee that this will work, but always worth a try.

These aren’t all FPS games, but are excellent picks:

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is AWESOME in VR if you’re into mystery adventures
Elite Dangerous if you like space exploration games
The Elder Scrolls Series – primarily Skyrim.
    Fallout 4
    The Batman Arkham Series
    Metro 2033
Call of Duty Black Ops 1-3, Battlefield 3-4 and even Hardline, Any Splinter Cell or Crysis game
    Alien Isolation
    Quake I-III
    Half Life 2
    Portal
The Witcher 1 and 2 if you like extended campaign games that will suck all your time, not sure if Witcher III is manageable at acceptable graphics levels
    Bioshock: Infinite
    Borderlands
    GTA IV and V
and to tickle your fear of heights check out Mirror’s Edge

Essentially if your computer can run it, and it’s built on a major game engine like Unreal, Unity, and quite a few others – it’ll play in VorpX. The less popular it is the more tweaking you’ll have to do though because it won’t have been done already by someone else. Once you get used to the Vorpx in game menu you’ll be able to get games to run. Whether you get a true stereoscopic experience depends on how the game was coded though.

I’m sure that’s clear as mud now.. lol. But hopefully there are a couple of games on there you can check out that are well established as compatible.

Middle mouse button moves the screen to my left. I have to turn around in my chair to look at it. It helps with navigating menus, but is there a way to tell it which is forward facing in the seated position?

Which game profiles would be recommended to copy in VorpX to try and get the following games working?

    SQUAD uses Unreal Engine 4.12

Hey guys, i’m interested in support for games on Unreal Engine 1, like Unreal Gold, Unreal Tournament ’99, Undying etc.

I know this is new land, but maybe someone has already tested it.

I’m interested in full Stereoscopic 3D, nothing else will do, only the real thing. :)

Okay so I managed to install VorpX however it seems completely broken , whenever I launch games through Vorpx they now always open the oculus home menu , the game displays on my monitor and a black screen (usually before intro cinematics) will display on the rift , Nothing else loads or displays on the rift after that.

The game will be completely playable via monitor but not at all on the rift.

Also I managed to get another game to open up but with a different conclusion

I opened another game it displayed on my monitor perfectly but , I got like a oculus VR blank grid that displays which asks me to look at the center to accept and display my game , upon doing that it just loads forever and never displays the game

    am I missing something?

I’ve had run untrusted oculus services checked and unchecked still to no avail

It seems like anything related to oculus starts the oculus home viewer and from there on , VorpX does nothing except keep the blue light from my tracker on , games that ran before on unreal engine 4 just instantly crash , seems the only games I’m able to play are the ones just that come with the new 1.3 platform , nothing’s working on my end on the new update.

Okay, I enjoyed G3D games with VorpX alot, so I look at Unreal 3 Engine FPS, which are not supported yet and try them with renamed game exe. Here are my results and begging to Ralf to make them supported because of problems with steam and FOV, when renaming.
My FOV recommendations with them: The official recommendation is 120 FOV at 1920×1080 Pixel 1:1 Distance Zoom 1.00
With that settings you have mostly a good perspective, but massive overhead to the sides and blurry image, because you can see only a third of the picture. So I try to “calibrate” it with 90 FOV and 1600×1200 / 4:3 resolution.
    90 FOV: Distance Zoom 0.56
    or
    95 FOV: Distance Zoom 0.60
This looks the same than 120 FOV at 1.00 Zoom, but without overhead and a much clearer graphic (more ppi).
Renaming: There are a couple of UE3 Profiles with different features. I tested with BorderlandsPreSequel.exe and ADVGame-Win32-Shipping.exe (Deadfall)
    Both offer positional headtracking.

    Now the games:

    Bulletstorm (ShippingPC-StormGame.exe)

Ingame graphic settings I set shadows and Post Processing to low.
Resolution to 1920×1080 (4:3 gives black bars)
To set FOV use this Tool, because of crypted inis:
    http://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/download/580-bulletstorm-ini-editor/
    to edit the ini’s:
    FOV
    1. Go to %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Bulletstorm\StormGame\Config\ StormCamera.ini
    2. Change to the desired FOV.

    Framerate
    1. Edit %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Bulletstorm\StormGame\Config\StormEngine.ini
    2. Change MaxSmoothedFrameRate to a higher cap; alternately, remove the frame rate cap entirely by setting bSmoothFrameRate to false.

    Mouse Smoothing (for proper Headtracking)
    1. Edit %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Bulletstorm\StormGame\Config\StormInput.ini
    2. Find bEnableMouseSmoothing and to ‘false’ to disable mouse smoothing.

You also need to calibrate Headtracking manually per VorpX Menu: Fokus something in “real life” and slowly shake your head left and right and notice how it stays in your view. Then do the same ingame and edit the HeadTracking value.

    My G3D rating: 8/10

very little lightning issues, some auto head movement when walking and fast gameplay makes it a little nauseous. Iron Sight you need to aim between the dots, its playable. Great 3D-Effekt.

Nearly the same settings with Bulletstorm ini editor with:
    Alien Rage Unlimited (ShippingPC-AFEARGame.exe)

This game has some strange light sources in G3D, so I only recommend Z3D.

    Homefront (HOMEFRONT.exe)

The FOV settings ingame only works for Multiplayer, not the Campaign (only in first mission). There is a Homefront FOV Changer: http://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/download/487-homefront-fov-changer/
But that only works with the HOMEFRONT.exe, so we need a profile for that.

G3D, positional-tracking works (turn of DX11 ingame, restart), but many issues especially with shadows. So turn down shadows ingame, Post Processing and turn off frame limit and mouse smoothing in the game menus. Weapon sights are good playable with red dot weapons. Easier for the eye with Z3D.

My G3D rating 6/10. Too many graphical problems with g3d, but playable. +1 with the FOV changer.

    Medal of Honor (2010) (moh.exe)

The Campaign is UE3 Engine, so works great (Multiplayer is Frostbite). Documents\EA Games\Medal of Honor\Config\MOHAEngine.ini
    bSmoothFrameRate=false
    MOHAInput.ini
    bEnableMouseSmoothing=false
The G3D looks amazing with very little lightning issues, but overall nearly perfect, but…
The FOV is 55. Again there is a FOV-Changer for the original.exe:
    http://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/download/389-medal-of-honor-2010-fov-changer/
    So… VorpX specific profile needed.
G3D rating: 9.5/10 possible if getting FOV to a playable view

    Santum 2 (SanctumGame-Win32-Shipping.exe)

Wow, that was a surprise. It’s a steam only game, so you can’t rename it so easily, but after I get it to work with the Deadfall profile (ADVGame-Win32-Shipping.exe), the game works flawlessly in G3D, with all graphic options maxed out, even shadows and lightning stuff and keeps a clean graphical image. Even FOV adjustable in the menus. Easy setup, looks great, very nice to play in VR.
    \Documents\My Games\Sanctum2\SanctumGame\Config
    SanctumEngine.ini
    bSmoothFrameRate=false
    SanctumInput.ini
    bEnableMouseSmoothing=false

    G3D-rating 10/10

    Singularity (Singularity.exe)

Looks amazing in G3D, but yeah, bad FOV…
Needs Flawless Widescreen or Widescreen Fixer Tool to fix FOV. So not with renamed exe.
    G3D-rating 10/10 (with better FOV)

    Section 8 Prejudice (S9-Win32-F.exe)

Untested, because it has a launcher and can’t rename the game.exe
    FOV settings per ini:
    http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Section_8:_Prejudice#Field_of_view_.28FOV.29
    bSmoothFrameRate & bEnableMouseSmoothing like usual.

    Rainbow Six Vegas 2 (R6Vegas2_Game.exe)

Very narrow FOV and not changeable, enjoyable in a cinema view setting. Now the UE3 Engine begins to look old and outdated 😉
Maybe it helps to fiddle around with Widescreen Fixer:
    https://www.widescreenfixer.org/
    Very good G3D Effekt.

@Ralf: All the above called exe just need a copy/paste UE3-profile.

How the heck do you get medal of honor to work it just fails to start in steam when i rename it. I’m getting so sick and tired of this bs

    Yes, I can.

    Unreal Tournament III (UT3.exe)

Tested with BorderlandsPreSequel.exe profile and its working great with postional head tracking. With default graphic settings the maps looking flawless in G3D, except the player models have some shadows/lightning issues, but very little and you can set up any graphic settings easily in the ingame menus. So turn off dynamic shadows helped. Mouse ,fps smoothing and FOV are adjustable in the menus too, so works splendid without editing ini files. You can’t move or scale the HUD with the profile.
Again my settings: 1600×1200, 95 FOV ingame, Pixel ratio 1:1, 0.6 distance, don’t forget to calibrate head tracking.

    G3D-rating 10/10
if you can stand the simulator sickness with a fast-paced shooter ;)

Vorpx was working fine for me in every game

    Skyrim
    Zombiu
    Dirt 3
    Aliens vs predator 3
    Penumbra
    Amnesia
    Bfbc2
    Alien isolation
    Necrovision
    Gtaiv
    Gtav
    Bf3/4
    Payday 2
    Far cry 3/4

Then after the 0.9.1 version I got the error “unnable to initiate oculus runtime”, this was because the new driver invalidated every occulus runtime version below version 7.

Now only Skyrim and Zombiu work.

Updating to windows 10 made every game on steam and several others crash instantly upon starting, despite them working perfectly before the update to 0.9.1. and after several days of troubleshooting I am certain the problem is privilege related, to uncontingent framework dependencies, and those are basically just i/o. What really changed was not changed by me.

Im guessing the reason you couldnt use clone screen but used direct to HMD is the same reason i am getting the crashes, because the process that simulates direct to hmd is what is malfunctioning.

So I am instead forced to do a system restore to fix this, but the vorpx autoupdater is a pain, I have to be offline to use it.

If there was an option to not update beyond a certain patch i would be very grateful, at the current time whatever features are added do not matter because i am unnable to run almost any games with them anyway.

In windows 10 there is slight mouseacceleration which makes it unservicable for practising counterstrike unreal tournament or starcraft II at a competitive level, and i am not talking about the improved pointer precision feature.

I would bore you with links and videos of how i can compete at any level with the occulus rift as the FOV inflation makes you extremely accurate (try it for yourself if you dont believe me!) but giving an alternative just for me and a couple of others who struggle with windows 10 is a longshot anyway.

The reason i dont mind using direct to HMD is because i have gotten extremely good at running it, first i turn the HMD on, then i use launchy to start executibles using touch such as Vorpx, i never have to see them even open. For windows i close one eye and have perfect perception, i have to admit it was very difficult in the beginning and i understand the efficiency is much greater with the “Direct HMD access from apps” mode, but the compatability renders this useless for consumers that are not developers.

Are you certain 0.9.1. works with the games i have listed?

Either way vorpx is the best software for vr gaming, the customization perticularly with the real time IPD, 2d FOV and headtracking sensitivity was worth every penny i spent, when fully optimized i can play for days and not get motionsickness, so thank you deerly Ralf and the vorpx team.

Sorry if I didn’t say that clear enough: As far as I’m aware they don’t support the DK1 after 0.7 officially anymore

cybereality on the Oculus Dev Forums have confirmed that DK1 is supported on 0.7 and over.

There are a few applications that have problems with DK1 such as ARK, JanusVR and VorpX. But there are plenty other applications that work flawlessly such as Virtual Desktop and many more.

I have even tried making a quick demo in Unreal Engine and that works without any issues. A demo made in Unity does have issues though.

If it was a runtime problem then no application would work on DK1 but that is not true.

    Same issue…

Windows 10, latest Nvidia drivers, DK2, Oculus 0.8.0.

Every other VR program runs perfectly, oculus share games, the config demo, unreal engine, etc. etc.

However, the new version of VorpX refuses to recognize the DK2 when everything else does.

What am I doing wrong ?

Edit: Well whats wrong is I’m still running V.0.8.1.0 beta & VorpX will not auto update. So now I’m stuck waiting for a web installer link to be emailed as mine has expired. Kind of ridiculous that I have to jump through hoops for your people just to have access to a $40 piece of software I already own. I don’t understand why the web installer isn’t easily accessible on your site when you have such a stringent registration process. Honestly, it’s down right stupid.

You can rename the Halo .exe to a .exe of a game that is supported.
This is the only way for now and it does not work for all games.
(It would of course work better if the game engine of the game you want to play in vr is already supported, like the unreal engine 3 (Bioschock), or the source engine (Half life 1+2)…)

Why is that the only way? Is there a way I can add code? If not do they ever plan to make the software open source so more games will be supported more quickly?

    http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm

I want to make mmos supported with the software, along with a VR tredmil for the ultimate cardio experience.

xpadder would let me use a xbox controler and a add on keyboard module, to allow me to control the game.

There is not mutch to do to get it to work…
I am little confused that it aint native bacwards supported on OR drivers :/

Sad thing is there are many games that are working with VR only with DK1 and porting those to DK2 is unpossible like old Unreal demos…
And some other engines that cannot handle positional tracking at all :/

Even I have bought many games that are now unplayable because no positional tracking support… only DK1 support with motion tracking… Majosr sad thing is that all those WORK in DK2 just tracking is missing :/ so we only need little progran that can emulate DK2 motion tracking to DK1 motion tracking and lets forget whole position trackin stuff…
    It will work!

I have Unreal Gold working Vorpx. If someone could tell me where vorpx saved my ingame menu settings perhaps I can share them. I had to remove Dx10 and Dx11 that I had installed then install the fanpatch 227i from oldunreal, after that it was just and endurance test trying to see the games menus until I could get a proper resolution. once I got a vorpx view it was just a matter of tweaking vorpx ingame menu. the whole key was giving Unreal Gold dx9 support with that patch. I’ve also installed the super high textures also from oldunreal and all I can say is NICE!!!

Getting “configured device was not found”, driver/ovrservice/vorpx/computer restarts have no effect. Unity and Unreal Engine demos work, as does Elite: Dangerous. Running Win7 64bit, extended, Rift as main display, aero disabled, antivirus and firewall disabled, VorpX Conf set to DK2. SteamVR throws “HMD not known”, though it manages to light up the camera before timing out.

    Anyone else with similar problems?

I’m having the same problem after the update.
