RJK_ParticipantTrusted authors dont really need to deal with screenshots, would be nice though ;-) Happy holidays !
RJK_ParticipantYou find the link above in the middle of my post and below “Inofficial List” or click here -> http://rjkole.com/gamestuff/engines . You can submit G3D/Z3D profile screenshots. 2D doesnt make much sense because 2D works already with most games.
RJK_ParticipantThanks for taking the time !
RJK_ParticipantAll that makes me wonder if there would be any further need of increase in resoultion once we made it close or just over the Screendoor Barrier (BTW: great Video !) The brain factor seems to be more important as we may think.
RJK_ParticipantVery intersting. Funny sidenote: I experimented with 3D a lot in the past X years. One day fooling around with an empty toilet paper roll i noticed that the brain is able to constuct a 3D image with just one eye. The trick was to blend out everything else exept the 3D object that was displayed on my monitor for the other eye. I named it “Monofokularstereoskopie”. (german)

RJK_ParticipantAverage human eye resolution is roughly around 60 PPD (pixels per degree),
intersting to read, thanks !
That’s called “supersampling”,
I assume the better image when rendering over the headset resolution is a result of sort of a “wiping out AA more and even more”, not of providing me with more pixels. Having this in mind i wonder how far i could go in resolution in theory on a 1440×1600 display to maximize visuals. I usually play my games around 3200×2880, today i did a quick test on Avatar and Fallout 3 and there was still a noticable improvement in sharpnes and claryity on small detailed objects like letters on guns or stickers on uniforms for example when gaining resolution to 4400×3240 (my current monitor cant take more ;-). The image looks so clear and clean in that resolution so i wonder if a 5 or 8K display ever would provide me with better visuals at the same (locally maximized) resolution.
RJK_ParticipantPerhaps worth reading if you want to buy a Pro 2 https://www.reddit.com/r/Vive/comments/nu9d98/htc_vive_pro_2_summary_of_the_problems_so_far/
RJK_ParticipantLittle update on this game. Its been one of my favorites and with the new image sharpening the game looks even better. Fixed some shader and HUD settings.
Please pay attention to the profile properties window at game start !
– Exclude S2gs.exe from VorpX
– Use Windowed Mode
– Game and Monitor must use same Resolution
– Disable Hardwaremouse
Steam game may require different settingsoops
The game is currently 88% OFF Here
RJK_ParticipantYou already can view SBS images with several supported apps. MPC-HC or VLC for example. Other non VorpX apps i know of: Whirligigg Free, DeoVR, GiszmoVR. 3D Vision had a nice browser plugin one called silverlight which sadly doesnt work anymore. I am not much up to date but perhaps there are easier to handle viewers where i can make an SBS profile for. Stereo Photo Maker (Free) also works with VorpX. http://rjkole.com/gamestuff/VR_game_d.php?VR_game=83&sel=name
RJK_ParticipantDont have the game installed currently, the first thing i would try is windowed if the game has that option. IIRC i solved a “slow game and mouse pointer” this way before.
RJK_ParticipantNote: DGVoodoo2 does not wrap DX11 games, so its not needed for the 2021 game.. There are two profiles. One for the old game from 2001 marked with DGVoodoo2, another one (2021) were you need to use alternate hooking. Since both profiles are DX11 there is a chance of the old profile working with the new game. Havent tried that. Like said , the new one requires alternate hooking.
RJK_ParticipantThings i a can image of: Possibly too high resolution chosen or hardware too weak. Try to disable any advanced graphics options in game. Can not say if the GOG game is the same as from steam. Try windowed if that is available. Hard to say what else could cause this. Did it work in March ?
RJK_ParticipantThe game from 2021 doesnt need any additional downloads or DGVoodoo2.
