TheBaltParticipantAs i mentioned before i’ve tryed Alien Isolation on vorpX and it’s suck pretty bad. Then i’ve tryed free VR mod for that game and… it was outstanding – like the game was already wrote for VR – if you don’t believe me just check this out: https://github.com/Nibre/MotherVR/releases (for now i recommend 0.6.0 version cause 0.8.0 got some ugly bug with pressing the button all the time). But still on 0.6.0 it works very well.
Alien Isolation WAS developed for VR. It was a sideproject inside the development process while the DK2 was released. When Alien Isolation released on day 1 you could command line it to do VR with an Oculus DK2.
This is an entirely apples and bananas scenario, when you bring in games that are designed ground up for VR, which alien isolation specifically had a team building a VR version of the game while developing the actual game. It WAS built for VR – Vorpx is NEVER going to compare to native VR, if thats your barometer, then yeah, you wont get that experience out of Vorpx.
And honestly asking this to ‘work out of the box’ is just simply impossible. Vorpx is doing what these games were fundamentally not ‘built’ to do (which in the case of Alien Isolation, it was built for VR, thats why you found that good mod – its not a mod, theyre just skipping the command line stuff i had to do 5 years ago with the DK2)
So.. yeah, if youre basing it off of ‘it doesnt compare to REAL VR titles’… then no, Vorpx will never be what you want it to be.
If youre willing to say “hey playing dishonored 1 and 2 in full 3d, leaning around corners and everything sounds cool without motion controls – but i might have to fiddle with some settings for 20 minutes”… then youre a Vorpx user. If you dont want to have those kinds of game experiences, then yeah, its just not a program for you unfortunately.
I wish there was an easier way to do this stuff, but honestly, the tech here in vorpx is grade A compared to everything else on the market that even attempts to do what its doing. There have been others before, im not sure how long youve been in the VR communnity, but there were like 4 of these programs going around during DK2 days of trying to ‘turn old games’ in 3d vr games and Vorpx ended up being the best of the bunch that were trying it.. but this is all from like 4 years ago, if you werent around for all that then i can understand you not have the perspective of just how good vorpx is… cause i tried the alternatives.. they were not good. Vorpx works.. if youre willing to work with it. The others – they just didnt even have the basics down.. and thankfully Vorpx survived and we still getting updates :)
but if youre looking for a fun game anyhow – just tried walking dead saints and sinners.. its amazing! Go check out some vids of it if you get a chance, but totally worth a purchase, i think atleast

tormParticipantHi Balt – i sure believe it worked out for you – but i’m not that kind of user.
Honestly – when i paid $40 for a software i expect it to run “out of box” – and i don’t have to manage all this setting for every game.
As i mentioned before i’ve tryed Alien Isolation on vorpX and it’s suck pretty bad.
When i’ve started same game using vorpX i’ve got small like cinema window, everything was upscaled and controls wasn’t working to well. Probably i could tweak it a little to get better results but be honest – i will never get same results as with the FREE mod.
So i’m not telling that vorpX sucks and it is trash, but i believe it is not worth $40 – it should be free of charge to the time it doesn’t start to work properly.

in forum Technical Support
tormParticipantHello,
I’ve recently bought vorpX and as far as i’ve used it i’m pretty dissapointed.
I’ve tested 3 games right now:
– Aliens Isolation,
– SOMA
– Crysis Warhead. In Aliens Isolation and SOMA both games was in window in googles (just a 3D window in front of me) moreover both games got strange blur when i was looking around – pretty frustrating and gave me motion sickness (i’ve played a lot of games so far without this problem).
In Crysis Warhead i’ve also got some problems but this time with controler (i’ve used gamepad) which seems to not work from time to time (i couldn’t move sides sometimes or turn around).
I’m not sure maybe i’m doing something wrong but for $40 this software is pretty shitty…
Dec 5, 2019 at 12:28pm #190715In reply to: Halo Reach with VorpX
BeardoBenjoParticipantOkay I’ve got it to latch using the Alien Isolation profile, the options for Z adaptive, Z normal and G3D all appear within the Vorpx menus whilst playing the game now BUT there doesn’t seem to be any noticeable 3D effect regardless of which one I use.
The only noticeable change is a less than smooth juddering effect now when looking left or right with head tracking (possibly due to the attempted 3D rendering)
Dec 5, 2019 at 12:09pm #190714In reply to: Halo Reach with VorpX
BeardoBenjoParticipantI’ve been told that using the Alien Isolation profile and connecting that to the exe will allow for 3D rendering but I’m having a little trouble getting it to work so far. Vorpx keeps bypassing the profile I’ve created using the Alien Isolation profile and it just creates it’s own profile each time called MCC-WIN64-SHIPPING-WINSTORE.EXE
Trying to figure out a way to block Vorpx from doing that so that it can just hook using the copied A.I profile…
Jun 28, 2019 at 4:04pm #185345
rtoastParticipantI just picked up shadow warrior and shadow warrior 2. Im playing through the first one so i haven’t tried 2 yet, but the first one I’d say is comparable to Titanfall 2.
Other games worth checking out I’ve played through Far Cry 4 which worked great (some minor FOV issues during certain gameplay circumstances like getting into vehicles or using the grappling hook but still totally playable)
Serious Sam 3: BFE looks near native.
Also, on a side note unrelated to Vorpx, check out Dying Light, the devs themselves enabled VR support but unofficially, you just have to tweak so config settings and its basically native VR. Same with Alien Isolation, and theres a really great DOOM3 VR mod that enables full VR with motion clntrols and everything, but you need the DOOM 3 BFG edition to use the mod if i remember correctly.
Also, check out the new Prey (the old one too for that matter), I just finished that game its fantastic but the vorpx update that added support for it came out like a week after i finished the game so I haven’t tried it in VR yet
Edit: oh yea and Dishonored if you haven’t played that, it and its DLC have really good Vorpx support. No vorpx for the sequel yet so I’ve been holding off on playing it in the hopes it gets support in an update

GrocsParticipantJust as a FYI, the Mother VR mod for Alien Isolation works fine in VR.
I know something is just missing to make this work.
Jun 22, 2019 at 3:17am #185200Topic: Issues with VR in Skyrim and other games.
in forum Technical Support
GrocsParticipantHi all,
I picked vorpx up recently and have been playing around with it. Elsewhere in the forums someone talks about the VR not looking right and just showing a virtual screen that moves with the head tracking. That is happening to me too, even in Skyrim which is meant to natively work. I’ve also tried Alien Isolation, with the same results, or it crashes before it loads.
I won’t deny my setup is not the norm – running a 1060 GTX Nvidia card with Virtual Desktop on a Oculus Quest. I have provided exclusions for the virtual desktop app to stop voprx injecting into those, and instead inject into the game. Using SteamVR to load the games. I am also running vorpx as admin, as I have to run VD as admin as well.
Does anyone have perhaps a set of steps I should try? I’ve referred to all the starting help. Thanks for the assistance, much appreciated.

RJK_ParticipantPinball FX2
Probably the best Pinball game for PC ever. Huge ammount of (pay and demo) tables available, Fallout 4, Skyrim, Alien Isolation, Walking Dead, Star Wars and many others. Looking awesone with VorpX.
– optimized for Cinema Modes
– Lower 3D Strength when viewing table very close
– Profile available at the cloudSome screenshots speak for themselves.
Jun 14, 2019 at 12:42pm #185020In reply to: When will Total War series get supported
dellrifter22ParticipantIt’s possible Empire and Napoleon are dx9, I can’t remember. If the New games are dx11 (?) that could explain why they wouldn’t hook at all.
If you haven’t already, it might be worth trying the “Unity 5 Base Profile” which I believe hooks dx11. Pretty sure I used a unity variant for Napoleon.
After that you could try profiles from other common engines to try your luck. Unreal 4, Cryengine 4, maybe even Assassins Creed Unity and Life is Strange: Before the Storm (these have surprised me a few times). Alien Isolation is another I would try, as it is listed as being loosely based off the same Warscape engine.
I probably tried some 15+ profiles before I got Napoleon working. You don’t always get lucky, but I’ve been surprised how often you can get at least Z3D to work.

UnseenlegendParticipantI’m maybe still kind of idiot.
I use the pimax 5k+.
When i use alien isolation when i run on vr mode you still look at flat screen, but only very close to you.
And you can look around instead of using you’re mouse.
The image is not completely around youOr is this normal every unsuppported game?
Or im doing something wrong.Apr 23, 2019 at 9:38pm #183474Topic: problem with Vorpx about Gamepad and cameras

Hi all,
I picked vorpx up recently and have been playing around with it.

Pinball FX2
Probably the best Pinball game for PC ever. Huge ammount of (pay and demo) tables available, Fallout 4, Skyrim, Alien Isolation, Walking Dead, Star Wars and many others. Looking awesone with VorpX.
– optimized for Cinema Modes
– Lower 3D Strength when viewing table very close
– Profile available at the cloudSome screenshots speak for themselves.
