RalfKeymasterWhile personally I also consider this one of vorpX’s most useful features, it’s unfortunately probably also its most underused.
I have overhauling it on the nice-to-have list for a long time, but the (apparently at least) lack of general interest in the feature makes it a difficult to decision to spend time on it. It’s not forgotten though, so maybe at some point I will get to it again.

RalfKeymasterJust a heads-up that using vorpX with dgVoodoo2 may result in a black screen with the current vorpX release. Will be fixed with the next vorpX update 20.1.0 in a few days.
RalfKeymasterI tested the game for you yesterday. Unfortunately I can not replicate your issue, G3D works perfectly fine. Also no other reports of something like this.
If you changed any vorpX settings, please try to reset the profile to default in the config app (‘Local Profiles’ page).
And just in case: if you happen to use a non-Steam version of the game, please use the Steam version.

RalfKeymastervorpX has no native DX8 support, but it has a profile for the dgVoodoo2 wrapper. No guarantee that it will work, but for some DX8 games it does. If it works, this method provides full G3D.
First you will have to download the dgVoodoo2 wrapper and isntall it by copying its DX8 DLL to your game folder.
Then you can create a custom profile:
1. Open the config app
2. Go to the “Local Profiles” page
3. Scroll down to the “dgVoodoo2” profile and make a copy of it.
4. Assign your game’s main .exe to the new profile. If that generally works, you can then use vorpX’s shader authoring to deal with potential glitches if necessary. A short introduction to that can be found in the vorpX help.
RalfKeymasterThe judder issue in FS2019 is related to the Steam overlay as I incidentally found out a few days ago. Neither vorpX’s default blocking method nor disabling it is enough though, the overlay has to be blocked the hard way. vorpX will handle that automatically in the next version.
For now navigate to your Steam folder and rename or delete GameOverlayRenderer64.dll after starting Steam. You will have to do that every time you launch Steam since it replaces the DLL on launch if it is missing.
RalfKeymasterif you still have problems with the forum, it’s probably best to contact the authors of the forum software. It’s a quite popular WordPress plugin named bbPress (bbpress.org). They had a major update earlier this year, so maybe there are still some things to iron out.
RalfKeymasterI’m pretty sure I replied to your mail. IIRC you mentioned that you already disabled your antivirus, but this issue is almost certainly related to your AV program. if you use anything else than Windows Defender, try to uninstall it for testing.
Some AV programs make it rather difficult for their users to fully disable them, just disabling the scanner may not be enough.
RalfKeymasterLast time I checked it was. I’ll check it before the next release to see whether something has changed.
BTW: It would be nice if you could check which sub forum your questions fit best into and then post there. That helps to keep the forum usable for yourself as well as others. Thanks again!
Edit: Just checked it, it’s still really G3D.

RalfKeymastervorpX does not change the sound device when you uncheck this option.
SteamVR and Oculus however do this also. In case of SteamVR you can disable it in the SteamVR options IIRC.
RalfKeymasterYou can uncheck the “Use built in audio” checkbox in the vorpX config app if you don’t want to handle vorpX audio.
RalfKeymasterThe build number shows 18363.535 here, but it’s not an insider build. Just the most recent regular Windows 10.
RalfKeymasterDoes it work for you when you don’t have vorpX running?
Incidentally I checked the game two days ago while playtesting the next vorpX release. Crashed for me with or without vorpX, so I figured it has to be some general issue after some recent graphics driver or Windows 10 update or so and didn’t ivestigate further.
RalfKeymasterThere will be a new device type named ‘Generic 3D TV/Monitor’ in the next vorpX with normal side by side stereo output. However, this will not be officially supported. vorpX is built for VR, all profiles are made with VR in mind, and some of them will only work as intended in VR. There are no plans to change this focus on VR.
So you will be able use vorpX with your 3D TV without workarounds, but you are basically on your own when you do so. No official support of any kind will be provided for this mode.
RalfKeymasterLittle change of plans: although I’m always hesitant to add more buttons and stuff to the options menu you will now have full control over every relevant aspect of the ambience effect. After clicking the ‘More Immersive Settings’ button you can handle it individually for gameplay/EdgePeek and you also will be able to change its brightness instead of just having an on/off switch. Same for FullVR mode.
That should pretty much satisfy everyone’s preferences in this regard while still largely maintaining the simplicity of the main UI.
