RalfKeymastervorpX forces Bioshock Infinite to run windowed for custom resolutions. If you want to play it fullscreen with a resolution higher than your monitor, you have to disable automatic resolution on the DirectVR page of the vorpX menu and then set the resolution manually in the game options.
To make that work you will have to add resolutions to your graphics driver first. A detailed step-by-step guide and a list of resolutions to add can be found in the vorpX help under ‘Custom Resolutions’.
If you just want to use fullscreen because of potential mouse issues, you could also just use your VR controllers set to gamepad emulation in vorpX instead (or a gamepad of course).
RalfKeymasterAre you using a gaming laptop by any chance? If so you will have to disable your integrated GPU. Desktop apps like MPC-HC or VLC almost certainly won’t run on the dedicated GPU unless you disable the integrated GPU.
Not all laptops may allow to disable the integrated GPU unfortunately. If you are unsure, check whether you can find such an option in your BIOS or graphics driver control panel.

RalfKeymasterThat’s not really something that is officially supported. I’m sure other users got this configuartion working in the past, but apart from that I don’t know much about RiftCat.
You will have to make RiftCat emulate a SteamVR headset and vorpX set to SteamVR mode, that much is certain. Also SteamVR has to be installed and running. How exactly you have to configure RiftCat is not something I can answer unfortunately.
If you can’t make it work, send a mail to support |at| vorpx com and we will figure something out for you.
RalfKeymasterPlease make sure that you use installed versions of both players, vorpX can’t change the player settings if you portable versions.
If you use portable versions or vorpX’s auto settings fail for some other resons, you might be able to get the profiles working by selecting the right output type manually.
for VLC that would be OpenGL, for MPC-HC ‘Enhanced Video Renderer (custom presenter)’
RalfKeymasterI read all messages on the forum. If you don’t get a reply, then there isn’t really any useful answer to a question. I answer what I can.
Providing support for videos that are not encoded with proper rotation is out vorpX’s scope unfortunately. vorpX is mainly meant to play games in your headset, the video player support is pretty much a free add-on. Maybe there is some dedicated VR video player that allows to do that, although personally I’m not aware of one.
What *might* work is using the vorpX desktop viewer instead of the dedicated MPC-HC profile. To do that launch the desktop viewer and then disable the vorpX watcher from the tray icon’s right click menu before launching MPC-HC.
RalfKeymasterSounds like a broken/incomplete installation, there should also be ‘SteamVR’ and ‘Oculus’ devices normally. Please try a full reinstall, that will probably fix your issue.
RalfKeymasterAlmost certainly related to some invasive AV scanner. Try to exclude the vorpX program folder (Typically: C:\Program Files (x86)\Animation Labs\vorpX).
If that doesn’t help, consider switching to Windows Defender. Just as good, less hassle. Windows Defender kicks in automatically on Windows 10 when you remove redundant third party AV programs.
RalfKeymasterProbably related to Direct VR positional tracking, something similar can happen when you sit down on a chair for example. Two potential solutions:
1. Disable the positional part of DirectVR on the DirectVR page of the vorpX menu, default G3D pos tracking will still be available. So if you play with G3D that’s probably the best option.
2. Alternatively you can temporarily disable DirectVR entirely with ALT-K before using a terminal. The shortcut can be changed in the config app.
RalfKeymasterAdding -dx9 to the game’s launch options in Steam should do the trick. It recently got a DX11 renderer, but the vorpX profile is still DX9 only.
I didn’t have a chance to check DX11 yet. If possible the vorpX profile will be updated to DX11, as always no promises though.
RalfKeymasterI’m pretty sure I gave you the same answer at least two or three times now when you asked whether some game is supported:
You can easily check yourself whether a game is supported in the vorpX config app on the ‘Local Profiles’ page.
If you can’t find a game there, chances are that a user did one, which you can check on the ‘Cloud Profiles’ page.
If there is no profile at all, most games will still work to some degree, but usually only in 2D (unless you create a user profile yourself).
RalfKeymasterSome games may not work well with framerates >60fps, sounds like such a case. Forcing FluidSync on might help.
RalfKeymasterPlease simply select your preferred quality in the vorpX menu in Fallout 3. You don’t have to care about anything else.
Whenever vorpX can set the resolution it shows an according message in the top left corner of the game window and you can select a preferred quality in the vorpX menu. That is the case for Fallout 3 and there is nothing else you have to do.
If vorpX can’t handle resolutions, you set them manually in the game options like you would normally when playing a game on a your monitor.
RalfKeymasterShort update on the matter: you will only have to care about SteamVR’s motion smoothing setting until next week.
With the next version all will work again as it is supposed to without you having to change anything in the SteamVR options.
RalfKeymasterGames run at the resolution you set (or vorpX in case of games where it can do that). In your case Fallout 3 runs with the 2660*2128 you see in the ini.
The preset you select in the vorpX menu does not necessarily translate 1:1 to the actual game res. When vorpX computes the final res various settings are factored in. Hence the hint in the menu that says the actual res may differ.
TLDR: All is well and working as it is supposed to.
RalfKeymasterSorry in advance if not all of your detailed questions will be answered, I‘ll concentrate on those that look more important to me.
You don‘t need to care about limiting FPS.
Downloaded profiles are active as soon as as you import them.
VorpX changes the game resolution if possible. As you already discovered you can choose a preferred quality in the vorpX menu. In other games go as high as you think makes sense. Keep an eye on performance though! A super high resolution is worth nothing at 20fps.
DSR: Use custom resolutions instead.
Running games windowed can make sense sometimes if you encounter problems with a game running fullscreen, but there is no general answer to your question.
SteamVR supersampling does not help, actually it‘s factored out. vorpX first renders the game at its own res and then in a second pass renders the game to the headset, the headset resolution is determined by vorpX. For better image quality you have to change the game res, not the SteamVR res.
Hope that answers your most important points.
