RalfKeymasterRecentering the headset should do the trick, either via ALT+SPACE or with the ‘Recenter Tracking’ button in the vorpX menu.
RalfKeymasterThat’s a SteamVR error, not a vorpX error. SteamVR can’t find your headset when vorpX tries to initialize it.
1. Please check whether you have the right headset type selected in the vorpX config app.
2. In case SteamVR is the right type, make sure SteamVR is running.
3. If the above does not help, try to restart SteamVR and your PC and check whether the headset works with other apps.
RalfKeymasterSetting supersampling in the Oculus app has no effect. vorpX works quite a bit different compared to native VR apps. First the game gets rendered at its own resolution, then in a second step vorpX sends the image to the headset. The supersampling set in the Oculus app would theoretically affect the second step, but actually doesn’t since vorpX figures out a suitable resolution for the second step based on the game resolution.
Long story short: all you have to to care about is the game resolution. The higher you set the game res the better quality wise, but obviously you have to keep an eye on performance. Your 1832×1920 are fairly high already.
RalfKeymasterThe HUD scale should stay the same the regardless of the ImageZoom value (unless the dialed in value would make it appear larger than the actual game image). If you prefer something else than what I have dialed in, just change it to whatever you like better.
RalfKeymasterProbably just some framerate hiccup while the games loads initially. Nothing to worry about if the framerate is OK during gameplay.
You can hide the Touch controllers on the according page in the vorpX menu. They will also disappear after a while when they go to sleep. As a third option you could just move them out of sight if you don’t intend to use them.
Normally they shouldn’t even show up unless you press a button first. I’ll check whether something is wrong with that.

RalfKeymasterJust downloaded the latest game update and checked the game. Working fine here. Only thing I can suggest is checking for potential conflicts with other programs that may also hook into games. Basically anything that can show an overlay in games would be a potential candidate, also any CPU/GPU tool. The pinned trouble shooting guide on top of this sub forum has more detailed info on the matter.
BTW: Unless something doesn’t work with native Oculus, native Oculus is the better choice. SteamVR adds an unnecessary layer of overhead with Oculus headsets.
RalfKeymasterYou can’t break anything by setting the registry value. It will probably just be empty if you never used OpenXR before.
Also the other two potential OpenXR runtime hosts (SteamVR and Windows Mixed Reality) allow you to set the registry value from within their options. There is no point in setting SteamVR as OpenXR runtime though with an Oculus headset as that would add yet another layer of redirection, creating even more overhead than using SteamVR directly.
Setting Oculus as OpenXR runtime is the only OpenXR related thing you ever want to do with an Oculus headset.
RalfKeymasterWith the shift mapping I mentioned above there should be enough options available on the Touch controllers.
If there really aren’t, configure the ‘VR Hotkeys’ menu in the vorpX options and then bind shift+mousewheel click to one of the controller buttons, which will then open the menu while you play. Pretty nifty feature, heavily underused. Opens a gaze based 4×4 button matrix that allows you to perform keyboard shortcuts by looking at a button.
RalfKeymasterThere are more than enough options available to bind the ‘V’ key to a button on the Touch controllers. VR controllers have two sets of freely configurable mappings. The second one gets activated while you press the left grip button. You can customize the entire mapping easily in the vorpX menu. Hope that helps.
RalfKeymasterI’m afraid I’m out of ideas then. I don’t have the slightest clue how that would even be possible with the gamepad override active. With the mouse/kb mapper active per default vorpX emulates a mouse button press when you hold down one of the triggers.
Guess until others come up with similar reports I have to book this under ‘strange phenomena’. Just either use mouse/kb or the VR controllers then.
If you want, send me a trouble shoot data archive to support at vorpx com. Only thing I can possibly imagine is that for whatever reason initializing the gamepad override fails on your machine despite it being turned on. The log files may give a hint if that’s the case.
RalfKeymasterPlease try to reset the profile to default in the config app then (either on the ‘Local Profiles’ or the ‘Trouble Shooting’ page). Something has to be messed up for sure. If I understood your issue correctly, you can’t look around while a trigger is held down, right? That does not happen for me with the profile at default settings.
RalfKeymaster@ VRan: Just watched your video an Youtube: did you maybe change the ‘Gamepad Override’ setting in the vorpX menu? The override has to be set to ‘Full’ for the game since it can’t handle mouse (emulated by vorpX for head tracking) and gamepad input at the same time.
Issues like this are actually the reason why vorpX has a built-in gamepad to mouse/keyboard mapper in the first place. It allows to use a gamepad at all together with mouse emulation head tracking in games that dislike simultaneous mouse/gamepad input. Whenever the gamepad override setting is enabled in a profile, it is enabled for good reason. So typically you don’t want to change this setting.

RalfKeymasterCan’t really comment on user profiles normally. Maybe the user profile author forced the positional tracking off for the profile. If so, there probably was good reason for that.
Just a guess though. I’ll check the profile for you within the next few days and let you know my findings.
RalfKeymasterPlease follow the instructions shown in the error message and change the headset type to SteamVR in the vorpX config app (‘General’ page). That should solve the issue.
RalfKeymasterI didn’t customize the VR controller mapping for the game. If you want it to work exactly like the gamepad does per default for the game, you have to customize the button mapping like described above.
Alternatively you can either stick to the gamepad (which has been pre-customized for the game) or use mouse and keyboard.
