RalfKeymasterYou need Cyberpunk updated to 1.5 and the latest mod version.
An older Cyberpunk with the latest mod or Cyberpunk 1.5 with an older mod will both cause what you see.
If you have Cyberpunk 1.5 and the latest mod and it still doesn’t work, try to uninstall the mod first before reinstalling. Shouldn’t be necessary, but can’t hurt.
RalfKeymasterI’m out of ideas, sorry.
Please double and triple and check whether you maybe have some tool running that also hooks into games. From your description it seems as if the initial hook works, but then something goes wrong, which sounds and awful lot like something that can happen when another programs also hooks into the graphics pipeline.
RalfKeymasterDon’t use SteamVR for WMR headsets. Even if it works, it’s quite juddery. Make sure that WMR is your OpenXR runtime (the WMR portal will complain if its not), then select ‘OpenXR’ in the little config tool that comes with the mod.
Caveat: Don’t accidentally make SteamVR your system’s OpenXR runtime! Use the native WMR OpenXR. SteamVR shouldn’t run at all.
RalfKeymasterThe resolution change is on purpose.
Make sure to read the instructions that are displayed in the headset! Among other things they also explain how to set a higher resolution, with a 3080 that should be possible.
RalfKeymasterNot all profiles have a scalable HUD. That has to be done per game and also may occasionally break when games get an update.
vorpX comes with a workaround for that though in the form of its ‘EdgePeek’ function, which briefly zooms out the view. You can invoke that either by pressing the mouse wheel, the right gamepad thumbstick or the right grip button on motion controllers.
Also useful for using menus or watching cutscenes.
RalfKeymasterWeird. Is there a file named version.dll in [CP2077]\bin\x64? That’s the main DLL from the Cyber Engine Tweaks modding frame work that does the inital hook. This version.dll should have a modfication date 2022/02/16 if it belongs to latest CET version.
Just to be sure please also check whether there maybe is a d3d12.dll, d3d11.dll or dxgi.dll in the same folder. If so remove them. Those would be interfering leftovers e.g. from Reshade.
Also please check whether your Cyberpunk version is actually 1.5. You can see that in the main menu.
RalfKeymasterIf you have other mods installed, please try without any other mods. Some (e.g. Reshade) may interfere since they override the same functions that the VR mod overrides.
If you have any tools running that hook into games (GPU/CPU tweak tools, FPS counter, chat apps etc.), disable them. Those might also get in the way.
Also please check whether the mod has been installed in the right folder. Browse to [CP2077]\bin\x64\plugins. in that folder you should see a file named vpxCP2077.asi, another one named cyber_engine_tweaks.asi and two similarly named folders. If these files/folders are missing, the mod has not been installed correctly.
Last but least: If you happen to use any other antivirus program than Windows Defender: get rid of it.
RalfKeymaster@ thealx:
Normally just running the update should suffice, but if in doubt try to remove the prior mod version first and then reinstall. Not entirely impossible that the install failed for one or the other reason. The mod version number shown in the game window should be ‘alpha5a’, the ‘a’ indicates that the latest version is installed.
@ drowhunter:
The Index grip release sensitivity essentially is already ‘no force’ now. Actually 5% to account for potential sensor problems, but that doesn’t really make a difference. Thanks again for the idea.
A punch gesture exists. As far as I’m aware the game only has one melee action though and randomly decides what it actually does when you perform a melee attack. So the punch gesture doesn’t really do anything different than the other melee gestures, it’s just there to add more variety. If there is a way to reliably perform a dedicated punch move in the game, let me know. I’d be more than happy to bind that to the punch gesture.
I tinkered with hand aiming while the ADS gesture is active, and it works while you are actually aiming, BUT: …Edit:
Well, after writing the above it dawned on me that it was only true before pitch leveling had been added…
I uploaded a new build with ADS hand aiming enabled (unless you turned off pitch leveling in the menu). Head aim still also works to stay consistent with non-ADS aiming, hands can be used for fine grained control on top.
RalfKeymasterOn a sidenote: Looks as if 1.5 uses a newer DLSS version now that appears to be considerably better than the one the game used before.
New graphics detail recommendation for RTX cards: still leave raytracing off, but set DLSS to ‘Balanced’ and then crank up the resolution as high as your GPU allows. With an RTX 3080 at medium graphics details that yields playable framerates (even in crowded areas) at 2400p, which looks completely awesome.
RalfKeymasterThat was a lot quicker than expected. I was just about to go to bed when I saw it…
The mod update is also ready. Just installing the new CET version isn’t fully enough, the scalable HUD also had to be redone in addition to that, so you have to reinstall the mod.
You can grab the new version here (includes the updated CET).
RalfKeymasterGlad you got it sorted.
RalfKeymasterJust a heads-up that the mod is NOT COMPATIBLE WITH PATCH 1.5 currently. Should work again as soon as the Cyber Engine Tweaks modding framework gets updated for Cyberpunk 1.5.
RalfKeymasterDon’t know yet, downloading right now. Probably not though, the mod uses the Cyber Engine Tweaks modding framework and that is highly unlikely to still work after a huge game patch.
I’ll let you know as soon as I know for sure in an hour or so. For the time being I’d recommend to delay the update. If it breaks the VR mod, it also breaks all other mods that use CET.
RalfKeymasterThe config app itself doesn’t do anything GPU related, but the Microsoft DotNet framework uses the GPU to draw the application window.
RalfKeymasterLooks graphics driver related. amdxn32.dll appears to belong to the AMD Radeon graphics driver.
