Hi Ralf, I bought VorpX and I’ve been having fun playing VR games, thank you! I would like to know if there is an option to reconnect the connection between the camera and walking in the game and maintain the FOV, I don’t know why you disconnected the two, there must be a good reason, I just started the game, and I was used to it in other games games, in which the character walks where you are looking. Is there a way to make this an option? Or is this really bad for the gameplay and I haven’t touched it yet? Can you explain me?

There are games like Space Engineers that have separate HUDs for keyboard/mouse and gamepads. And they switch automatically whenever one is touched. I’ve disabled head tracking and VR controllers. And when I use any key on gamepad, game switches to gamepad HUD only to switch back to keyboard/mouse HUD in a sec.

I also tried the games normally without VorpX, and it behaves properly. So my question is what can I do to make sure game stays in gaempad mode with VorpX?

While VorpX does not add motion controls to games, I like playing my games while standing up. It helps with motion sickness and immersion (because my ingame character is probably also standing). Using the separated JoyCon controllers via Bluetooth, one in each hand, is even better than the Touch controllers that came with my Quest 3 for having a standard button layout and giving me free use of my hands. What do you guys think? I also wanted to say, I’m new to the community and VR in general and I look forward to chipping in. Hey guys!

You may have to press a trigger/button to activate motion controllers ingame, nothing else.

Don’t touch anything in the vorpX menu aside from the resolution and potentially the framerate cap. If you have a fast PC you may to want to set it to ‘small delay’ instead of the default 66%. That will allow the game to run at the full refresh rate of your headset if you don’t overdo with the graphics details.

Everything else you really need to know gets displayed in the headset when you launch the game. No need for an external readme. Check the huge instructions panel on the right and the info panels that are displayed when you go through the tutorial.

The general features are listed in the aformentioned instructions panel. As far as less obvious features are concerned the most important one is probably VR optimized vehicle and weapon (aiming down sights) cameras, i.e. the mod adjusts the default camera positions etc. based on gameplay context. Aiming down sights even comes with actual motion controller aiming.

    motion controllers gamepad, override OFF

OK, but that combination still gave me the same result: junk key command sent by VorpX.

As a side effect, if VorpX and real gamepad would work simultaneously, as a single unit, it would create a very undesirable side effect: head movement would fight with gamepad/joystick control of the ship. I did see that effect, while still having the opening map bug.

I will retest simulating the gamepad with override off again, just to make sure, of course. Will try tomorrow. But it would actually be very logical if VorpX could just do keyboard/mouse, without touching any gamepad, and won’t fire keystrokes when the gamepad’s buttons are pressed, provided it’s in keyboard/mouse mode with override set to off. The the game would take care of keyboard/gamepad coexistance and priority. It’s the current behaviour that seems illogical. I just wanted to be clear that you understand the problem. Obviously, only you know if there is a good reason for VorpX acting that way and if that could be fixed or not. I’m just saying what I see and what it looks like from the user perspective. So my apologies for repeating myself.

Correction – when I set both Gamepad mode and gamepad override as off, saved and fully restarted the game – the controllers were not working at all as a gamepad, but the emulator (or real gamepad) was working fine, and no map opened via button presses. But as soon as I set it to override the gamepad, or act as keyboard/mouse – I get this map pop-up in flight on RB relese.

It’s almost there! If not for this bug, otherwise it’s working – I use controllers on land, and my joysticks in flight – and it feels great, up to the moment I try to use thrusters. “Select Target” button (A) also glitches sometimes, possibly due to the same problem. IT’s some conflicting between gamepad/VorpX. I tried without VorpX – just with real gamepad/keyboard and there is no such problem – I can seamlessly use keyboard and gamepad, one overrides another perfectly, no map popup, no flicker of icons: once I touch gamepad – they stay round, and once I touch keyboard – they stay square No flicker at any point. But as soon as I turn on VorpX – it starts again, even though it should just emulate keyboard presses without doing anything different than the keyboard…

I’ve brought this exact issue up multiple times over the last few years but I’m not confident an option will ever be given to bind different gamepad buttons for menu/edge peek (or better yet, compound buttons so you don’t have to use in-game keys at all).

I’ve found a dirty work-around for it on my xbox series x gamepad. If you go into the steam gamepad settings while on FO76 (or any other Steam game), you should be able to bind the “share” button to a keyboard key. I have two different keys set to the share button–one with a short press of it and the other with a long press. I bound the short press to edgepeek and the long press opens the menu.

Once that’s done, you can disable the actual vorpx gamepad keys (which I’ve found to be useless as the stick buttons and start/select are simply too important in most games to be used for Vorpx) and still access both edgepeek and the menu with the gamepad. This should work with any gamepad that has extra buttons that can be bound in Steam (like the touchpad button on the Dualshock 4/5 gamepads, etc).

On the Headset Displays you can see a menu, if you will press “Del” on your keyboard. In this menu there are many settings and on one page of the menu you can change the settings of the motion controls.

I know the vorpx menü, but there you can only choose between touch controller as mouse/keyboard, touch controller as gamepad or controller off…

The gesture controls doesn’t work for me with my quest 2 controllers for some reason.

Touch controllers work fine if I load CP through Vorpx, if I use the Standalone version the touch controllers don’t work.

Just bought Cyberpunk 2077 to try with the Vorpx Standalone mod. I do own Vorpx, but I’m using the Standalone. All seems ok visually, some ghosting, problem is I can’t move around with my Oculus touch controllers, I have a Rift S. I have applied the latest CET files. Not sure what I’m doing wrong. Any help would be much appreciated.

    You’re welcome :)

My Apologies Senan, I was a bit foggy in the head when I wrote that (long night before lol).

I completely forgot to mention that I also use an app that converts my PS4 controller into a Xbox360 controller which has the ability to map keyboard keys to my controller (arguably the most important part =| SMH).
Anywho, I personally use reWASD which is NOT free, however I’m pretty sure there are free alternatives out there (x360ce as an example).

So basically you could map keyboard keys to perhaps your LB and RB and achieve it this way.
The only caveat here is that you would lose whichever gamepad buttons you mapped.
This is why I use a PS4 controller as I essentially gain 5 extra buttons on the touch/click pad.

You can both disable and/or bind to other keys if you wish via the Vorpx Config app.
Pop open the Config app and navigate to the “In-Game Key Bindings”, there you can configure it how you want it ;)

I ran into the same problem a few times, so my solution with every game I play using Vorpx is to disable the “Vorpx” thumbstick presses in the “Del” menu.
I use a PS4 controller and map both Vorpx Menu and Edgepeek to my PS4 touchpad corners.

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, I’m not seeing an option for binding the actual gamepad buttons to anything (unless I’m missing something?); only keyboard shortcuts. Since I’m using an XBOX one controller, I don’t have anything extra to use with something like xpadder/joy2key. That’s why it’d be nice if we could use something like a compound button press for Vorpx.
