22-44 fps max of 90 despite low settings and 1800×1440 res. Crashes to desktop/VR home often. Anyone have luck with Deus Ex Mankind Divided? Rig in sig, 1080 ti.
I’ve seen Deus Ex HR mentioned here that it’s not bad in VorpX. However, despite all the success stories I’ve had with games I can’t get a good profile going for this one. Standard non-directors cut version on Steam. The performance is atrocious and this game isn’t all that demanding otherwise. No-matter the resolution or settings it’s never really running a good frame-rate. Anyone know what I’m doing wrong with this title?
That’s not quite as important anymore for modern games as it used to be. Most games these days use low latency mouse input with almost as little latency as memory scanner head tracking. The memory scanner is still quite a bit better for other reasons, but the advantage isn’t as huge with most newer games.

Nice post :-) I got few titles lined up:
– Skyrim SE
– Morrowind (pity it does not work with distant lands)
– GTA V
– Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
– Mafia
– Mafia II
– A Story About My Uncle (is surprisingly nice in vorpX)
– Giants: Citizen Kabuto (idem; this is a fantastic retro)
and I hoped also for some of my sims: Flight Sim World, Il-2 1946, Il-2 Cliffs of Dover Blitz and Rise of Flight… however unfortunately these do not work in 3D (but are fun also in 2D).
The question is – when will I get the time to give all these a shot? :-)

Please, Ralf, don’t remove the profile! Mankind Divided is one of my favorite games, i think in regards to presentation it is the best one of the Deus Ex games. I’d be heartbroken if i couldn’t play it with vorpX.
Just tested my DE:MD and it’s working fine. I can switch between G3D and Z3D no problem, both work.
I recall there being an issue needing to play exclusive fullscreen mode to get z-buffer working though. So try that again and the other tricks you mentioned in the post from last year here.
For what it’s worth: my brief test was using exclusive fullscreen mode, with Temp AA on, using my native 2560×1440. I switched to 4k to see if that broke anything, but it still worked Z3D.
I think the profile works great and should remain. In fact I was pleasantly surprised to see geometry added recently – considering it was Z3D only even before Ralf felt it not worthwhile to spend more time on it. I’m glad though, it’s working nicely on my new card.
Hi apollon, Ralf mentioned recently that he is working on a way to unlock default profile exe’s, it’s just not quite ready yet. He wants to make sure the default profiles can be easily and safely restored should we mess something up.
In the meantime, one thing you could try is using the vorpX desktop viewer to play in SBS. It has basically the same options as the Tomb Raider profile, you’ll just need to adjust the settings a bit to suit your needs.
To get desktop viewer to work for me, I right click on the vorpX icon of system tray (by the clock) and click start viewer (works best if you only have one monitor setup). Once the viewer is displayed in my headset, I then Pause Watcher in vorpX tray so it will not attempt to hook DXMD.exe. Then proceed to launch Deus Ex as normal.
Once in game you can pull the vorpX delete menu and set set Stereo Type to Side by Side on the Image settings page. Now all you’ll need to do is adjust the size of the cinema screen to your liking.
Hope this helps for now.
Hi Ralf,
is it possible to disable default profile?
I searched the forum and similar questions were asked in the past with the reply that it was not possible. Has anything changed in this regard?
The thing is – I want to try the Deux Ex Mankind Divided in its native SBS mode. The default profile does not allow SBS. However, I want to use a user profile for Shadow of the Tomb Rider from dellrifter22 that can work with native SBS.
The Deus Ex Mankind Divided exe cannot be reassigned to another profile and the DXMD.exe cannot be deleted from the default profile.
If renamed, the game does not start (via Steam).
Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
Milan
Deus Ex Mankind Divided has been looking great in G3D by the way. You can pick it up on steam this weekend for $5.
Only bug I’ve noticed is with Jensen’s beard floating off model in 3rd person and dialogue. Just mentioning it in case it’s an easy shader fix simply overlooked. Otherwise looks great.
This is going to sound lame, lol, cause I had such big plans! Prey! Deus Ex: Mankind Divided! And so many others (Dragon Age 2 and 3!). But I actually got stuck playing Skyrim. I decided I needed to get back and actually play through some of the other stories in the game (Dawnguard, etc.), and I have been playing this for weeks now. VorpX is so awesome.
Thanks for sharing this, raidouk3. I’ve had Metro 1 and 2 on my que for VorpX as well! I’ll get to them eventually (I played them flat, but how can I resist playing them in VorpX! lol). Are you looking forward to the third installment?
Great update,Prey in G3D is gorgeous.
Very nice work here as always.
You have practically covered all the games i want to play with this update.( Batman ,prey , DEus ex,shadow of mordor and mass effect).
The only missing now (for me) is dishonored 2 ;
Again BRAVO RALF!!!
yeahhhhhh!!! PREY AND DEUS EX MANKIND G3D!
and andromeda? not g3d for frostbite 3?
I have a secret arrangement with them. This way you are forced to stockpile games without knowing which ones will be supported eventually.
Seriously: the plan was to get vorpX 19.1.0 ready before Christmas, but dealing with some recent SteamVR changes cost me quite a bit of time. Maybe, but really just maybe I feel confident enough to release it on Chrismas eve. Don’t count on it though, early January is more likely.
The next release will primarily be about a DX11 rewrite that allows G3D for more DX11/11.1 games that were Z3D only before, not too many new profiles. The most interesting AA/AAA games with major changes (either new or Z3D only before) currently on sale at Steam are probably: Prey, Batman: Arkham Knight, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Farming Simulator 2019, Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor, Elex, The Surge.
If you are new to vorpX, you probably want to hop right into the action instead of learning how to configure vorpX. The list below contains first person games that work with litlle to no configuration in ‘Full VR’ due to vorpX’s DirectVR functionality, which can configure important things like field of view, head tracking or resolution automatically.
For third person games that are usually played best in immersive screen or cinema mode not much configuration is required in general, so this list focuses on first person ‘Full VR’ games that can be a little harder to configure without DirectVR.
If you are stuck, make sure to check the ‘Essential Hints Guide’ and the ‘Quick Reference’ in the help. They help you understand a few basic concepts.

So since the last update, Mankind Divided no longer shows in 3D at all. I re-imported the profile, etc, but still nothing.
If this is a simple profile fix, any chance you could upload a new one for this?
And a couple of observations:
1) I’ve been noticing (sometime over the last 2 updates) that in cinema mode, there is a lot more screen judder when you move your head. I even upgraded to a 1080ti recently, and the judder is worse than ever. If I keep my head still, games are still very playable, but its weird because it was never there before. I think something in the last few updates caused this. Its not terrible, just noticable, and only on head movement. The framerates of the games seem great.
2) Far cry 5 used to have 3d as well, and now does not. I know its not officially supported, but I thought I’d mention it in case it helps with your troubleshooting.
