In several ways the best solution to your issue would be switching to the original DX9 Bioshock, for which vorpX provides better DirectVR support.

If you only have the remastered version:

Sounds like something is getting severely in the way if not even a hook helper helps. Try to disable everything you may have running in the background that potentially also hooks into games. E.g. any kind GPU utility, chat apps and generally everything that show overlays in game.

Version alpha 3 is now available for download with the following changes:

    • Pitch (look up/down) auto-leveling added. If you prefer to play with unlocked pitch, you can disable this on the DirectVR page of the ingame menu.
    • Keyboard shortcut for switching between G3D and Z3D (ALT+K).

Switching between AFR 3D and Z3D will be possible with the default vorpX G3D/Z3D hotkey in the next release (ALT+K).

Also pitch (look up/down) auto leveling will be available with the next release. If you prefer to play without, you’ll be able to disable it on the DirectVR page of the vorpX menu. Was a bit more complicated here than it normally is with DirectVR games, but now it’s finally working without unwanted side effects.

    @FonzD86
I’m currently playing this game on a i7-8700, 16GB RAM, GTX1070Ti with a Valve Index (90Hz refresh, Motion Smoothing On). I’m not experiencing your issues with this game, but I have experienced similar issues with Outlast (where it supposedly has DirectVR available, but not for myself).
Aside from having to lower Image Zoom to its lowest setting (0.40), while in FullVR/Pixel 1:1, in order to get a stable image, the graphics for Bioshock Infinite have been absolutely gorgeous.

With regards to your inverted head tracking, one of the sub-menus within Vorpx deals with HMD tracking (if memory serves), and I believe there are a couple options where you can invert the x/y axis (useful if no DirectVR is available).
    Ralf would know for sure.
Best of luck with B:I. I hope it works out for you.

    @ Lawrence:

Please try to reset everything to default by reinstalling the mod. Might be related to you tinkering with Zoom/FOV settings. Please don’t. Also as always: if you have other mods installed, try without. If you have a mod installed that affects the camera in any way, it may (probably will) break things.

    @ drowhunter:

My first shot at a decent pitch lock was a miss yesterday unfortunatly. I’d rather do that by directly manipulating the camera than by messing with input. That’s always better. Unfortunately more complex in case of this mod than it is for games where rotation is handled via the DirectVR memory scanner. I’ll try again later and if all fails I’ll check how well messing with input works.

    @ all:

Good news re head aiming for ADS: I was able to crack that one earlier today. I’ll do a few more tests and some finetuning and upload an update with head aim ADS Sunday.

A few random things I’ve found while dialing in all the settings to play using a gamepad and DirectVR with a Reverb G2, in case any of this helps to reduce the set-up time for others:

    1. In game settings, turn off aim assist to eliminate bad jitters when in combat.

    2. The HUD needs to be set to 100% or there are icons floating everywhere not attached to the in-game objects. Then the HUD is mostly out of my FOV so I have to use edge-peek to check the mini-map, etc.

    3. In-game controller settings I reduce vertical sensitivity to minimum (=1), so I can turn with the right-stick and use my head to look up and down. But many times the game takes control of the camera to point your eyes down to look at some object of interest, and leaves you looking down at an angle, so you have to be able to pan your view back to horizontal quite often. It would be nice to have a button to “reset view to horizon”.

    4. It’s hard to use hacking skills, as I have to use edge-peek to see the HUD, then when I move my head to read the HUD I’m no longer aiming at the in-game device I’m trying to hack. It would be really useful if there was an option to toggle off headset aiming while using edge peek, so I could move my head to look around at my HUD and control the aim reticle only with the controller joystick.

    5. With RTX3080 I’m using “great” resolution, and I found I could turn the graphics settings mostly up to high, and with ray-tracing turned on, without much change to framerate. But ray-traced lighting caused the windshield of my car to sometimes become opaque so I turned off lighting but kept reflections and shadows.

    6. I have DLSS set to “auto” so I’m not sure if it’s doing anything, or helping?

    7. In vorpX settings, my “cap framerate” has to be turned on and set to 66 or 75%. If it’s turned off, or set any lower, then everything gets very jumpy. Perhaps related to that, in-game video settings I have monitor vsync set to 60 Hz. This combination runs pretty smooth, but if I change either of those settings it’s immediately unplayable.

    8. Somethings seems broken in the inventory screens? I think when you hover over a new weapon, it’s supposed to pop up stats, and compare with your currently equipped weapon? None of that happens for me. Once when I first open my inventory, when I hover over a weapon, 2 text boxes pop up, but one box is only visible to my left eye, and the other to my right eye — I can close one eye at a time to try to read them. But if I move the cursor then the pop-up boxes disappear, and never reappear for that or any other weapon in my inventory. <shrug>

That’s unrelated. A bit confusing, but these entries are related to the DirectVR memory scannner, a feature of the regular vorpX that is used in some other games, but not in the mod.

Something I didn’t mention before: the mod only works corectly with the current Cyberpunk 2077 version (1.31), not with older versions.

If that also is not your issue, please send your [User]\AppData\Temp\vorpX.log file via mail to support at vorpx com. I’d like to check wehther it shows anything unusual in respect to head tracking.

No change after deleting the plugins folder and reinstalling.

One more things that come to mind:

going through the vorpX settings under DirectVR it says:
    head tracking rotation unavailable
    head tracking position: unavailable

With this mod you can get 10-20fps, but i have detected that a restart of the game every 60 minutes has the same effect, but without lower the graphic settings. I don’t know why is this not fixed by CD Project after one year of patches, but the performance of the game drops after playing a while and a Restart fixes that completely from 40fps back to 60fps.

With this mod can those, who have to run the game in Z3D get a few fps in addition to a Restart every hour to play the game in DirectVR 3D, with noticeable lower graphics.

pitch lock: I guess I’ll add the usual DirectVR tracking pitch option to the mod.

Thanks, yes this made me feel so bad when the pitch was off. I’d personally just lock it.

As for the framerate for smooth turning I’ll try that again. It seems I had the same misunderstanding in GTAV.

For smooth turning with the gamestick you have to make sure that the second number in the vorpX FPS counter (ALT+F) shows the refresh rate of your headset. vorpX can factor in mouse and stick rotaton into the alternate eye frame interpolation, but that only works if the headset thread runs at full speed. Alternatively switch to Z3D, which doesn’t involve alternate eye rendering.

pitch lock: I guess I’ll add the usual DirectVR tracking pitch option to the mod. Impossible to meet everyones preferences in that respect apparently. I thought the 1/3 sensitivity would be good compromise that everyone can agree on, but apparently not.

it’s much better than in RDR2, which i played last week in native openxr. But specially while driving fast and wild the headtracking is stuttering. If i climb a tower and run the stairs around the tower to the top it is stuttering. I run the game with 90hz Reverb G2 and 66% frame cap (fluidsync) with 55-60fps but in wild action the headtracking is stuttering and makes me ill although the fps are 55-60fps. I have set judder protection head tracking that helps, but not enough. On foot if i rotate with the controller, there is a black screen for a few milliseconds, when i stop the rotation.

But all in all, if i ignore the technical limitations Antialiasing and a little bit more stuttering than in older games, it’s great adventure to play it in DirectVR 3D with all your cool sub-mods integrated to make it comfortable.

Do you use Z3D normal ? That is fake 3D, it looks better and the performance is great, but the DirectVR 3D is the real VR Mode. In DirectVR 3D you can feel the world, the traffic and the NPC’s are “living”. Give it a chance !
