I appreciate your help. Maybe it would be good to have an aspect ratio setting in the Immersive Screen mode as well? Then i can set it and forget it. :)

Enjoy your weekend. If anything more comes up, i’ll report on Monday.

Ralf, i can confirm that something’s not quite right with the immersive mode.

Just to rule out some error on my part, i started the game two times in a row – no change.

    Some observations:

    1) Vertical screen curvature is OFF in my settings.

    2) The image is not stretched vertically, but shrinked horizontally (so instead of 16:9 i have ~14:9). Issue can be seen best in the quick menu for changing signs/bombs).

    3) Changing the horizontal curvature makes no difference.

Then i switched to Cinema Mode – same issue! I changed the Aspect from Auto to 16:9 – problem solved!

Then i switched back to Immersive Mode, and boom – 14:9 aspect in all its glory – the image is compressed again from the sides.

    Can you reproduce this?

I have a 16:9 monitor and run 16:9 proper (i think) full screen resolution.

I’ll try some things in the next hour, and get back to you.

I have not adjusted the curvature at all. I’ll try changing it, though.

I can’t imagine that being the issue though, because the stretch is very noticeable and wasn’t there before.

Finally i can log-in again, and post my opinion about this. (The forum was broken for a while, and people with deleted cookies couldn’t login again, right?)

Many thanks to Ralf for opening up VorpX for future games with the DX12 implementation. I was sure it will happen at some point when some über-popular game gets released.

No reason to worry about Cyberpunk 2077 anymore, i guess… I’m very excited. For RDR2 as well, but i don’t see finishing The Witcher 3 any time soon in the next two months (after 40 hrs i’m only level 10)… :-D

As always, so many games come out at once. Those publishers never learn, LOL…

But i’m one of those people who are very hyped to play JFO in VorpX. And i just love Unreal Engine’s rendering. Great times ahead!

After playing for a couple of days in Cinema Mode, i am back to Immersive Screen Mode. I missed the edge peek, and i gotta say – the curved screen is really more immersive, despite the perspective distortion at the sides.

IMO, the only thing that can improve Immersive Screen Mode is to use a projection that takes into account the curvature of the screen. But i’m no expert in such things… :)

If vorpx gets a profile with directvr I will get rdd2.

I will not play RDR2 if it doesn’t get a VorpX profile. []-)

Wow, i remember Condemned. There was a jump scare in an office building that i didn’t expect and i had to stop playing, turn on the lights and walk around my apartment for a while, LOL. Never had something similar happened to me with another game. :)

Do the shadows work glitch-free in G3D?

That’s a shame. In cinema mode, while i can just jump back when a cut scene is playing while standing, it wouldn’t work with seated playing.

Please consider in the future adding a setting for the curvature in Immersive Screen mode – if possible. I never knew, but it turns out that those games have a FOV that is meant for flat projection.

Yes! I tried Cinema Mode and adjusted the screen closer (-0.6), then lowered the curvature to 0.4. In comparison to Immersive Screen it now looks more natural, because there’s no distortion on the horizon, and the horizontal edges of the image are not stretched! I love it.

There’s just one problem. I lost Edge Peek, which i use in cut scenes all the time. Instead there is a magnifier that i don’t need. :)

I guess i could jump backwards in cut scenes, but i imagine it kinda stressful…

Is there any possibility to get Edge Peek back?

Ah, i see. OK, that’s helpful enough. I’ll try cinema mode to see if it feels better distortion wise.

Thanks, Ralf. I tweaked the values yesterday a bit myself, and got it looking better (but maybe my brain just adapted). 3D strength from 2.0 to 1.5 and Near/Far from 0.5 to 0.4. Screen is set a bit farther (0.10) and FOV ingame to 85 (probably vertical).

    1) I couldn’t find the setting for the curvature in Immersive Screen mode, could you give be a pointer?

    2) When you say “if”, you probably tried it yourself already, so there’s no point in me trying to tweak it? Maybe with the Focal Offset setting?
