Thanks for checking. If you think the scale is off in a G3D game, you can easily adjust it with the ‘3D-Strength/Scale’ option. Everything from virtually being ~30cm small (high 3D-Strength) to 30m big (low 3D-Strength) is possible in terms of percieved scale.

Default parameters are usually dialed in so that they provide pretty much natural scale though. However, profile makers (me included) aren’t infallible, hence you can adjust the scale any way you like within an extremely wide margin if you think it’s off.

Gone Home has no memory scan. DirectVR is more than just the memory scanner. In many games (Gone Home included) DirectVR sets the FOV via editing the game’s config file, not with the memory scanner.

    Glad you solved it finally.

If I had to guess, in your case I wouldn’t entirely rule out the latter option. :)

BTW: Not a good idea anymore to copy DLLs in a system folder manually these days in general. Even if the ‘bitness’ is correct, many Microsoft DLLs compiled for Win 8 or 10 will flatout not work on Windows 7 due to dependencies on other DLLs or system components. One can’t even safely swap many DLLs between different Windows 10 versions.

Please note that the below is an assumption, to be 100% sure I will need a device, so take everything I say below with a grain of salt. I’ll pre-order an Index as soon as pre-orders are open, although somehow I have a feeling that similar to Pimax 5K/8K it will pretty much stay a niche headset at the announced price.

That said, unless the canted display design of the headset doesn’t introduce any issues, the headset should work out of the box with no changes required on vorpX’s end. I don’t really expect that to be an issue though, Valve will probably handle it similar to Pimax who are offering a compatibility setting for apps that work with parallel cameras.

The Index controllers will probably work in a limited way out of the box, acting as Vive wands. Full support will be added as soon as possible.

If you don’t consider the ~$500 price difference to the Rift S spare money, I’d say the Rift S might be the better choice. If you can afford the Index relatively easy, things are different, of course.

All profiles visible on the ‘Local Profiles’ page are automatically active, you don’t have to apply them.

If you haven’t done so already, please check the section about conflicting programs in the trouble shooting guide above. A conflict with some other other program on your PC that also hooks into games is the most likely cause of problems like yours.

If the system doesn’t know the mail address, a key request has to be processed manually, which can take a little longer.

I was able to link your request to your purchase now, your key should arrive shortly.

They are probably limited to suit their true purpose of being floating “screens”

Pretty much this, but you can use the good old lean-back-30cm-and-hit-ALT+SPACE-trick, which gets you closer than the max if you want to.

Get Even, The Turing Test, Conarium are worth a shot. With some luck you might even be able to carry over DirectVR head tracking with one of them.

All three nice matches for vorpX in itself BTW. Relatively slow gameplay with gorgeous graphics (especially Get Even).

Caveat: DirectVR auto resolution currently only supports up to 1680p, so if a profile has support for DirectVR auto resolution, you have to disable this feature on the DirectVR page of the vorpX menu. If you don’t see a DirectVR page in the vorpX menu or this page does not have an option to turn off auto resolution, you don’t have to do anything.

Try a lower refresh rate (e.g. standard 60Hz). 2880×2160 at 144Hz is probably too much.

You can create basically any 4:3 resolution that your GPU driver accepts. Common examples would be 2400×1800, 2560×1920 or 2880×2160, but you can also use everything else that your GPU supports.

Keep in mind though that newer games mostly will run not fast enough with such high resolutions.

You can use any resolution that you can add in the nVidia control panel provided the game allows to use it. vorpX does not impose any restrictions on its own.

I’m thinking of something more sophisticated, i.e. the database keeping track of overrides. Unfortunately that’s a bit more complex to implement than I first imagined given how profile management is done, but should be doable in a day or two.

Good stuff, guys. One of the very few games that I had always on my HD since I played it first 20 years ago.

Incidentally I’m right now trying a few things to make your life easier in regard to .exe conflicts with official profiles. The plan is to allow overrides by user profiles and just show a message on game start in that case. Would enable you to freely override any official profile. Less experienced users would still be protected from messing up the profile database without even noticing it though. Best of both worlds.

Please enable “Parallel Projections” in PiTool, that will get rid of your double vision issues. Also set everything else up as suggested by the guide above.

How to add custom resolutions to your PC is described here.

Sometime next month. Don’t have a clear idea yet when exactly as there are still a bunch of new profiles to add.
