ParticipantThanks! I tried and the shortcuts and healing works.
However, I can’t access the map, the start menu and also the crafting menu. Do I have to map new keys for those?May 12, 2021 at 6:00pm #203958luka2099
Participanti tried to use the openxr method. it looks fluid but I have a problem. the window appears to be shifted to the top left and not centered. how do i solve?

KeymasterRecentering the headset should do the trick, either via ALT+SPACE or with the ‘Recenter Tracking’ button in the vorpX menu.

ParticipantHi Ralf, thanks for replying! Feedback on my texture pop in an out on single objects: Setting HUD and its width to 1.0 did not change anything. Nor did changing any of the game graphics settings. It is strange because the affected objects tend to be really close, just one rock, a layer of gras in one spot or a certain tree, plus why would a texture layer pop out again even after it already got rendered and I just move my view?
However! It is not a big deal. 99 % of the scenery is fine, game runs and looks great, scale of the world and the weapons (!) is on point. No crashes. It just happens outdoors and is just a bit distracting and taking you out of the immersion sometimes.
Offtopic remarks:
– Fov mod does not seem to work in cutscenes so they are very much in my face and not showing everything that is going on.
– Playing with a xbox 360 gamepad I had to remap the buttons in vorpx (was easy). They were not by default mimicking the configuration displayed in the game settings, some functions were missing.
– Being in the map I cannot scroll it. Neither gamepad, mouse or controller work. Actually some help on this one would be very much appreciated. Thanks again for making this fantastic experience possible so soon! I just started the dollhouse.

ParticipantHey guys I just purchased vorpx to play Res 7 and I wanted to add that I too was having really horrible frame rates until I disabled AWS in the oculus debug tool. Still tweaking and havent truly started playing yet but figured I’d throw that out there in case anyone else is having similar trouble.

ParticipantI would suggest turning off motion smoothing in steamVR as well because that on top pf ASW in Oculus were giving me trouble.
Also Ralf when using gamepad, do I have to change the input settings to gamepad and not keyboard and mouse? Doesn’t seem to make a difference as I still have to map according to keyboard and mouse keys.
Is it possible to default back to steam when using the gamepad? Steam already has native support for dualshock and xbox controllers and the aim sensitivity is miles better than the mapping in VorpX.

KeymasterYou can adjust the sensitivity to your liking in the vorpX menu.
vorpX has to override the native gamepad in this game, no way around that. The game can’t handle mouse and gamepad input at the same time. Since vorpX has to emulate a mouse for head tracking, the only way to use a gamepad at the same time is emulating mouse/kb with the gamepad. The alternative would be no gamepad at all (or no headtracking).

ParticipantRalf,
Thanks for the advices, the games runs super smooth with the Touch controllers now as well as the Dualshock 4. However, I prefer the touch as it kinda gives a better right analog aiming accuracy/sensitivity.
To other players wanting a similar setup, please use my Profile Frenchiebong. it’s optimal for 1080p gameplay. I’m sure it’ll also work with 1440p resolutions for the stronger PC users. I’m getting almost consistent 75-80fps (80 is max on Rift S) only when there are tons of monsters or when the Daughters attack you will it dip below that. It’s still very smooth and playable. I haven’t tried other profiles yet but I’ll see what other users have uploaded as well and keep improving on the settings. Kudos to Ralf once again for this wonderful Software.
Highly recommend letting your friends know about VorpX if they are eager to play all future and past games in VR!

ParticipantOK, an update on the Gamepad situation.
After sending an error log file of the profile in the game, Ralf confirmed the issue was that vorpX was not able to override the Gamepad on my PC.
No matter what we did, it wouldnt work.
Today I manually removed the Gamepad’s bluetooth installation that was hidden, re install the drivers. reset the profile to default and now it works perfectly. vorpX is overriding the Gamepad.May 15, 2021 at 2:43pm #204059ParadiseDecay

ParticipantI actually think im gonna wait for a patch on this one..
I get extreme texture pop in and foliage pop in – like from 2-5 steps away, depending on how bad it is.
I am running on mix of High and medium settings with a 5600xt, it should be able to do this just fine, I can pretty much max most games at 1440p out and not experience weird texture pop in.
Also, when an enemy gets a grapple on me, my framerate turns to nothing, like maybe 15 fps a second.
Unfortunately ladies and gents – I think we gonna have to wait on a patch to get this thing running properly. Its not vorpx, I tested it with and without Vorpx and saw other streamers having the same thing happen. Only other game I saw with super weird texture problems to this degree before was Asgards Wrath from Oculus – took em a few weeks but they did fix it, and RE8 is much more in the public consciousness, think a few weeks and theyll have it sorted out

ParticipantActually, played with graphics some more and oddly enough – it seems like having Mesh @ max is the most important setting in the game. took away the vast majority of texture and item pop in. never seen anything quite like this before, but if you are having pop in, try putting mesh to max and see if that helps your game a bit
