I purchased VorpX earlier today, and I cannot get it to work with any games. None. No matter what troubleshooting I attempt, nothing works. The tray icon is visible, and I appear to be able to configure settings within it, but it doesn’t hook into ANY game I try. When I start Skyrim, for instance, whether through Steam or a VorpX shortcut, it just displays regularly. I’m not sure what else I am supposed to do. The Oculus works fine, as I can play any natively supported games without any issue.
“”Do you start vorpX Control with any parameter? Normally this cannot happen when it is started via its default, unaltered start menu entry, very odd.
You could try to uninstall and then reinstall vorpX to make sure the start menu entry is the one that vorpX originally created. The Web installer will automatically fetch the new version.
Hope that helps,
Ralf

Hi Ralf, I am having trouble getting battlefield 4 to start in vorpx mode. I have tried making a vorpx shortcut on my desktop and launching the bf4_x86 version and starting in offline mode and I have no anti-virus and its not in my excluded programs list. so far everything with vorpx has launched fine on my rig so i don’t know if I am just missing something obvious. any help would be much appreciated. Thanks:)

Hi Guys,
Unfortunately there was a small database problem earlier, a few recently opened topics may have been lost as a result of this.
If you opened a topic in the last 24hrs. or so and can’t see it now, please ask your question again.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Z-Buffer 3D has a weaker 3D-effect then Geometry 3D, especially in the foreground of the scene. That’s the price for being twice as fast.
It works best in wide open spaces, for example in games like Skyrim or Crysis, where it can even look better than Geometry 3D in regard to overall scene depth. It’s not so great in smaller spaces where it can look a bit flat sometimes.
You can find a comparison between both methods here: https://www.vorpx.com/more-headtracking-z-buffer-vs-geometry-3d/
Hope that helps.
Hi phillzilla,
Installing the latest DirectX-version should solve your issue. you can get it directly from Microsoft:

Hope that helps,

Hi,
Skyrim doesn’t seem to detect vorpx. I load up vorpControl.exe, then load Skyrim on my steam account, the display doesn’t change to the oculus ‘goggle’ vision, just the regular desktop display.
I’ve also tried right clicking on vorpx in my desktop trap and clicking ‘create desktop shortcut’, navigating to skyrim in the steam directory and adding the ‘tesv.exe’. But when I run that, I get a:
“The program can’t start because d3dx10_43.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.”
This message only pops up when vorpx is running. I can click okay, and then the game loads, but does not render the oculus ‘goggle’ vision.
When I exit vorpx and play skyrim regular this message does not pop up.
I have tried re-installing skyrim but that doesn’t seem to fix it.
I have disabled AVG, I don’t have any scanners, and have exited Skype. I also don’t have any mods on skyrim.
I’ve also tried Morrowind, and Dear Esther, which all have the same problem.
Any thoughts on how I can fix this?
Thanks for any help!
You can adjust the Separation to your liking if you want, nothing wrong with that. In some games (including Skyrim) it’s currently a bit too high to give a realistic sense of scale per default, so it might make sense to set it lower until this is fixed.
The IPD usually should not be touched though once it is calibrated. It’s quite important to have this set right to avoid eye strain while using the Rift over a longer time. Calibrating it with the Oculus utility is the best way to do this.
yeah i was trying to determine this myself, I relazied if i set the ey distance in game to 0, i get text centered but the in game depth and image is not as 3d anymore so ill mess around with it,
when I use a oculus profile will it automaticly set the IPD in game for me or do i need to do a in game calibration? I ask because the in game eye distance is set to 100.
If you refer to certain text overlays in Skyrim in Geometry 3D mode, that’s most likely not an IPD issue. It’s a small glitch in vorpX that might be fixed later. If only the text looks wrong, but the image itself looks OK, you shouldn’t change anything.
But you can if you want: you don’t have to use an Oculus profile at all. Simply select ‘Do not use an Oculus Profile’ in the vorpX Configuration. After doing so you can manually change your IPD, either in the config window, or directly in-game on the display page of the in-game menu. vorpX also has its own calibration routine, which can be launched from the in-game menu.
Hope that hepls.
You need no mod to use Skyrim with vorpX.
You can use most mods of course. But in your case it sounds best to first try without any mods installed.
Hi Steampunkgears,
not sure what might be the issue here. Did you try with a clean and unmodded install of Skyrim? Skyrim is not known to cause issues normally. The Script Extender that is requested on that page might cause issues for example (although it seems to work in general).
One general thing you could try is to disable your virus scanner temporarily and see whether that helps. There might be a conflict between its memory protection and the way vorpX hooks into games.
If you haven’t done so before, please also take a look at the trouble shooting sticky.
Hey all,
I recieved my oculus rift yesterday and proceeded to use the steps to get it working for skyrim on
This morning I was able to register my vorpx and get it to show up on my task bar. After reading much into the forums I removed my d3d9.dll and ive even removed other files that were the result from yesterdays results from that website.
Once I did this i get nothing when i boot up skyrim, just a black screen. after replacing those dll’s I can boot up like I did and mess around with the oculus but thats it. i do not get the vorpx control or in game menu when i press del

And please no double posts, asking a question in one thread should be enough. Thank you.
