RalfKeymasterNo problem here in a brief test. I’ll check a bit more thorough later.
Please try the usual supects: resetting the graphics settings to default, NOT disabling vorpX DirectVR auto settings, enabling/disabling AA.
RalfKeymasterCurrently not, but I’ll come up with something for the next release, maybe fading it out after 10secs or so.
RalfKeymasterJust to clarify: You will benefit from this IMMENSELY even if you don’t do profiles yourself. Not immediately, but in the months after the feature is fully fleshed out. This is truly huge.
And yes, as always there will also be some new profiles. Not much going on in terms of good candidates recently though, so hopefully the almost 300 officially supported games plus more than 500 available user profiles will keep you entertained :).
RalfKeymasterPlease check the post I linked above. It’s about exactly this issue, which was introduced by the latest GTA V update.
RalfKeymasterI’m unaware of any server issue. There is an issue though with the config app logging out prematurely after a few minutes, will (hopefully) be gone with the next update. For now please logout/login before uploading a profile and see whether that helps.
Apart from that: does the error message you see contain any additional info? E.g. an error code or something about the reason of the failure?
RalfKeymasterG3D parameters are exactly the same for each headset. It is technically impossible for G3D to be broken on one headset but not on another one. Either it works or it doesn’t, does not depend on the headset in any way.
RalfKeymasterPlease check this post for FOV instructions/workarounds with the latest GTA V version.
RalfKeymasterAs someone pointed out some time ago, there seeems to be a way to add custom resolutions higher than your monitor allows for AMD cards. It’s too hacky though to include in the official instructions. Not for the faint at heart.
RalfKeymasterThanks guys, always nice to read something like this every now and then. Don’t overdo it with the praise though or one day I might be inclined to believe it and stop improving vorpX. ;)
RalfKeymasterThe list linked above is inaccurate, outdated and incomplete. Please do not rely on it in any way. More games than on this list support one ore more DirectVR features.
RalfKeymaster@ lipplog:
When you use the VR mod make sure to max out the ‘Image Zoom’ slider in the vorpX menu. The mod does not consider vorpX’s image zoom setting when it calculates its FOV.
@ all
Auto-changing the FOV does not work anymore with the latest GTA V version unfortunately. I’ll see what can be done, but I’m not sure whether it can be restored.
For now you basically have three options:
Use the grandtheftvr mod and max out ‘ImageZoom’ in vorpX. The latter is important for a correct FOV with the mod currently.
OR
Set ‘Play Style’ to ‘Immersive Screen Mode’ in the vorpX menu. ‘Immersive Screen Mode’ does not require a perfectly matched FOV.
OR
To play in FullVR mode without the mod max out ‘First Person On Foot FOV’ in the game’s ‘Camera’ options and in vorpX set ‘Image Zoom’ to 0.52. Not ideal since it introduces top/bottom bars, but works fine. The upshot is higher pixel density (better image quality). If vorpX doesn’t apply one automatically, set a 16:9 resolution for maximum image width with this method.

RalfKeymasterThe installer is a common third party installer used by literally thousands of applications. If it fails to expand your ‘Documents’ folder location correctly, something has to be messed up. All I can recommend is trying to temporarily set the folder path to the default location for the installation. The only file currently installed there by vorpX is an optional background image for cinema mode.
Might be worth it to find a permanent solution though for the messed up environment variable expansion as this issue probably will affect other applications too. Also once installed vorpX accesses the ‘Documents’ folder sometimes to optimize game settings. I have no idea whether vorpX itself will suffer from the same problem as the installer, but if it also fails due to your broken setup, some of vorpX’s auto game configuration features would not work for you.
BTW: Might be unrelated, but get rid of Norton AV. One of those AV programs that may prevent vorpX from hooking games correctly. Windows built-in Defender is less invasive and at least as good these days.

RalfKeymasterThis error indicates that an internal Windows function fails that should never fail on a normally configured Windows.
Please check whether you maybe have some “security” feature in your AV software activated that blocks access to your ‘Documents’ folder by obfuscating it. Might be called ‘Protected Folders’ or similar depending on your AV software. If so either disable this feature or allow the installer to access your ‘Documents’ folder.
If that is not the issue, please check whether your Windows user’s ‘Documents’ folder is set up correctly, i.e. not set to an unavailable network drive or something similarly invalid.
RalfKeymasterThe game is not officially supported.
That said, the game’s FOV slider should provide a large enough range to get the FOV right with ImageZoom set to 1.0 IIRC. If that is not the case with your individual setup for some reason the usual way to fix FOV in FullVR mode is slightly lowering the ImageZoom value. Should not be necessary though in this case.
Alternatively you can play the game in immersive screen mode, which does not require the FOV to fit the headset FOV, or maybe use one of the other potential workarounds listed in the ‘Essential Hints Guide’ in the help if one exists.
RalfKeymasterThe game itself has an option to change the FOV in its options menu (assuming you are talking about the Doom remake from 2016).
