Is there any way you could make scaling an option? If toggling the scaling will make it function more like this pip-boy:

Then I would be all about that. Its an old video of some guy messing around in Fallout VR and the Pip-Boy screen “stays” with the in game pip-boy. Might be easier to navigate at least for this game. The adjustment of the UI is great for games that don’t have a modding community dont get me wrong, I love the feature. Fallout/Skyrim have a bunch of crazies modding them all the time and UI/HUD mods aplenty, so in this instance maybe the scaling isn’t as critical? The pip boy thing is about the last thing for Fallout then Id say it’s perfect for a VR experience.

I would say its the FOV needs to be increased for sure. That will help. I have noticed, with BioShock 1 especially, that it has a more fish-eye/bubble distortion then other games. I think its the DX9 it uses or something. What I did to limit this is increase FOV of the game then I used vorpX options to “stretch” it around (2d FOV I think, and others) until it looked better. BioShock 1 is one of the more noticeable distorted games. Its the age I think. Jericho looked for me to have the same style of distortion, it can be managed though. Also for Biohock 1 the FOV increases but the scale of your hands and guns never changes. In most games when you increase FOV it zooms out and you can see more of the character model. The way Bioshock works it doesn’t effect the scale of your character so it can seem a little funky. Also the hacking is an insane pain in the Rift, I use a mod to just get rid of it.

If you want to be really blown away play BioShock Infinite on the Rift. I played it and all the DLC, twice lol

Im not 100% sure but BF4 may be one of those games that takes a little extra tinkering to get to run right. I don’t know personally so take that for what it is.

It sounds like you may be having an issue with something else trying to hook into the game or interfering with the way vorpX hook. It could be antivirus stuff or maybe even some sort of video card manager programs can interfere. Also it could be your multi monitor set up messing with it. You could try just having one monitor and the Rift and see it that helps. Windows has real brain farts when it comes to switching displays around. Check out the forums for better insight.

I’ll admit this game does look pretty cool :) I haven’t ever played it but the 1st movie was good and the screen shots look like it would be fun in VR. Are there any graphics mods for this game I wonder? Too bad they wizzed this movie franchise down their leg it could of been something really unique.

Ok I get what your saying about using up cycles. Is there a less CPU/GPU intensive way to adjust things like that for the Rifts screen? Maybe at like an almost hardware level? Or would something like that be for Oculus to implement? It would be cool for the consumer Rift to have a “menu” button on the side of it that lets you adjust its setting like you do on a screen or TV.

Looking forward to Import/Export :) It would be really really handy. For trying out completely different set ups, swapping out settings so a friend can hop in without redoing everything each time, and for sharing cool and use full game tweaks. Also for people doing the rename-game it could make using a profile for that a lot easier too. Especially if you happen to use the same profile for multiple unsupported games.

I’ve been meaning to try out some UI/HUD mods just haven’t got around to it yet. You could try using imgur and post the pic that way.

When I saw this I thought of King’s Quest.. ahh those were the days.
Anyway that sucks it did that. The update also seemed to revert some of my settings to original.

I’ve said it once Ill say it again. Would you buy a one-size-fits-all pants and expect them to fit everyone snug as a bug in a rug? Come on dudes. It’s ALWAYS going to need adjustments. Can you just pop on someone else’s glasses and go on down the road whistling Dixie? If you answered yes then maybe VR isn’t best for you.

    FACT: vorpX kicks ass.

If it is dependent on something like that maybe make it an option? HUD Scaling may not be an issue depending on what mods someone may be using. It could be from my current mods too. Not a biggy.

Ok I will look into it, ask around in the nexus forums or something. Thanks for the heads up.

For those interested i have a basic version of the mod up on nexus:
    http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/58671/?
Its pretty basic now but I’ll keep improving on it.

    Ok sounds good.
One more question, is the HUD on it’s own plain? What I mean is does it have it’s own flat polygonal mesh? The reason I ask is if it does then I could mod the mesh to be an actual 3D interior for your head to be in. As it is now the visor overlays are flat so maybe I could texture map them to a new 3D HUD. Anyway just an idea I had and thought you mite know some about it.

You could try turning down the head tracking in vorpX (del) and/or turning down any mouse settings in game.

You could maybe try uninstalling then reinstalling vorpX. That might do it. Also I have had problems with nVidia experience interfering with vorpX. If you have something like that maybe try uninstalling it. Could your display setting for the rift in the system settings have gotten changed somehow? Anyway hope you can get it sorted.

Try making sure your Oculus sdk is up to date. That might fix it. I had a failure to start until I updated the sdk as well as vorpX.

It should be an option in the vorpX in game menu (Del). You activate it then it lets you choose what setting for the virtual environment around you. I didn’t use it a whole lot yet but it seems pretty cool.
