lipplogParticipantCould you share your specs and your GTA settings? I’m guessing you’re using an Oculus Rift? I’d be shocked if you could get the Vive OpenVR to handle those frame rates.
lipplogParticipantHelp! Vorpx no longer render at 2048×1536 for GTA 5. Could this have been taken away?
Have you tried forcing it by typing it in your Steam Launch Options for GTA?
lipplogParticipantI’d highly recommend people looking for better graphics without a framerate hit look at DynDOLOD on the Nexus.
Thanks for this! Downloading now.
lipplogParticipantThanks, Ralf!
lipplogParticipantThe default recommendation of 1280×1024
Just out of curiosity, is that Height 1280 and Width 1024, or Width 1280 and Height 1024?
lipplogParticipantI’m considering one of two upgrades to improve the FPS for my Vive/vorpX:
1. Buy a SECOND EVGA 1080 FTW card for an SLI setup. Or…
2. Upgrade my i5 4670 3.4Ghz CPU and MSI z87 G45 motherboard to something like you have.
So just to confirm… If I buy a second 1080 FTW card, and it boosts my Skyrim on a traditional display from a 200 to 400 FPS average, then theoretically it should boost my Skyrim on the Vive from a 50 to 100 FPS average, no?
Or do you think a processor upgrade would do more to improve performance? I know most games are not effected by CPU, Skyrim being an exception.
lipplogParticipantThanks Ralf! Great news about the 1080! I just got a 1080 FTW myself but haven’t gotten the same stellar results, which may in fact be because of my i5 4670 3.4Ghz CPU. What CPU are you using, if you don’t mind my asking?
lipplogParticipantThanks Ralf! I’ll be doing some experimenting.
lipplogParticipantAre there any mods out there that allow you to continue in “free look” mode while talking to NPC’s? .. I have been unable to find a mod that allows it, or if there are settings I can apply to Enhanced Cam/Immersive FPP/Joy of Perspective mods to allow it.
Its really annoying to have to keep my head completely still when Im talking to somone.
The solution is built right into the vorpX in-game menu. Set Positional Tracking to OFF, then click on “Start Direct Head Tracking Scan”, and now the dialogue won’t effect your head movement. There’s a bit of a warping effect, but I’m still playing with it.
lipplogParticipantYou would think with so many mods, someone would have done this already. But I have yet to come across one.
lipplogParticipantInteresting! Someone was just telling me to upgrade my MSI z87 G45 gaming motherboard just so I could upgrade my DDR3 ram to DDR4. How many FPS did you gain with your upgrade?
lipplogParticipantInteresting. I’ve had two different cards with vorpX, a GTX 780 ti and an AMD RX 480, and both caused judder when I tried changing that setting to “Fastest”. As soon as my 1080 FTW arrives, that’ll be the first thing I’ll try. What other tips do you have to take full advantage of your 1080. By the way, if you’re using an Oculus, you’ll get way better frames per second than a Vive. I learned that the hard way.
lipplogParticipantThis is fantastic stuff! I’m going to apply several of these tips once my 1080 arrives. And I had the same issue with variant grasses. It was so bad, I was convinced my entire rig was outdated and had to be replaced. As for the problem you mentioned about not being able to look all the way up and around? The only time I’ve ever had that problem was when using a first person mod like Immersive First Person View. Luckily, I was able to change that in the ini file. Maybe the same thing applies with Enhanced Camera? If so, I’m sure there’s a setting in the ini file to fix that.
lipplogParticipantDo you mean the vorpx in-game menu setting where the options are Safe, Safer, or Fast or something like that?
lipplogParticipantI don’t know. Maybe uninstall and reinstall? Try creating a new post and ask Ralf directly.
