zhdunParticipant
uhm, there is no question in my post. Just reporting what doesn’t yet work.
I know it just released, but please put it on your priorities Ralf, this is one of the most played games today. There are currently 23000 playing on steam. Its more then 4x the amount of playing Flight Simulator which is game of the year.
zhdunParticipantyea it works. Ive got g3d in medieval now thanks for sharing.
two things that confuses me.
1. Additional fov and camera height breaks the shadows. Puting those parameters to zero fixed most shadow glitches for me. With additional fov it casts some weird looking shadow coverage all over the place when looking down. With additional fov 0 this is not the case.2. for some reason headset sync is dropping dramatically and tries to match the fps wich is between 30 and 50. I didn’t see that in other games. Usually headset fps is fixed to whatever i set in steam. When it starts tanking down to below 40 it creates annoying tearing effect.
Tried to play with headset sync options and disabling/enabling flood sync. Only on headset option “fast” im getting about double headset fps over game fps, its little better but still annoying.
using valve index.
zhdunParticipantI have a suspicion that you might be assigning the wrong exe to your profiles. Unreal 4 games are sneaky in that the main directory has an exe (Medieval_Dynasty.exe), but the actual exe is buried in the Binaries\Win64 folder (Medieval_Dynasty-Win64-Shipping.exe).
I have figured that out actually im hooking to that file. It hooks in also, there is a vorpx logo on startup in game and also if i change parameters in Z3D mode i see that it has effect.
But thanks for sharing your g3d profile, gonna check it out now and report how it worked. Btw, what profile did you use as template? I tried through about 15 profiles with no luck.
zhdunParticipantna, for subzero there are separate profiles. Subzero is also not an addon, its on its own, basically subnautica 2.
zhdunParticipantCTRL + ALT + F
zhdunParticipant@Ralf when it happens, it still picks up tracking from headset. Just the image is lost. But when headset is moved, you can see the head movement still being picked up on the main screen.
zhdunParticipantok thanks.
zhdunParticipantyes, i understand the reason. So there is basically nothing we can do ybout it but playing around with z3d settings? Its just in some games where you have a wind shield in front of you it gets realy annoying.
zhdunParticipantThe performance drop in G3D mode significantly depends on the game, or better said on the game engine used.
In example Farming Simulator 2019 (Giants engine), G3D is a total performance killer. I can run it with Z3D on my rig maxed out graphics settings and 1680p resoultion stable with 60fps. In G3D lowest possible settings and 768p resolution it looks like a mess and barely exceeds 10fps.
On some other games which run on unreal engine performance drops only about 30% in G3D without the need to reduce graphics or resolution absolutely ok.
zhdunParticipantdo i get it right, that for games with official profiles, you can only import/export settings, but you cannot create a custom profile (i.e. based on another games profile)?
zhdunParticipantbump!
same problem here. Was using official profile for farming simulator 2019 and decided to create my own based on official one. I can create a local copy, but when i try to assign it to .exe a popup comes up saying that that exe is already assigned. I don’t see a way to remove the assignment.
zhdunParticipantdon’t know the game either, but i can tell something about farming simulator 2019 which also supports 6dof track ir.
When using vorpx in Z3D mode there is only 2 DOF, like standard mouse look. But as you switch to G3D mode it enables 6 DOF with VR headset. I was surprised myself that it worked, didn’t have to do anything extra it turned it on by itself. But only in G3D.
zhdunParticipantthats strange. Last time i used it was maybe 3 years ago, at least on my machine it didn’t cost me much performance. Realy maybe 10-15% no more. Almost not noticable for most of the games that i played. Including FS19. I was running it on same machine at max resolution and max graphic settings with 60 fps with nvidia 3d vision. Now same game, same machine with vorpx its a whole different story.
However i have noticed already that the performance drop with vorpx can vary for different games. Tried Green Hell, losing only about 30% and can still play it well with high res and medium graphics. Now with the basic unity profile that i created for stationeers there is also not much performance loss for me, absolutelly playable. Maybe its just FS19 that performs so bad with vorpx in G3D mode, after all they use their own engine. It may have supported nvidia out of the box (there were no any glitches with nvidia).
Feb 23, 2021 at 11:21pm in reply to: How to create a new profile for not yet supported game? #200696zhdunParticipanti can of course just switch off shadows in the games options, and the glitches go away, but i want to try to preserve them. For stationeers shadows is not just eye candy. Shadows cast on solar panel in example affect its output, so you better don’t place solar panels in shady places.
zhdunParticipantAppretiating Ralf too. I found more shadow glitches, so gonna try to fix them too before publishing the profile. Those seem to be less trivial but lets see.
