OvoParticipant
Focal offset or other settings aren’t at fault because even the room (outside the screen) shows the discrepancy.
OvoParticipantYes, at least it should. When you do shader authoring for an official profile the changes are part of the profile’s user section. I haven’t actually tried that since implementing shader authoring for official profiles, but shader definitions are supposed to be exported/imported like all other user settings for official profiles. Let me know if that doesn’t work.
Ok thanks, it works! I uploaded a profile for Rocket League with the lights fixed, my friend used it. (Cloud profile name’s Ovocean, you’re welcome to copy my fixes to the official profile.)
OvoParticipant@Ralf: uploading / exporting profiles includes the custom shader authorings?
OvoParticipantThis update erased my (and my friend’s) custom shader tweaking. At least on Rocket League.
By the way, you could fix that game for everyone: about every arena has some light with incorrect stereo, you have to go through each arena in freeplay mode and set those lights to No stereo 3D. There’s also one at the beginning of a boost (if the car was halted), hit escape to pause so you can fix it.
OvoParticipantRalf, I’m sorry you took my message so wrong, there wasn’t any intent of provocation, re-reading it I don’t really see why it was taken that way, but text can often be misinterpreted, especially when coming from non-native speakers like me. I was just trying to provide advice on how to mentally approach the situation in a way that would benefit you and us both based on your expressed sentiment. It was purely positive in my mind.
OvoParticipant> TBH I have become a bit allergic in regard to screen-wishes. No matter how much stuff gets added to the menu, with 100% guarantee two months later someone comes up with yet another absolutely indispensable wish. :)
Well, people are different from each other. I’d try to enjoy cattering to the varied needs of my customers as much as possible rather than being annoyed by them, you’d find your job more pleasant and rewarding this way, and we’d find more satisfaction in using VorpX.
OvoParticipantAye, t’was worth a try.
OvoParticipantThanks
Render Scaling is at 100%, I’ve set all other graphic settings to default, tried medium/high/ultra.
I can’t think of anything unusual. No worries though, I will wait for the official VR support in 11 days.
OvoParticipantPS: Something superfluous is the term “offset” in “Screen distance offset”. It makes the setting sound very technical. I’d name it simply “screen distance”.
OvoParticipantHere’s another strong request for a screen size setting.
The lack of it has been the main recurring control issue I’ve had with VorpX.The past few days I’ve been playing SW Jedi: Fallen Order in Z3D mode and none of the options available let me have the experience I want. The thing with Z3D is that the game world’s infinity plane is basically fixed at screen depth or barely behind. So the only way to have the game’s (stunning) landscapes close enough to infinity is to put the screen far away. But far away, the screen is too small… The other compromise is a big screen but too close so the game world looks tiny and fake. Both options are equally killing the immersion factor. It bothered me enough that this time I shut down the game and came here to post my request. Then I found this thread.
In any case, having the possibility of changing the screen size sounds like something very basic to me. And far from superfluous. To me.
While I agree with the need to not flood everyone with a million options at first sight, I think you (Ralf) actually already found the solution that satisfies everyone: the extra settings are already hidden in the “More screen settings” section. So people who dislike having many options won’t be hurt at all if you add one more setting to this advanced section. It’s there for that. As for those who need the option, they know what they are getting into when clicking on “more settings”.
I think that, in a general way, nobody has ever hated devs for adding more options, as long as they are properly organized and advanced stuff is hidden away from casual users.
A valid reason to not add options is dev time and code maintenance burden, but this option we’re requesting would be really simple code wise, as you acknowledged.About the focus being on VR, alright but 3rd person games won’t fade away anytime soon and AFAIK, full VR mode doesn’t work with them. So to get good immersion with these games (and it’s possible), good screen management is crucial.

Jan 16, 2020 at 12:24am in reply to: Star Wars Republic Commando with RJK’s profile: no depth on many elements #191919OvoParticipantIt works beautifully! Nice work, thanks again.
Was it simple to fix? If it’s not hardcore shader programing maybe I could learn. If so, do you know or have written a guide about it somewhere?
You seem to have a lot more general knowledge about engines, graphics API and stuff than I have, though.Jan 15, 2020 at 6:10pm in reply to: Star Wars Republic Commando with RJK’s profile: no depth on many elements #191911OvoParticipantuse game folder as [gVoodoo2’s] config folder ,set VRAM to 1024
That did it, you’re a master!
There are still a couple big issues though, the night vision mode is broken (cameras diverge or something), same with the sniper rifle zoom mode. I can live with these, by setting the Main Eye option in VorpX and closing my other eye in these modes, but if you want to have a look, here is a save with the sniper rifle: https://framadrop.org/r/A9mI_LDKx9#8QaTB10opuLra8vNllkAd8ez2SoVpvn1AKzHk9fB9VQ=
Use the X and W keys to activate NV and zoom modes.Jan 13, 2020 at 10:30pm in reply to: Star Wars Republic Commando with RJK’s profile: no depth on many elements #191884OvoParticipantAh, I’m using the Steam version, could be this. It’s patched with update 1.0. What about your version?
Thanks a lot for your efforts by the way, I’ll drop you a tip, if I can add your account to my beneficiaries this time. :)
Jan 12, 2020 at 10:40pm in reply to: Star Wars Republic Commando with RJK’s profile: no depth on many elements #191860OvoParticipantMmh, the game crashes at launch for me with your new profile and dgVoodoo 2.55.4, even with a clean install of everything and after rebooting… :/
It doesn’t crash with the latest version of dgV but it’s still rendering flat. -
