RalfKeymasterIt’s not gamepad only. Some people played FO3/NV roomscale with Touch/Vive controllers for dozens of hours. Both games also work with mouse and keyboard, of course. Make sure to disable your gamepad in the game’s options menu if you want to use mouse and keyboard. Bethesda RPGs deactivate mouse/keyboard input while the gamepad is active, with or without vorpX.
For menus and conversations it’s best to switch to EdgePeek mode, which allows you to look around the screen while using static menus or watching cutscenes, making these situations a lot more comfortable. EdgePeek can be activated via: mouse: wheel click, gamepad: thumbstick click or VR controller: grip button click.
The above hint and other basics worth knowing can also be found in the “Quickstart Guide” and the “Essential Hints Guide” in the vorpX help.
RalfKeymasterSince WMR controllers have a thumbstick instead of the Vive controller’s touchpad you have to switch the “Trackpad Mode Right” option on the “Vive Hand Controller” page of the vorpX ingame menu from “Trackpad” to “Thumbstick” to use your WMR controller in the intended manner.
RalfKeymasterThe game has been removed from the supported games list since Stereo 3D had to be disabled after a large NMS update some time ago. Unfortunately it now uses newer OpenGL features that are not covered by vorpX.
Head tracking and DirectVR FOV are still functional though, so the game is playable in full VR mode without much configuration. Works quite well provided you can live without stereo 3D, which is why the profile is still available despite the game not being officially supported anymore.
RalfKeymasterSince the game is not supported by vorpX you would have to make your own profile or check whether – with some luck – another user already made one.
IMPORTANT: custom user profiles *may* work but they don’t necessarily have to.
To check for existing user profiles:
1. Go to the “Cloud Profiles” page in the config app.
(2.) Create an account if you didn’t do so already.
3. Enter the first few letters of your game’s name into the “Game/App” field
4. Import the profile provided one exists. To make your own profile:
1. Try to find out which 3d engine your game is based on.
2. Search the local profile list in the config app for games based on the same version of that 3d engine.
3. Make a copy of such a profile and apply your game’s main .exe to it.If it works, this procedure can enable basic stereo 3d for unsupported games. It’s not guaranteed to work though.
RalfKeymasterThe No. 1 cause of hooking issues is other software on your PC that also hooks into games. Most likely candidates are: virus scanners, CPU/GPU utilities, video capture/streaming programs, chat programs and generally everything that can display notifications in games.
The best way to trouble shoot such an issue is to disable/uninstall programs running in the background.
Additional information about some less common potential causes of hooking issues can be found in the trouble shooting guide in the vorpX help.
RalfKeymasterI shouldn’t have mentioned a timeline, sorry for that. Always a bad idea. It will be done “when it’s done”, but you won’t have to wait too long anymore. Please keep in mind that it was the WoW update that broke things.
Thanks for your patience.
RalfKeymasterYes, there is. I already mentioned it above as well as in the e-mail I sent you earlier. Apart from disabling BitDefender’s general AV functionality you also need to disable its “Advanced Threat Protection”.
If you can’t find that or doing so is still not enough, please try to uninstall BitDefender at least briefly for testing purposes. If that helps, and it likely will, you know what caused your problem.
Windows Defender is just as good these days, but far less invasive and annoying.
RalfKeymasterNo, you don’t need the vorpX desktop viewer.
Please try to uninstall BitDefender as suggested above. It’s the No.1 troublemaker AV program in regard to vorpX since forever and quite difficult to disable. Uninstalling makes sure it really is fully disabled.
When you uninstall it, Windows Defender will kick in instead. Third party AV programs in general are pretty much unnecessary these days.
RalfKeymasterJudging from the logfiles you sent vorpX never hooks into KCD. Try to launch the game directly from your Windows desktop without using the vorpX desktop viewer. That will probably solve the issue.
If not, also make sure to disable the “Advanced Threat Protection” in BitDefender or – better – switch to Windows Defender. Windows Defender provides good protection without being as invasive as some other AV scanners.
And last but not least it might make sense to remove the “Gigabyte Easy Tuning Service”. Tools like this tend to hook into games similar to vorpX, which can cause conflicts.
RalfKeymasterPlease try to launch the game normally two or three times, afterwards create a trouble shoot data archive in the config app and send that to support |at| vorpx com.
No promises, but maybe I can find something suspicious in your log files.
RalfKeymaster1. Right click the vorpX tray icon.
2. Choose “Create desktop shortcut”
3. Browse to the game’s main .exePlease note that in case of KCD this probably only makes a difference for the GOG version. With Steam games shortcuts rarely have any advantages due to the way Steam loads itself before the actual game starts.
RalfKeymasterThe above video is based on a recent 2018 vorpX version and more in-depth in detailed than everything we could have provided ourselves. There are a few inaccuracies, but it’s still great.
Regarding the two games you tried:
For Bioshock make sure to use the original game, not the remaster, and add ‘-dx9’ to the launch options in Steam. Bioshock (the original in DX9 mode) has pretty much all the bells and whistles that vorpX has to offer. This is a very good game to start with since it requires zero manual configuration.
For Fear 2 please make sure that you use the Steam version of the game. With older games like this one there is a certain chance that other versions aren’t detected correctly. Some old CD versions might use a main .exe that is named differently for example, which would prevent vorpX from loading the correct profile.
RalfKeymasterOne other thing: please check whether you maybe inadvertantly checked the “Never change any game settings” option in the config app.
This option is meant for trouble shooting only and should never be checked under normal circumstances. Doing so globally disables most DirectVR functionality.
RalfKeymasterJust checked this for you. Your issue can’t be replicated here, the “3D-Reconstruction” option in the vorpX menu can be switched to “Geometry 3D” as it is supposed to be. Also no other reports of such an issue so far.
Please double check whether the profile exists in your local profile database and that the game’s .exe is named “kingdomcome.exe”.
Apart from that all I can recommend is reinstalling vorpX and the game.
RalfKeymasterThree possible issues:
1. Your profile database is corrupt. Try to reset it on the trouble shooting page of the config app.
2. You renamed the game’s .exe file. Has to be “kingdomcome.exe”, otherwise vorpX can’t find the correct profile.
3. Just in case, not suggesting anything: you are using a pirated copy of the game. In some cases these may come with loaders that prevent vorpX from hooking correctly.
