The aspect ratio modes are just presets for Image Zoom. If you need finer grained control, Image Zoom does the exact same thing.

I imported your profile to vropX’s “Local Profiles”, it showed up as Black Mesa with bms.exe as the executable program.

Both VorpControl.exe and VorpControl64.dat processes were running.

I tried different resolutions including 800×600 and even tried different directX versions by running the game with the command “-dxlevel XX” (can be used with version 80, 81, 90, 95 or 98).

You have an Oculus and I’m using a Vive. Looks like it just doesn’t work with the Vive.

Thank you for taking your time to try to help! I guess for now the game is just not compatible with the Vive, despite being listed as compatible.

Error code 2 means that vorpX can’t find its profile directory.

Are you maybe using an unusual configuration? Installing vorpX with a user that does not have admin rights may cause this issue. Probably the first run after the installation is done with admin rights in this case, hence it works for the first run.

If that is the case, please give the user admin rights for installing vorpX in the Windows control panel. You can restrict the users rights again after the installation.

    Quote from Ralf.

I forgot to tell you to give administrator role to the created user.

Did you ? (Do it using your regular account, then log back with the new account.
Then uninstall vorpx, then reinstall it with right click run as administrator.
    Then launch it.

    Let s see.

    Hi,

did you import my profile into your local profil repository ?

    and so :

could you check if you have in task manager vorpcontrol.exe and vorpcontrol64.dat processes running ?

and last but not least : in orginal profile (Vorpx one) it tries to detect hl2.exe . but in fact black mesa is using another exe on my side BMsomething.exe that s yhy I created to profile.

on my side, I first started the game normally (without vorpx), then set graphics option in 800×600 in windows mode 4:3 . then I closed the game and loaded oculus , then vorpx, then Black mesa (through steam)

it is the way I followed to run it in my rift

It runs fine on my PC. I even have the Steam overlay on because OBSE needs it.
One idea to check is the resolution it is trying to run at. If you have a custom resolution specified in the ini file is it added in the Nvidia control panel?

I just gave Ori and the Blind Forest a try today with the Vive.
vorpX had no trouble hooking into the game. But I was only able to get Virtual Cinema mode to work with it.
    My steps:

  • 1 start steam
    2 start steam vr
    3 start vorpX
    4 launch game from steam
5 put on headset and bring up vorpX settings
    6 set Cinema mode
7 set Lock Head Tracking on
8 change vorpX and game settings to your preferences.
  • Geometry 3D mode: not supported
    Z-Normal 3D mode: not supported
    Virtual Cinema mode: supported

On the Vive the game looked very nice and played very well using keyboard/mouse and 360 controller; Some very minor screen door effects on Ori’s body when perfectly still. all and all no good reason to, or not to, play the game in or out of VR.

Thanks for getting back to me.
I have tried using the head tracking scan and it does indeed reset and the head tracking which is highly optimised but for some reason it completely disables my Xbox controller unless I restart the game.

Additionally is there a way to disable or change the hotkey button as if I click into the LS stick to sprint it ends up open the VR hotkey panel. I also have the same when I crouch with the right stick and it opens the peek mode.

Hi,

I create this post to give my 5 cents regarding my own experience with Vorpx and Comodo.

The main issue was related to all games execution 64 bits processes, and Vorpx would not hook these games. (Fallout 4, GTA V, …)

in fact, In Comodo, there are several modules :
– antivirus, defense+, firewall, file evaluation.

Regarding Vorpx, you run Vorpcontrol.exe (named Start Vorpx shortcut on your desktop), but it also launch Vorpcontrol64.dat (you see it in task manager).
These 2 executables target 32bits and 64bits games.

But one module in Comodo prevents vorpcontrol64.dat to be launched, this prevents the ability to Vorpx to detect you launched a 64 bits game (F4, GTAV,…)
If it is the case, you would not see vorpcontrol64.dat in task manager, and you will see application crash regarding vorpcontrol64.dat 0x000005 in your eventlog application (run eventvwr in windows).

This module is located in Defense+ in Comodo. In defense+ menu, you will see HIPS parameters, and in this configuration page, you can deactivate/activate HIPS, but you need to know that all others options below are not related to HIPS (that s why disabling HIPS keep crashing our Vorpcontrol64.dat).

And it is here : the last option is named “Detect shellcode injections”. and you can add exceptions.
you have to act here : add all Vorpx executables to this exclusion list.

Enjoy now the ability to keep your prefered security software and your prefered 3d wrapper :)

Okay, found that Comodo is preventing vorpcontrol64.dat to run. ( I uninstalled the comodo security to test)

and now the dat file load in memory.

the bad thing is I did not find how to exclude this dat file from comodo lol.

I would not change my AV.

I ll keep to test.

Hi,

I found some details while running through the forum :

It seems my vorpcontrol64.dat is not running.
I checked in my eventlog and found that it crashes when I start vorpX

I already tried to reinstall the application with no luck.
Is there a log somewhere which can help me find potential conflict ?

By default, because VorpX uses head-tracking to control where you’re looking by generating virtual mouse movements, it also has to emulate the controller – I think Fallout 4, like many games, doesn’t allow simultaneous mouse and conroller input.

However, there is an experimental feature in VorpX for Fallout 4 only which gets round this. Call up the Vorpx in-game menu (default key is ‘Delete’), use the left/right arrow keys to get to the head-tracking menu, then down arrow to ‘Start direct tracking scan’ and enter. After a pause and a hitch in your view it’ll suddenly rotate your character. Ten you’ll probably find head-tracking is more accurate, and also that the controller works as intended.

Hi guys,
I’m new to Vorpx but I have been able to get Vorpx working on Fallout 4. My issue is that when I play the game without vorpx the controller prompts are there, i.e. press ‘A’ to Jump. Also when talking to NPC’s I can select A, B, X, Y dialog options with no problem. If I play Fallout 4 in Vorpx I don’t see the controller prompts but I see keyboard and mouse prompts instead. Also when talking to NPC’s my right anolog stick becomes a mouse???
I.m not sure what to do to get this to work properly but any help would be welcome.

Thanks.

My setup:
CV1 Oculus Rift
Controller: wireless Xbox One Gamepad.

Hi,

I’m having trouble getting vorpx to work on my DK2.

If I enable head tracking, the screen rotates wildly and out of control on my headset. This happens in the desktop viewer and in all the games I’ve tried (GTA V and Fallout 4).

This doesn’t happen in the health warning, in the oculus store or in native oculus games.

Here’s a video where I am turning head tracking on and off from inside the desktop viewer:

My oculus software version is 1.5.0.240083 (1.5.0.241049).
