I have used vorpx for almost 3 years. Past year havent touched it.

Reinstalled yesterday and attempted to play some games.
I could get it to hook (outer worlds 2 in this case) but when i pull up the menu it says
“3D Reconstruction [Off]” with arrows next to it. This is what enables geometry/z 3d etc…

In the past ive had no problems turning on immersive mode, full VR mode etc… I can still select these, but none of them turn 3D render/3d reconstruction on. it remains off.

Any insight? Ive tried fullscreen mode for the game, and 2 different titles. They both load into vorpx and go into immersive “theater” mode, but no 3D.

    Help please?

You just make it harder for yourself that way. I mean, I perfectly get the love for tinkering with stuff, one could say that very same mindeset brought me here. But if I had to choose one single thing where I’d say ‘just leave it alone’, it’s this. vorpX can automatically adjust the FOV to 100% perfectly match the headset FOV considering each and every setting you may have adjusted that affects FOV. You can’t guess better. Maybe with the rare exception of three or four cases where the computation itself contains a guess factor due to some game oddity. This is not one of them though.

So whenever vorpX can compute the FOV, let it do its thing. There’s still a lot to tinker with even if you don’t touch the things you REALLY don’t have to touch. :)

    I tried it. It’s amazing !

One of the best profile and best game.

I works perfectly (full VR G3D 6dof with perfect animations / immersion once FOV & resolution configured).

The camera is already partially and perfectly decoupled from moves in the base game so it feels very natural, like if you were in the main character body.

Indeed the game works in full VR at launch whithout touching anything (it’s possible to add extra FOV in the VorpX menu). I didn’t even know VorpX was able to do that.

But I have a performence problem with DirectVR in this game (my fans are going crazy so I had to disable it). When I change the FOV myself in the game’s files, the game is very optimized (I can play in full VR G3D with 3840×2880 resolution and max graphics and the PC stay cool).

    It works perfectly this way.

I prefer 120 FOV for now. It feels like beeing in the game.

    HUD can be resized.

The texture enhancement slider is surprisingly locked even in G3D but this may be intentionnal.
I use ClarityFX and Sharpness and the game is already quite enhanced this way.

    —-

This game is relatively hard to launch on Win11.

I had to buy it again on Steam (I already had the original collector edition from 2006) for 5 euros.

Then I had to fix the large adress memory problem (there are a lot of easy solutions : using LAA or NTCore 4GB patch or editing mm.exe with an HEX editor).

I used the TNG Patcher to get the extra FOV after the ballista (before I just had to bind FOV in [game_directory]/mm/cfg/config.cfg like that : bind “UPARROW” “+forward;sv_cheats 1;fov 120;viewmodel_fov 120”)

I used this launch parameters in Steam :
    -width 3840 -height 2880 -dxlevel 90 -heapsize 2097152 -novid +datacachesize “128”

-novid wasn’t mandatory for me (videos are working).

Launching the game (and VorpX if needed) with admin rights at least one time is useful to save the graphics settings for good.

There are mods for this game but I recommand configuring the game without them at least once.
Be careful : installing mods may be more difficult with the Steam version.

I am not sure if a resolution higher that the headset resolution will have any benefit.

It greatly improves image quality in most games when you play in Full VR or when you zoom enough in Immersive Screen. I usually play at 3840p (5120×3840) without DLSS, FSR, etc if I can. But I have an RTX4090 so I can do it with most games (with max settings).

2880p is enough with a lot of games (especially old ones and ones with G3D). With the G2, you can achieve very impressive results, especially in large outdoors environments. Sometimes I use FSR with max quality if the game is too demanding (Frontier Of Pandora, etc.) but with very high resolution to compensate as much as possible. There may be other way to improve image quality, but it’s a very simple and effective way. Most games (at least the most recent ones) are much more accurate at long range with very high resolution.

But for you, if you don’t zoom at all, it’s probably not useful. 2160p should already be great.

Anyway, It’s surprising than you can’t tilt the Immersive Screen. It never happened to me. I think Cinema and Immersive Screen don’t tilt in the same direction (I don’t use Cinema mode anymore). I usually tilt down because of the way I wear the G2 (with a BoboVR M2 strap, so it doesn’t touch my face/forehead at all).

    so I managed to make reverb g2 work with windows 11 thanks to “oasis”; but I couldn’t make the controllers appear; too bad; and I managed to make vorpx work with it: I mustn’t touch the headset, I start vorpx and not steamvr; I start the game and it works;

Reverb 2 has a built-in Bluetooth station, and the controllers pair directly with it; Oasis cannot use it, so you need either a Bluetooth-capable motherboard or a separate Bluetooth station and pair the controllers in Windows (there’s a button under the batteries that puts them in the “discovery” mode). If you decide to uninstall the Oasis, you’ll need to un-pair the controllers in Windows and use the dedicated Reverb utility to re-pair them with the headset (using the same button).

Oasis is currently in a very raw state (e.g., Riven has a lot of glitches and often crashes), so I uninstalled it for now. It does work with Vorpx, but e.g. Indy crashes on my PC whenever opened alongside SteamVR. Thank God Vorpx doesn’t require SteamVR and can work with OpenXR …

Thanks. Yeah, it had been 6+ years since I last touched a Pimax also. Might have some dust haha.

They’ve come a ways though, and gaining some traction in the sim market. The Super seemed to be the best option of this years headset lineup. I took the gamble to see if it could enhance my vorpX gaming.

So far I’m pleased with the visual upgrade, just need better framerates. I am overdue for a cpu/GPU upgrade though, which will be coming soon. An openxr boost would be the icing on the cake if possible.

If not, or it’s too much a headache, I’ll understand. If it’s an easy fix, great.

Wait, half disregard my last message!!

I didn’t realize there was a 25.1.1 version since an update prompt didn’t pop up! I did all my last message’s tests on the older v24.

I rerun everything on the new one, and although it isn’t perfect, it is WAY better now, so whatever you touched, it did work to some degree @Ralf!

I’d say we’re easy 25-50% higher resolution now, at 3000×3000 guessing by eye? Up from like… 2160!
This is definitely on the playable side, sure it isn’t perfect, but text isn’t poking my eyes out anymore, and putting massive anti-aliasing seems to help lots.

I did the Baldur’s Gate 3 test again, and now the image on the SteamVR menu and the VorpX one are soooo close, it is nitpicking to complain about it!

    Thanks @Ralf!
Could you change the title of this thread to something like [SOLVED]Won’t be recommending VorpX anymore due to low resolution bug :(

In reply to: Nvidia driver 580.88

Frankly I can’t even really imagine how a driver update could cause such an issue. vorpX captures the game output before it is sent to the driver and sending the final image to the headset later works through the VR APIs (Meta/SteamVR/OpenXR) like in any other VR app. Not a single point in that pipeline touches the graphics driver directly. Very, very weird.

Either way, since for me 580.88 works fine, so that I can’t replicate your issue, all I can recommend is:

    1. Trying all three VR APIs in the config app, a Quest should work with all of them.
    2. Using a driver version that is working for you.
    3. In case this is related to a gaming laptop, try to disable the integrated GPU to ensure that games run on the same GPU that the headset is connected to, which usually is the dedicated GPU in a gaming laptop.

If you want, you can create a trouble shoot archive with log files and system infos in the config app and send it to support at vorpx com. Probably won’t show anything useful, but can’t hurt to look at it.

When using Quest 3 touch controllers with Vorpx button mapping, can the grip buttons be remapped? Currently the left grip is used for shift remapping the buttons, and the right grip is used for edgepeek in VorpX, and I would like to be able to disable edgepeek, or remap the right grip so it doesn’t activate the edgepeek.

The remap buttons section of the Vorpx in-game menu doesn’t seem to have a field to remap the the grip buttons.

I know that the edgepeek button can be mapped in the section ‘In-Game Key Bindings’ of VorpX, but that would then change the edgepeek for all profiles, not just one.

As another solution, you can use the option “Use controllers as gamepad” in Virtual Desktop before switching to VorpX. This way, you will be able to use all buttons of a traditional gamepad from your Meta controllers (D-pad is also accessible via the thumbrest touch button).

I’m trying to get Sekiro running with an Xbox gamepad on the v24 beta but there’s some sort of button remapping being applied that I can’t figure out how to disable.

The A and X buttons are swapped, joystick sensitivity is maxed, LB/RB don’t register in the menu and the thumb button opens vorpx instead of crouching.

I found the gamepad override option but it doesn’t fix the above for me even after a restart. Any hints on how to fix this? I really just want the inputs to get passed through untouched!

    @Ralf:
I would recommend not touching the mechanism that vorpx hooks into dgvoodoo2 (current DGVoodoo2 Profile) because this may break hundrets of profiles. If i may make a suggestion, explicitely make a new profile for the version that currently doesnt work.

If i may point on the many profiles i made:
Most of these are using v2.6. Only a few 2,7. Profiles having no version info, you may use v2.6 or lower down to 2.5.

Note: I have a few DGVoodoo2 Z3D profiles as well on the cloud for DX6 and Glide, using v2.6 !
Since each profile is different i recommend going through them until you find one that works.
You may also take note of this list https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?t=62198 , hasent benn updated for a while though.

I shut down VorpX, Steam, rFactor, my VR headset, and PiTool. After opening them all back up and trying again, now the eyes are not reversed anymore and the 3D looks great – no reversed eyes.

Yet again, I didn’t touch any settings but somehow a different result from VorpX.

This is the 3rd or 4th time in maybe 6 or 7 game-starts that I’ve had different results with my game using VorpX. It’s as if VorpX has a mind of it’s own and decides to change back-end settings on it’s own whenever you start a game…weird.
