I seriously doubt that the windows update effected your FOV, but who knows, Windows 10 does suck pretty hard so it could be. I would say if it is Windows maybe its messing with resolution and making it seem like its screwing with your FOV. If all else fails your FOV should be between 110 and 120 if your setting it up yourself.

The increased FOV wont magically fix your issues with not seeing HUD elements in non VR games inside of vorpX. FOV doesn’t usually have much to do with the actual HUD layer. So opening up your FOV wont make the HUD change. The biggest changes to HUD come from changing the resolution or using vorpX’s HUD adjust options if available. I would bet that the Pimax wide FOV will still hide a lot of the HUD due to it being still a flat image wrapped around you and the edges of the screen not being easily seen. Edge peek and adjusting the HUD will still be a thing inside the Pimax I have no doubt. Maybe even more in some cases as you may need to kick your game into some funky resolutions to try and use up those Pimax stretched screens.

This is the first of these off brand headsets that got my ears to perk up. It looks like a much better experience visually both in resolution and in the peripheral. I would love to try one out. It seems like running two 4k screens would be a lot for any rig to handle and most games might not even run at any usable frame rate. But its definitely cool and if you’ve got a Vive they say you just need the headset and that’s super cool.

I think you may be able to get it to run with vorpx if the headset does indeed run on the steamvr platform. Steam VR more or less in a complicated way just turns your head set and stuff “ON” and then vorpx hooks into the game. So just maybe if this Pimax thing runs on SteamVR then I don’t think vorpx would know the difference and int the words of Tod Howard “just work”. Now sorting out resolutions to force the games into and what graphic settings to use to get usable frame rates would vary widely but still serviceable to those who tinker. It does look like a cool headset.

You could of just written out the word “graphics”, did those 3 extra characters really need to be left off? Anyway sounds like a resolution issue, try bumpin’ up the rez to get thews wicked graphs your after!.. or possibly an ID-10-T issue but give it a try

I have gotten strange borders like that before and it was from weather mods mixed with lighting mods. Mods that add in volumetric fog or ambient mist or maybe even lighting mods can create weird visuals. It has something to do with the combination of these types of mods at least it did on my system. Maybe its the same thing going on with your game. The mod that really seemed to do this was a mod that added 3D clouds to Skyrim. Some people have been able to tweek their ENB to minimize these effects but I never tried. I just lived with it because the small border around certain objects was worth the sweet 3D clouds. As much of pain in the but that it is maybe tr a fresh install, making sure to remove ALL files in install folders as mods are NOT removed when just uninstalling Skyrim, they stay in the folders.

I would maybe hold off on the GPU and think about maybe an SSD if you don’t already have one for your SKyrim/Fallout rig. I would think your video card will give you the same performance on those 2 cards compared to an upgrade, just because the limitation of the actual games and how they are made to function. That being said I would start your SKyrim VR roll with OldRim.

Get it set up and running and looking the way you want BEFORE adding a ton of mods. Once you got it looking good as far as resolution, FOV and vorpX tweaking then its time to patch it up. Get all the memory patches boosters installed and calibrated for your system alongside your ENB injector to make them work. Once you got it to that point you can go nuts with mods, but be smart about modding, use the same common sense you would for modding flat screen and you’ll be fine.

You should be able to get what you want now from your system and GPU, just make sure you patch your OldRim. Also I would recommend using a game pad over motion controls at this point simply because of a lack of inputs. If your clever you can get your controller to have all needed inputs plus some that are required from mods. Around 1000 hours deep after 3 years of playing with vorpX and it only gets better so if your a Skyrim freak just dive in and get it set up, you’ll be glad you did.

I used to get flickering often times after a first launch and upon restarting the game I’d get flickers. Take a look to see if your GPU drivers are up to date. If they are then try rebooting the system before each time you start the game to test. If you still get flickers after a reboot and its the first start of the session then I got nothing. You could check that the direct mode in the vorpX menu is set up, sometimes those settings can really make some strange things happen.

Not sure sounds like you either need to update or rollback Oculus. Normally I would say probably need to update but in this situation it may be a roll back. The mod mite be made to run on a specific run time from oculus. If the mod hasn’t been updated in a while that’s probably the case.

You can try doing this: instead of exiting the game via the in-game exit method try bringing up the Vive menu and click the power icon in the left lower corner and exit game this way. I use it this way and it takes me to home most times. If that doesn’t send you there automatically, just click the steam VR button and it should send you to home now. You could also try setting the display to turn off after some time to help save the screen.

I can’t recall the exact mod but look up HL2 crosshairs and you’ll get a few options to pick. I used just a dot. You can also set up a UI hack in the ini that allows you to set up key presses to toggle hud. So if you combo those with your aim button and get a toggle effect when aiming.

I would agree that if your fav games aren’t supported then its not for you, but if your fav games are then you’ll be blown away. Ive used it for a couple years at this point and vorpX has only gotten better and better. Iv used it on probably like 20ish AAA games in VR and its the real deal. If your sick and tired of playing the “games” that barely pass for tech demos(most are priced at or around vorpX) then buy vorpX and play real games with your sexy VR hardware.

If you can read, have eyes to read with, can follow a list, and are fully able to make decisions for yourself based on your own ideas and feelings then voprX is for you and you will have a great time.

Fact: people are incredibly unfathomably stupid.
The more stupid a person is the louder they yell on the internet. Hence the idea or misconception that vorpX is some sort of “rip off” is laughable. People who can’t figure out how to make vorpX work are just good old fashioned stupid or have the patience of a small child.

There’s no controversy over talking about price? If 50 is too much then the 800+ for the HMD and 1500+ for the pc must of put you in the street no? Its only a fraction of what you have spent and it let’s you use all that hardware to play actual games in VR. Just buy it you’ll instantly see that its worth evey penny.

I think half the mods out will work out of the box. Things like texture and mesh stuff will pop rite in more then likely. More complicated mods will need some tweeking but will be similar to updating mods to SE. They UI for both will be whats getting the most attention and changes id bet. I am super excited to try what they come up with.

That being said Skyrm and vorpX has so much more content then the base VR versions will have. Things like Skyblivion and Skywind will be amazing and only playable in VR via vorpX and OGrim so the choice is easy.

Both are going to be just VR mods added to the base game system. They can say whatever they want but the fans know its just a VR mod. The Skyrim VR will make its way to at least the Vive I’m sure after they role it out for PSVR. Mods will be available for both games too. Its Bethesda, there will be mods for these 2 games in VR, have no doubt in that. The CK will get an update sooner or later. Mite be a few years but it’ll be there. They mite roll out creation club as ‘the only way to mod’ the VR versions but that will last about a day before the comunity eats them alive lol

Fallout 3 isn’t made to run at 90. The engine isn’t designed for those speeds. The performance fps wise between FO3 and GTA V can’t be set side by side, they’re not built the same at all. Gta can and should be able to use almost all your systems power but fo3 is not. 45-60 is unfortunatly all that Fo3 can take engine wise. Gta v is much newer and built with modern hardware in mind so it should be able to have better graphics and performance when set next to a game like fallout 3. Not sure how to get your gta v fps higher but 45-60 with FO3 is normal.
