In reply to: Binding VR keys

There currently is a bug that makes mapping the keys impossible. Appears they get mapped but reset to the old value immediately after that… The same bug applies to the gamepad mapping.

This will get fixed in the next update.

I believe that somewhere (either in the online help or in the troubleshooting thread)m that Ralf mentions you may need to reassign the mouse wheel or middle mouse button if the game in question uses these keys.

Hi Ralf, the VR keys are a great idea but can you tell me exactly how to bind them in the Vorpx menu. I can’t see how to give a description and specify the key.

Yes, sir. I am the same person. I just woke, up and it looks like the code did arrive this time approximately 8 hours ago. It went directly to my inbox. I’ve been keeping an eye on the spam folder and haven’t seen anything. Badservo.com is a google-apps domain, so my hosting platform is GMail. Very strange that the two previous attempts were lost in the ether without so much as a bounceback.

I’m a Systems Administrator by trade, so I certainly understand that under heavy load (as you’ve no doubt been experiencing) a mail transfer agent can do some wonky stuff occasionally.

Regardless of the underlying issue, thanks for your dedication in getting the keys out to me and others. I was hesitant to ask in the forums. I didn’t want to be “that guy” complaining, but in retrospect, I suppose it’s a good thing I mentioned it.

    Thanks for this quick response!
Ok, setting the vorpX option “handle gamepad internally” and disabling the controller in the ingame menu brings headtracking to run. Thank you!

Up to now I was not able to map the right keys to the gamepad. I´m not able to change any key bindings in vorpX´s gamepad menu. I tried to klick the respective buttons and pressed the associated button at the gamepad but nothing seems to happen. Have I overlooked something?

@ Steve : That is already possible. Just checkout the controller mapping mapping page in the in-game menu, you can then map the middle-mouse button to any gamepad button, inkl SHIFT/ALT Modifiers (XBox 360 Pad needed). I usually use the Thumbstick buttons for EdgePeek/VR-Hotkeys . That might even be pre-configured.

Make sure that “Handle Gamepads internally” is ON for this to work

I second that, customizeable keys would be a real help, especially for games like Skyrim, Fallout etc., which have dozens of keys to map actions to. There I usually use the middle mouse button for other things, and it´s really hard to change a setup, which you have come accustomed to over years.

I’ve been loving Vorpx thus far, got seriously into the game and had a serious feeling of vertigo when I fell of a mountain in Skyrim. Seems to work fine with most games I’ve tried. I do have one request and that’s user configurable in-game hot keys. I don’t like the middle mouse mouse button for edge peak. Edge peak itself is a kick ass feature. I would just rather use a keyboard button to active it.
