ParticipantOh, by the way, I’ve started replaying “Shadow of the Tomb Raider”, and it absolutely SHINES with a bit of doll house effect to it. I don’t think I would play it any other way. Really feels deeply 3D.

ParticipantYou mean by cranking up the 3D effect to get it that way?
If so, any 3rd person games should do fine that way (as long as they are G3D). Resident evil 2 is a good example.
I play a lot of my games in Z3D, because of performance and shadows. I find that in Z3D, I can crank up the 3D to get it to look closer to G3D, but it doesn’t have that doll house effect.
Its a cool effect on some games for sure.dborosev
ParticipantI’m still holding out hope that my 1080ti will be enough to run it using Z3D.
I’ll just drop the resolution to 320×200 like the good old days of Doom. That should be enough. It’ll be good and retro.dborosev
ParticipantJust fyi, you’re coming off as a bit of a d!ck to that guy.
Being frustrated by multiple postponements doesn’t make someone entitled, nor does it warrant a comparison to death threats. Just sayin.Oct 29, 2020 at 9:01pm in reply to: PSA: Cheat Engine works wonders for some 3rd person games #197582dborosev
ParticipantExactly why I used cheat engine.

ParticipantSome games only have cheat engine tables though, there is no other FOV option.

ParticipantImmersive mode.

ParticipantI tried the first person mod, that was pretty cool.

ParticipantVorpX has definitely been the best part of VR for me for the last few years. Reddit has become such an echo chamber of “mob-think” lately, that I’m going there less and less these days.

ParticipantThe latest info drop on the game:

ParticipantI’ve played through both, but now I’m replaying the pancake version, but using VorpX to play in 3D cinema mode.
Trying it this way, because I can mod the living sh!t out of it, and don’t have to worry about framerate drops. Pretty sweet so far, looks far more gorgeous than the VR version.dborosev
ParticipantAs someone who’s used VorpX for 4 years: Use Z3D (as thats more likely to be supported than G3D right away) and crank the 3D setting to 3. It gives the best depth, very close to G3D.
And Z3D is very fast, no need to worry about performance.dborosev
ParticipantCool, good to know.

ParticipantOk I can give that a try this week and see if it works. Its no biggie if I can’t figure it out, its just mildly irritating when I am in 3rd person mode.
Haha I’m surprised someone as deeply knowledgeable about peoples diverse gaming preferences as you are would ask. :) We all have our quirks and prefs.
For bethesda games in particular, I like to play 3rd person sometimes because a) The character customization, armors, etc, can be a lot of fun, which you can’t see in 1st person. b) Sneaking in bethesda games – 3rd person gives you a little extra camera maneuverability to see around corners slighly, move around your character, see them pulling off an assasination, etc.
So I like to switch between 1st and 3rd person depending on what I’m doing.
Cheers.dborosev
ParticipantHmm, troubleshooting it, I seem to have gotten past the oculus runtime error that VorpX was producing in Oculus mode. No idea which thing did it, maybe oculus software was in a bad state. But still very jittery in 3rd person view when playing the game. Maybe jittery isn’t the right word. More like the camera is rendering from a different location for 1-2 frames every second or two.
I’ll continue to play with it and see if I can narrow down what could be causing the camera freak outs in 3rd person.
Thanks. -
