Ralph said me metro works fine in G3D with base version without DX12. I’ll try later. If you have Enhanced edition, you can duplicate the Exe, rename it (for exemple Metro DX12) and play the game without profile.
The profile “Enhanced Edition” launch the game, but with no 3D for me :(
Some people say it worked for them.

It’s still very impressive in full VR without 3D with very high resolution (4.5k), raytracing and no DLSS (75-80 FPS at the Volga with RTX 4090). You HAVE TO RAISE FOV by editing ini files and I’m not sure 4:3 is available for this game (it didn’t work for me but given there is no real HUD it doesn’t matter a lot, except for performance).

Edit about Quest 3 : I managed to launch VorpX (Death Stranding and Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition). I had to use both Wifi and Airlink (and I don’t want to). I’ll retry with the cable. Maybe I should buy a non official cable. I suppose a good cable is really needed to get a beautiful image. I read G2 is still better than Quest 3 anyway.

Wanted to add an edit but unable I guess? Anyway, I got RE7 to work by going into the Beta Branch and using the “older” DX11 branch instead of the newer DX12 one that auto-installs. I should have clarified the DX version. Also, I was using the DX12 “Enhanced” version of Metro Exodus. I also deleted that and installed the older DX11 version. That STILL would not work on the Epic Store. Just wouldn’t hook at all. Maybe there’s been an update to the Epic store or the game? Unsure. Just wouldn’t hook for me. On a solid note, getting RE7 DX11 version to work was interesting. I’ll be honest, I tried a VR MOD earlier in the week before getting Vorpx and I think the MOD actually worked better, included my actual arms and whatnot. Lighting was a little wonky but seemed to perform better for me.

I haven’t been wowed by Vorpx yet. I’ll obviously try a bunch more games and see what I can get to happen with the Q3. I know no game that is non-vr will probably be perfect but after watching so many videos on different games I was expecting a much better experience out of the gate. I will say the Q3 is fantastic for VR made games though. NMS is awesome as is the standard Lone Echo, Into the Radius, etc.

I’ve been working on this for close to 5 hours now. I tried to get Vorpx to work with RE7 in Steam and it just hangs, takes forever. Ends up bringing up the box that asks if you want a hook helper, do nothing, quit program, etc.

Let me make one thing extremely clear. Bringing up Task Manager I have ZERO background apps running. ONLY mandatory systems. I even shut down my ICU software and my GHub software just to be safe.

I’ve tried hook helpers, running in admin mode, etc. Nothing works. I’ve uninstalled, rebooted and tried everything I know to do and Vorpx just won’t hook. That was about 2 hours of my time.

Then I tried to go on over to the Epic Store and try my hand at Metro Exodus. Again, over an hour of NOT hooking.

I have the Quest (Meta) program running (mandatory for Quest 3) and besides Steam or Epic nothing else. No Local or Cloud profiles work. I don’t get it. I’m not dumb. I’ve been building and maintaining personal computers for 30 years. Vorpx just will NOT work on my system.

System build is: Asus ROG STRIX Z590-E Gaming mobo
    Intel Core i9-10900K
    32GB G.Skill Ripjaw DDR4
    Geforce RTX 3080
    Win10
Logitech G910 Lightsync RGB gaming keyboard
    Logitech G502 mouse
    Logitech Z5500 550W 5.1 surround
    Thermaltake View 91 Super Tower
    Corsair H150i Elite Cooler
    Corsair 950W Silent Runner PSU

Any help would be appreciated as of right now I’m feeling I just dropped $40 USD on something that won’t work. I’m getting ready to try my hand at Metro 2033 to see if that will work but I’m not holding my breath at this point. Thank you.

    Hi team,

Just seeing if anyone is experiencing any issues with Metro Last Light Steam. I recall this working flawlessly when I tried it a couple of years back. Decided to give it a whirl on my Quest 3 and the game appears to freeze/crash on startup. I’m on Win11. Tried running vorpx as admin, as well as installing the helpers and using the alternative hooking method. Still no love. Did Metro get an update that broke it?

I am playing Metro 2033 with VorpX in immersive screen mode, and I am blown away. It’s so good… MOSTLY. Why do I say mostly? Because for some reason the screen itself is just too high, and I can’t find any options to change that. A high screen basically means I have to play with my head looking more up than what my default, comfortable position is. It’s immersion breaking and over time it just hurts (because not only you have to force your head to face up, you are forcing your head to face up with a brick attached to your head).

TLDR, I want to move the immersive screen down. How do I do that?

Fallout 4 VR with Gingas VR mod and Wabbajack was extremely easy to install. It took time to set up but looked fantastic. You just follow the guide and video to the letter and it works. I played it a couple of year ago. You need the regular Fallout 4 and the DLCs to get it to work. I think there has been a few recent upgrades to the mods and added into wabbajack so it should be even better.
I find standing much more immersive, though I loved games like bioshock series and metro series using Vorpx and an Xbox controller sitting downs so I can imagine using Fallout 4 and Vorpx will be pretty neat as well, especially with graphics mods.

I agree, just upgraded my PC from an rtx 2070 and 2700x CPU to rtx 4070 Ti and 7800x3d and the metro exodus with G3D and DirectVR is amazing, ultra all the way.
I can’t get the Xbox one controller to work for opening doors/boxes it just flashes between X and E on the long press, the E short press works fine, but think this is a longstanding problem with Metro Exodus. I also need to find a way to get r mapped onto the controller as getting the gun pump accessed in a hurry via the keyboard is a pain. Also turning the map over without having to use the mouse key would be nice.

I tried the enhanced edition (I copied the MetroExodus file in steam folder and renamed it MetroExodus1 and made a shortcut to it on the desktop) first as my son will play flat screen and loves Ray Tracing. He uses it on Minecraft which he also loves.
The 3d effect is severely lacking in the enhanced version and the standard version knocks it out of the park.
I loved the first 2 games in Vorpx and now my PC can handle this one I think it is my favourite game of the series.
Thanks for all your hard work Ralf.

I applied the local profile for Black Ops. When I launch the game in Airlink from my Quest 2, it simply launches in my monitor. I am not using SteamVr as Oculus runtime should just bypass it.

I have my OpenXr environment set to Oculus and am also using Oculus in Vorpx config.

I was able to launch Metro Last Light without any issues, so it seems like a game specific issue. Does anyone have a solution to this issue?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but from what I understand, judder (I mean VorpX screen moving and jumping anormaly when I turn my head) is caused by unstable framerate, not by weak framerate.

I think that even if my i9 computer is more powerful and make more fps, framerate is less stable, so there is more judder.

    Is it possible ?

When I play FPS game like metro it’s harder to see and it happens less, but with Diablo IV, without profile, or with Desktop Viewer, Headset framerate is sometimes below 90, and game/desktop framerate is moving a lot.

Hooking issues with multiple games almost always are caused by someting getting in the way that also hooks into games and causes a conflict with vorpX. The trouble shooting guide on top of this sub forum has more details on the matter.

Also some games can’t be hooked due to anticheat measures or similar blocking mechanisms. Metro Exodus should definitely work though, not sure about Diablo 4, haven’t tried that so far.

I just installed a new PC (Alienware Aurora R15, same than the last one, but with a i9 13900KF instead of i7), and VorpX doesn’t hook on Diablo IV and Metro Exodus (even with Hook Helper or alternate hooking). I really don’t see why. Usually I don’t have this kind of problems, and it worked with the i7 version.

    Hogwart’s Legacy hook.

I checked the option “Add predefined resolution above 4k and it works. I can play Metro Exodus with raytracing and ultra high resolution (but without Z3D for now…maybe there is a profile that could work).
There is a trick I think. You must set the desktop to the right resolution to not get sort of windowed in vorpX (with black background).

    @CrunchyGlass :
I tried in windowed mode by editing ini file. It launch the game but the resolution is still locked.

I think that, in the virtual monitor, Metro Exodus (and maybe other games), think that the monitor is 5000×1400 (or something like that), even if I set the desktop resolution on another value with Windows 11 options. Is there options to set in VorpX Config ?

Hogwart Legacy doesn’t launch in virtual monitor, probably for the same resolution problem.

If I launch enhanced edition after setting DirectX11 in Metro graphics menu, it use the official profile, and G3D works, but I can’t access VorpX menu (it’s the first time I encounter that).

If I launch the old version of Metro Exodus as you suggest, I will have the menu ?
I never use DirectVR. Don’t know exactly how it works but the first game I tried was Bioshock Infinite, and DirectVR didn’t give me good results. By adjusting resolution, FOV, ini files, etc. I managed to have native-like VR experience (I noticed no difference with Subnautica Below Zero native), but It took me a while to understand.

But after the first game, you understand you juste have to set high 4:3 resolution, image Zoom at the border of your FOV, game FOV at very large, Clarity FX, 3D parameters if possible, HUD if possible, head tracking speed if needed, and you get a very good experience in every game that allow you to modify these parameters.

VorpX has a mixed reputation, but it’s probably the best program i ever bought. Bioshock serie was incredible with it.

Metro Exodus is in my opinion one the best looking game (Moscou and Volga levels), so I would like to do it with Raytracing (my first try is already impressive in 4k with ultra graphics). But I’ll try both (because it’s true that G3D can be very impressive).

Metro let you choose FOV in ini file and HUD is minimalist so I just have the problem with resolution and Image Zoom (zoom is generaly too high for my headset in every game).

Try the regular Metro Exodus. That one has an official profile with both G3D and Z3D support, also automatic FOV adjustment, better head tracking via the DirectVR memory scanner and other DirectVR features. As far as vorpX is concerned the enhanced version is pretty much a ‘dehanced’ version actually. ;)
