    @ robertcrossland:

    Just a guess, but worth to check wherher maybe something has changed in the Unreal Engine config, i.e. it might start in DX12 mode per default. That’s really just a guess though. Do you experience this with any supported game or just the Unreal Engine?

    @ piperhawk:

    Whenever you experience hooking issues that suddenly appear after a vorpX update your first suspect should be your AV program. There haven’t been any changes to the hooking mechanism.

    Please try to exclude the vorpX program folder from your AV program. If you use anything else than Windows Defender, also consider uninstalling your AV program. Windows Defender will kick in instead.

    I would of thought this would be an easy one to make a profile as it uses the Unreal 4 engine but I’ve tried 4 different existing game profiles so far and they all lockup SteamVR.

    The game is still running and looking fine on the 2D screen. Also the headset still moves the view around on the 2D screen just the headset screen goes all black with circling ‘waiting’ or ‘loading’ type dots.

    I have to quit SteamVR then restarted it to reset SteamVR.

    Ideas what is the safe but good Unreal 4 profile to try?

    I think Gears5 is dx12, so despite being an Unreal Engine 4 game, no existing profile for that engine will work. You can try one of the four dx12 profiles that do exist (Death Stranding, Horizon Zero Dawn, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Cyberpunk2077).

    hey,

    if you’re looking to play this game with vorpx here’s some infos to get it working.

    for g3D use conarium profile copy and attach to swd7-win64-shipping.exe located at Xuan Yuan Sword VII\SWD7\Binaries\Win64.

    for z3D use halo : the master chief collection profile copy and attach exe the same way.

    you can event tweaks the engine.ini file if you wish and modify fov with unreal engine unlocker.

    here’s my copy/paste engine.ini located at Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\SOFTSTAR\SWD7\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor
    make sure to make it read only.

    Not in my book. Freespace 1 and 2 are closer to Xwing. This is more like… ugly ass 3-D outside of the ship… inside it looks somehow unreal. I dunno. When compared with the likes of Subnautica, this game’s VR sucks balls. It looks like that cheap, flat 3-D that early games used. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but it doesn’t look 3 dimensional. The cockpits are decent but XWA in VR and Rogue Squadron for Dolphin VR,set my bar extremely high. After playing that and seeing 3-D moving objects and then looking at this garbage and thinking (they had MILLIONS to work with), I’m super disappointed. Games made on the Gamecube 15 years ago work better than this pile of junk. If any of you have played Starfox for the GC in VR, you’ll know exactly what I mean. There are 3-D objects and there faux 3-D objects…this is the latter.

    today i did a new profile with Z3D/G3D working. looks for The Beast Inside Z3D/G3D steph09.

    open engine.ini located here C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\TheBeastInside\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor

    and add to the end the following adds (just copy/paste the content i provide here)

    [SystemSettings]
    r.Tonemapper.GrainQuantization=0
    r.Tonemapper.Quality=0
    r.SceneColorFringe.Max=0
    r.SceneColorFringeQuality=0
    r.MaxAnisotropy=16
    r.ViewDistanceScale=4
    foliage.LODDistanceScale=10
    grass.DensityScale=1.0
    r.SkeletalMeshLODBias=-2
    r.StaticMeshLODDistanceScale=0.01
    r.LensFlareQuality=0
    r.DefaultFeature.LensFlare=0
    r.ShadowQuality=3
    r.Shadow.CSM.MaxCascades=16
    r.Shadow.DistanceScale=2
    r.Shadow.MaxResolution=4096
    r.Shadow.MaxCSMResolution=4096
    r.Shadow.RadiusThreshold=0.01
    r.Shadow.TexelsPerPixel=10
    r.Shadow.CSM.TransitionScale=3.0
    r.MipMapLODBias=-2
    r.Shadow.CSMDepthBias=5

    i highly recommand to play this game in Z3D if you dont have an ampere card else be ready for slideshow with anything higher than 1080p and even with that res performance in g3D is abysmal.

    Z3D looks decently good tho !

    for fov, use unreal engine unlocker, amazing little tool which allow many tweak for ue4 games !

    enjoy !

    1. How to I bind edge peak to something like, say, the space button?

    2. Is there any way to force a game to run in 2D mode? Vorpx keeps trying to run it in 3D despite it not being supported. The game in question runs on Unreal Engine 4

    Hi everyone, so, Im trying to run a FNaF fangame called Final Nights 2 in the “zoomed in” vr mode, but every time I open it it immediately crashes. The game runs on Unreal engine 4, as does every other game in the series, but its the only one with this problem. I should also mention that the game opens Steam VR when i try to open it, but I uninstalled that and it still dosent work. Is there some official profile getting in its way? Can anybody help me?

    Is it possible to actually move the HUD on the XY axes? I found the right shader in Ace Combat 7 (Unreal Engine 4), and I can rescale the HUD correctly, but it would help if I could also move it.

    If 3D is working, that’s probably as far as it gets. Field of view (‘zoomed in’) is typically handled by automatic .ini tweaks in official Unreal Engine 4 profiles if possible for a game. These things are game specific and do not carry over when you create a user profile unfortunately, so for your custom profile you have to deal with FOV some other way. Typically the PC Gaming Wiki is a good source of information in that regard, but the Everspace 2 entry is still empty. Probably the game is too new.

    For now it seems you will have to rely on vorpX’s ‘Image Zoom’ option to deal with the matter. Simply lower the ‘Image Zoom’ value until the image doesn’t appear zoomed in anymore and that’s it. That way can you resolve a zoomed in view for pretty much any game within seconds. Not a perfect solution as setting the actual game FOV would be since it will introduce black bars above and below the image, but that’s clearly better than a too low FOV.

    Hi guys I just tried the Everspace 2 demo on Steam using the Conarium profile. I have the game working in Full VR with head tracking, but I feel to zoomed in and there is no DirectScan Option.

    Can anyone suggest a good Unreal profile that might work?

    Cheers
    PD.

    It looks like QUBE 2 uses Unreal 4, where as QUBE 1 used Unreal 3.

    Try copying an existing Unreal 4 game profile (Hellblade, Cronarium) and see if that works. It may still have some shadow glitches, but most Unreal 4 games should work 3D quite easily.

    Let us know how it works. I’ve got this on my wishlist, QUBE 1 was neat in vorpX.
