Bump for recognition, please consider working on this along with support for ESO.

I thought I might add Ralf seeing as you’ve started support for Dark Souls and Mordhau why not Chivalry and Jedi Knight Jedi Outcast/Academy as well?

Hey everyone, i got a question im sure has been brought up before but i just havent been able to find a topic about it, not sure what wording they may have used to ask, so, please bear with me if im repeating something.

So my most fun Vorpx experience was Dark Souls 3 in VR with a CheatEngine mod to play in First person view – this made locking onto enemies impossible cause the camera would shift like crazy cause it was a hack to get into first person (you could still see your weapon clearly and your arms as well, so was cool immersion factor there)

Anyways, Dark Souls 3 for VR you basically HAD TO play a fast character that can kill without locking on, so what happened was, as i played, i was basically ‘aiming’ my sword swings with my actual head + joystick on controller to hit enemies. Aiming sword swings with the direction youre looking in can actually be quite satisfying :P lol

Okay, so, head aiming is cool and i ‘get it’ as to how Vorpx makes this work, basically simulates our heads as a mouse with data via Oculus and then written to make our heads into the ‘mouse’.

So my question comes down to something about Vorpx that i think could really send it over the top, but just not sure what the roadblocks would be to do it

So our data is also being intercepted by our rift sensors + oculus touch controllers.. is there anyway to turn that data into ‘mouse control’ so that in a game like say, Kingdom Come, you are actually aiming your bow with your Oculus touch controller, like you would in a native Oculus game.

I understand the most likely problem here will likely be that we cant be receiving that many mouse inputs and making it into a functioning product.. Youd have your head + joystick on touch control + aiming the controller at the screen all relegated to simply ‘mouse movement’. Im assuming thats the roadblock here to stop us from doing that.

But what i wanted to offer as a middle ground is maybe a ‘toggle’ option to ‘disable’ our analog stick mouse actions and allow us to stand and ‘aim’ like an actual VR game, even in these older ones. Maybe have to toggle both head movement and joystick control to make it work, but if it was as simple as like clicking in a Grip Button on the controller, then it transfers all ‘mouse movement’ for that moment to your controller being aimed at the screen, like duck hunt or modern games, then release the grip as soon as you want full control back.

I know running and gunning is fun but was wondering if there was any sort of workaround here cause like im playing kingdom come and i WISH i was able to point my touch controllers and aim at the enemies with my actual touch controller.. just didnt know if this was possible or not and wanted to bring it up.

Thanks for all your hard work, Ralf and team, this product has been absolutely fantastic for me. I do not regret a dime i spent to get this program, so thank you very much for that… just wanted to offer a suggestion that im not sure is possible or not, but damn, if we could actually aim like native VR apps, it would be fantastic. Im not talking about moving gun models around and stuff and doing full conversions of the game, just letting us point our controller and shoot, since that data has to exist somewhere and maybe it could be transferred to mouse movement, or something else you crazy geniuses think of to do it :P

Take care, and thanks again for VorpX, its been a real blast playing thru games with this

After i saw Stereo3DProductions’ video https://youtu.be/fa5rO1tveOA?t=181 i have a question about the head tracking in Immersive Screen Mode.

He plays Edith Finch with the head tracking “decoupled”, and then shows for a brief moment another setting. The dark video prevented me to see much, but i felt that the screen *and* the ingame-camera moved.

My question is, can Immersive Screen Mode be set so that the screen is 100% fixed in your view and the head tracking only influences the ingame-camera? Essentially the opposite of what he demonstrates in his gameplay.

Sorry I was wrong. I try not to run the two programs simultaneously, but no matter what program I start, the screens of the Pimax remain dark or have aberrations.

    Are there any logfiles somewhere?

You can safely ignore this message. Steam normally launches non-VR games in a (rather crude and slow) 2D theater if a VR headset is present. That’s what this message is about. vorpX diables the Steam theater though. In addition to that you can disable the VR theater either globally in the Steam options or per game on the game properties page. Shouldn’t be necessary though.

Trine 2 and Darksiders both are DX9, FO4 is DX11, so maybe you have some background program that interferes with DX11.

Just in case: I probably won’t reply to further posts anymore today (Saturday, 10PM). Will check back tomorrow.

Under normal circumstances the game should just hook fine by launching it from Steam. Not much else I can suggest anyway.

    Thanks Ralf,
This is a bit weird. Ive tried one or two other games like Trine2 and Darksiders and they both hook right away. No matter which way i start them they always hook. ( either through the steam client or directly ).
Perhaps i am doing something wrong because i am new to steam.
(steamVR is already running befor i start a game, but is deosnt seem to make a difference if not)
One thing ive notice is that when starting a game through the steam client i get that grey box saying “this game doesnt support vr and will be displayed on desktop” (is that supposed to happen ?).
When starting the two other games directly the message does not appear, but when starting fallout 4 directly the message comes up too. The VorpX window “Attaching” is in the background but nothing happens. Perhaps another windoes 7 issue ? Ill keep trying out though. :-/

Is there a special setting required to get the game running with vorpx ? Ive tried different modes like alternative, desktop shortcut, “dont optimze game settings” ticked/unticked but vorpx doesnt hook . When starting game i get a message in a dark grey box like “this game doesnt support vr and will be displayed on desktop”, then when clicking ok and play, game will start but vorpX wont hook. Any suggestions ?

    Thanks in advance.

In the very end of the game, I have encountered a pretty bad bug.
When I get to the top of the tower and setup the missile guide system, the dark ones attack me with a mind game ( i don´t know better words for it).
Normally the screen zooms out and I have to walk on some platforms. But it zoomes so much out the screen turns kind of black, it looks weird, and i can´t see anything. I can´t complete the game coz im walking blind and dying of falling of the tower. It has even destroyed my savegame, so if i load my game on my normal screen it does the same weird bug.

    Please help!

I have played Mass Effect with a 4k texture mod and holy shit is was awesome to be back in space!!
But I wanted to try out other third person games, so i tried Dark Souls 2… Now I have not played anything else in the last 3 weeks. DS 2 rocks!!! So i bought the hole series :)
But I didnt like the cinema mode for both games, so i tried to make it full vr mode with some tweaks and it works perfect!!! :)

First, in all your testing, have you tried the new alternative hooking method? That may make a difference.
Second, if there is no option to switch to an OpenGL mode, chances are, it is running by default, and you can try any of the profiles from the list above to see if you can find something that works. Just as a shot in the dark, Quake tends to be a pretty defined standard, I’d start with that. Maybe Quake 4? It really depends on what version of OpenGL FFX is using, which would be generally relative to what year it came out. So, again, try to use something with roughly the same time-frame. Chances are, the actual engine underneath the game wasn’t changed for the remake, so I’d go with the release date for the original FFX. But you never know what profile engine ends up working.
But again, if you haven’t tried the alternative hooking method, I’d shoot for that first.

As at the moment I couldn’t play Borderlands because of the weird bug, I started playing The Darkness II again as I saw it was supported by the last update.

The game doesn’t have Direct VR so I play in cinematic mode instead, but with the geometry working again, it’s a lot a fun seeing the tentacules ripping the mobs in halves in 3D.

Thanks for fixing the profile :)

So I ended up formating my SSD and installing windows and all the drivers and softwares back, sadly the glitch is still present.
So it’s definitely a display defect with my headset.

Thank you again for yor help, and sorry for the trouble.
Again, it appeared just after I forced closed vorpX, and the glitch looked quite similar to a corrupted vorpx logo, so I really thought it was linked.

Now I have a last problem, I can’t use vorpX anymore as it won’t accept my identification codes. I sent an email to the support.

I really want to keep playing Darksiders II with vorpX, as when I was waiting for the Oculus software to install, I had to play the pancake version, and it was quite disapointing and flat compared to the 3D version.
