KarlorParticipantNormally renaming a file would probably be enough but I’m not sure about the graphic mods(ENBs/sweet effects) so just taking them out is the safest probably. As far as other mods I haven’t had any issues so go nuts! :) I would suggest a ton of HUD mods, texture/model upgrades and a memory patch to help performance.
KarlorParticipantAll I can say is just double check everything and make sure everything is up to date. Go over the start up checklist for vorpX and check out the guides. Also check out your Rift set up instructions to make sure its all set up and ready to go. Could be an antivirus of some kind or some type of other program trying to activate at the same time. Also if you cant solve it post your system specs and what game your trying out.
KarlorParticipantOne more tip is to go into the game settings and turn up the mouse sensitivity inside of the vehicles. I put mine up past halfway. It makes turning your head in the rift more responsive while inside something.
Pretty much the only thing it needs now is a mod for the HUD. In game there is a “safezone” setting that adjusts the HUD but it only goes so small. Maybe something a modder could adapt sort of like the FOV mod.
KarlorParticipantEverybody Needs Boris but I havn’t found a way to use ENB and vorpX. They use the same files for there magic I think. Anyway I hope you can get it up and running. I love Fallout and it’s good to see another fan trying VR. Stick with it, it’s worth it. Check out some of the other posts for some mods that will help make it even better in the Rift.
KarlorParticipantShouldn’t need to rename anything? That might be why its not hooking. You cant have any ENBs or things like that. mods are fine just not ENB and things like that. I booted Fallout 3 a few months back and it was good then. I usually play New Vegas modded to the max right now but they both should hook no problem. Fallout and Skyrim are really good with vorpX. You can tune them in so good it’s pretty cool. Try a fresh install if taking out the ENB doesnt help it hook. Then you can add all your mods back after you make sure the vanilla game launches(it should).
KarlorParticipantYeah the mod comes pre set to almost vanilla FOV settings. I just put them all at 110ish in the settings doc(may be a little too wide for some). Then in vorpX I use 1:1, z-normal, image zoom is about 88ish, I also use A lenses but in vorpX I set it to B lenses(just more comfortable for me), I also tweaked around on the vignette scale some but not a lot. I think you’ll have luck getting this to work with your controller, let me know.
KarlorParticipantOh man that mod just made my day! So much better after the update. Its still has some times it zooms in but its 100% playable now. Last nights one quick test became a 2 hour session. That mod is great thanks for the link. I don’t go online with the mod, I take it out just incase. Anyway to check with R* if its ok? other then getting booted lol
KarlorParticipantOne last thing I wanted to say. I was wrong about having them be so split up being a negative. It mite be more involved but this way you could have steering wheel and a joystick as well as a keyboard. So you could get crazy. It would be a LOT of set up but would be pretty cool. Also a more in depth FOV mod would be nice. When you pretty much do anything it alters your FOV even if you have it widened. That can be annoying, it should just always stay at what ever you set it too lol for a flat screen its ok zooming in and out but in the rift it bugs the heck out of me.
KarlorParticipantAlso set the in game to not center 1st person. When using this set up and the rift, it constantly tries to stop and start recording. Doesn’t effect game play but anoying. Set your game to the lowest memory setting that way it just fills up and stops lol. This is in the way GTA is set up and I can’t find a way to change it.
KarlorParticipantOkay I got it working. I use a ps3 controller but I hope it works with xbox for you guys. Get joy 2 key, get your controller hooked up. start joy 2 key, hopefully it sees it. you’ll know if it high lights around. set your right stick to mouse movements. I used like 75 for horizontal and 50 for vert. then set run button to left shift. also I set up my select and start to be delayed and then it activates vorpx center and edge peek. works great! also I use the fov mod on the recomended page. I set mine to 110.
KarlorParticipantYeah I can use the keys to at least move around the menu and adjust stuff. Sometimes those get stuck too though due to the head movement. I have a workaround I used to adjust settings but its a bit of a pain. Not that big of a deal as it’s only doing it with GTA V. That’s brand new so there’s probably many bugs and hidden things yet to find out. Just wanted to let you know encase it correlated with any other errors or something.
I have mouse cursor control in vorpX menu for about 10-15 seconds at start up then it gets stuck back in the center. My normal cursor works fine around the screen as well as everything else in vorpX works too. For some reason it gets sucked back to center. I think I changed something somewhere but I cant put my finger on it. Anyway I can use my workaround to tune it in for now.
KarlorParticipantIf you built your headsets to use the oculus run time then It would probably work out of the box but I have now idea for sure. I’m sure support for major brand headsets will be supported once they actually show up. As for home brew style HMDs it would probably be hard to try to trouble shoot everything just for one unique set up. Good luck on your project, sounds cool.
KarlorParticipantOK I had a bit of a hiccup last night and I got it working again. I had tried a million different things and then for some reason my Rift wouldn’t get recognized after I was all done messing around. This is what I did and it fixed it for me. I do not know if it was what I did fixed it or it just healed itself lol if you mess it up worse or get confused or turn something off that your not supposed to I’m not listening.
Anyway:
Go to search under start menu. Type in msconfig.exe. I selected selective start up. Hit ok, then restart when asked. Then when It started back up It worked. It also could of been something I tweaked inside of this page but I think all I did that mattered was hit the selective start up. Don’t ask me how or why it worked it just did for me. Hope it helps someone :)
KarlorParticipantJust had some luck with getting a “hybrid” controller/keyboard set up to not jitter the head tracking during testing. I’m not sure it has full controller functionality though. I’ll mess with it more tomorrow, I’m burnt out on GTA V for now.
KarlorParticipantRemapping the keyboard to a gamepad proved to be very tricky and I gave up(after 3 hours of trouble shooting). The way GTA V key bindings work really leaves something to be desired. The way they have it so split up for different actions and the way you can’t use certain buttons more then once and the way you cant leave any key bindings “open” is really lame.. Anyway, so my usual trick isn’t going to do it this time.
Although the buttons I did get remapped worked its just to much to try to fit on one controller the way they make you bind keys in game.Long story short, if you want to use a controller your stuck with the jittery right stick until a fix is found.
I’ll keep messing with settings to see if I can mitigate it any further. -
