Another way to circumvent the annoying rift when set as primary display mode would be to get a utility to map hotkeys to launch your games/apps…its not perfect but an option.

Here you will find a hotkey utility to make it easier to toggle primary display between rift and regular monitor and another hotkey to toggle disabling and re-enabling your secondary display.

I personally still use the peek into rift display to launch my games after.

    Hey Folks, Ralf especially,

I just wanted to know how that controller emulation works for you people.
I’m still fiddling around, trying to get Skyrim to work with Vorpx – I’d like to play with controller since at times its hard to find the right keys on keyboard.

    What I noticed is:
    – (game issue) Native Xbox360 support in skyrim ON — No headtracking (VorpX emulates mouse movement via headtracking and enabling 360 seems to disable the mouse)

    – (VorpX issue) the movement controls are horrid with the “internal controller handling”. Touching the left stick ever so gently makes you run half a mile into that direction at a fixed speed.

    – (VorpX issue) the standard binds for Xbox360 controller inside VorpX are, well, wrong.
Example: it says (“Left Stick” = S|MouseM) , but hitting it actually hits ESC and brings up the main menu.
I tried rebinding the “Left Stick” to “LCTRL” (for sneaking) – hit Save & Close, but still it seems to emulate pressing ESC

What’s your experience with the emulated gamepad stuff?
Is it just mine that’s crapping out, or is it something that someone should look into in future VorpX updates?

Nice find, indeed it looks great! There is also a FOV changer for this one you can get at http://www.mapmodnews.com/article.php/Modern-Warfare-3-FoV-Changer-MP which goes up to 100 fov so you can get things a more realistic size at full scale and adjust it in game with + & – keys to fine tune it.

In general I wonder if for future vorpx versions the max separation strength could be increased beyond the “5” level for games where the fov is locked at a low level? It seems like when that is the case I can’t push the depth out far enough to get the perspective squared up.

I suppose this is still Skyrim related? You should disable the controller in the Skyrim options. When a gamepad is active in Skyrim (and other Bethesda games), head tracking does not work.

vorpX has its own gamepad emulation that takes over when the gamepad is disabled in Skyrim. In this mode the right stick controls the vorpX cursor in the vorpX ingame menu, that is by design. You can remap keys to your liking in the vorpX ingame menus.

This almost certainly is some input device issue. Are you able to use the vorpX ingame menu ([DEL]) despite this problem with either your mouse or the cursor keys and the [Enter]-key?

If you can, checking the ‘Handle gamepads internally’ setting on the input page of the ingame menu may be woth a try. No promises, but that’s the only gamepad related setting vorpX has, so it’s worth checking.

Was just about to suggest that about the profile. Beat me to it. The Windows Key + shift key + right or left arrow keys will move your open windows from screen to screen….alt + tab will cycle through your windows.

Even if I send the window over there, for example “Minecraft in VR”.
Then the “Alt + Tab” doesen’t switch window and when I do it manually minecraft is not there….

You can also navigate and use the ingame menu with the cursor keys and [ENTER].

I have own all mentioned games in Steam. So there is no problem with that. Also I used F keys only in games which VorpX configuration said they are supported. So I made a test. I tried to bind keys for Mirrors Edge according to this proceed: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=138177233. But my num case doesn’t change the FOV. Minimal I wasn’t see the difference in in-game menu. So maybe I have a problem which is not connected with VorpX.

The F-Keys only work in the specific game that is mentioned in the game settings optimizer. This is not a global setting. It has to be done game by game. More games will be added to the optimizer over time.

Other methods to enhance the FOV or deal with issue otherwise are covered in the “How to get the most out of vorpX guide” in the documentaion and in the sticky above with the same title. In Geometry 3D you can use the 3D FOV Enhancement in the vorpX ingame menu.

One general hint: The game settings optimizer may not work with, let’s say, unofficial versions of a game.

I tried to set FOV according to advice. I used F keys to do that (according to VorpX configuration settings for a game), but it doesn’t work. Also I had FOV slider set to max in every game which enables it. But the result is still the same. And there is no difference between changing from VorpX FOV and in-game FOV so it seems like it is never applied. Obviously I missing something. When exactly I can use F keys after game starts?

I’m trying to get Mass Effect 3 working with vorpx and the oculus rift.

I have the game on origin, and I am running it in offline mode.

Here are the issues I’m running into:

    1. While in the ME3 game I can not hit the Delete key to bring up the in game vorpx controls.

    2. The menus are extremely hard to use.
    – I do not see a mouse cursor, and it constantly resets it’s position.
    – If I manage to get lucky and find a button with the hidden mouse cursor before it resets its position, I can click it to navigate the menu. But some of them are extremely hard to find (the confirm dialogs are near impossible for me).
    – I can use the arrow keys to navigate (the game doesn’t seem to support keyboard ability to select an option though).

    Any advice?

@ Dino Dad : The 48hrs. are just a safety margin. Usually keys are sent within an hour. In the worst case it can take a few hours until your key arrives.

If you are already waiting longer than a few hours, please check whether you have sent us your ‘Request Code’, like mentioned in the license dialog. This code is required to create your key.

If you have questions, please send an e-mail to support |at| vorpx com .

@ l3eerme: Sorry for the inconvenience. 48hrs. is a sefety margin, usually it takes less than an hour. You should have your key in the meantime.

@ all: Although we do the best we can to send out the keys as fast as possible, in the worst case it can take a few hours until your key arrives. Please be patient, thanks. If you have questions, please send an e-mail to support |at| vorpx com .
